* I therefore , the prisoner of the Lord , beseech (5719 ) you that ye walk (5658 ) worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called (5681 ), * With all lowliness and meekness , with longsuffering , forbearing (5740 ) one another in love ; * Endeavouring (5723 ) to keep (5721 ) the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace . * There is one body , and one Spirit , even as ye are called (5681 ) in one hope of your calling ; * One Lord , one faith , one baptism , * One God and Father of all , who is above all , and through all , and in you all . * But unto every one of us is given (5681 ) grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ . * Wherefore he saith (5719 ), When he ascended (5631 ) up on high , he led captivity (5656 ) captive , and gave (5656 ) gifts unto men . * (Now that he ascended (5627 ), what is it (5748 ) but that he also descended (5627 ) first into the lower parts of the earth ? * He that descended (5631 ) is (5748 ) the same also that ascended up (5631 ) far above all heavens , that he might fill (5661 ) all things .) * And he gave (5656 ) some , apostles ; and some , prophets ; and some , evangelists ; and some , pastors and teachers ; * For the perfecting of the saints , for the work of the ministry , for the edifying of the body of Christ : * Till we all come (5661 ) in the unity of the faith , and of the knowledge of the Son of God , unto a perfect man , unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ : * That we henceforth be (5753 ) no more children , tossed to and fro (5740 ), and carried about with (5746 ) every wind of doctrine , by the sleight of men , and cunning craftiness , whereby they lie in wait to deceive ; * But speaking the truth (5723 ) in love , may grow up (5661 ) into him in all things , which is (5748 ) the head , even Christ : * From whom the whole body fitly joined together (5746 ) and compacted (5746 ) by that which every joint supplieth , according to the effectual working in the measure of every part , maketh (5731 ) increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love . * This I say (5719 ) therefore , and testify (5736 ) in the Lord , that ye henceforth walk (5721 ) not as other Gentiles walk (5719 ), in the vanity of their mind , * Having the understanding darkened (5772 ), being (5752 ) alienated (5772 ) from the life of God through the ignorance that is (5752 ) in them , because of the blindness of their heart : * Who being past feeling (5761 ) have given themselves over (5656 ) unto lasciviousness , to work all uncleanness with greediness . * But ye have not so learned (5627 ) Christ ; * If so be that ye have heard (5656 ) him , and have been taught (5681 ) by him , as the truth is (5748 ) in Jesus : * That ye put off (5641 ) concerning the former conversation the old man , which is corrupt (5746 ) according to the deceitful lusts ; * And be renewed (5745 ) in the spirit of your mind ; * And that ye put on (5670 ) the new man , which after God is created (5685 ) in righteousness and true holiness . * Wherefore putting away (5642 ) lying , speak (5720 ) every man truth with his neighbour : for we are (5748 ) members one of another . * Be ye angry (5744 ), and sin (5720 ) not : let not the sun go down (5720 ) upon your wrath : * Neither give (5720 ) place to the devil . * Let him that stole (5723 ) steal (5720 ) no more : but rather let him labour (5720 ), working (5740 ) with his hands the thing which is good , that he may have (5725 ) to give (5721 ) to him that needeth (5723 ). * Let no corrupt communication proceed (5737 ) out of your mouth , but that which is good to the use of edifying , that it may minister (5632 ) grace unto the hearers (5723 ). * And grieve (5720 ) not the holy Spirit of God , whereby ye are sealed (5681 ) unto the day of redemption . * Let all bitterness , and wrath , and anger , and clamour , and evil speaking , be put away (5682 ) from you , with all malice : * And be (5737 ) ye kind one to another , tenderhearted , forgiving (5740 ) one another , even as God for Christs sake hath forgiven (5662 ) you .
