* Then Jesus six days before the passover came (5627 ) to Bethany , where Lazarus was (5713 ) which had been dead (5761 ), whom he raised (5656 ) from the dead . * There they made (5656 ) him a supper ; and Martha served (5707 ): but Lazarus was (5713 ) one of them that sat at the table (5740 ) with him . * Then took (5631 ) Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard , very costly , and anointed (5656 ) the feet of Jesus , and wiped (5656 ) his feet with her hair : and the house was filled (5681 ) with the odour of the ointment . * Then saith (5719 ) one of his disciples , Judas Iscariot , Simons son , which should (5723 ) betray (5721 ) him , * Why was not this ointment sold (5681 ) for three hundred pence , and given (5681 ) to the poor ? * This he said (5627 ), not that he cared (5707 ) for the poor ; but because he was (5713 ) a thief , and had (5707 ) the bag , and bare (5707 ) what was put therein (5746 ). * Then said (5627 ) Jesus , Let her alone (5628 ): against the day of my burying hath she kept (5758 ) this . * For the poor always ye have (5719 ) with you ; but me ye have (5719 ) not always . * Much people of the Jews therefore knew (5627 ) that he was (5748 ) there : and they came (5627 ) not for Jesus sake only , but that they might see (5632 ) Lazarus also , whom he had raised (5656 ) from the dead . * But the chief priests consulted (5662 ) that they might put Lazarus also to death (5725 ); * Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away (5707 ), and believed (5707 ) on Jesus . * On the next day much people that were come (5631 ) to the feast , when they heard (5660 ) that Jesus was coming (5736 ) to Jerusalem , * Took (5627 ) branches of palm trees , and went forth (5627 ) to meet him , and cried (5707 ), Hosanna : Blessed (5772 ) is the King of Israel that cometh (5740 ) in the name of the Lord . * And Jesus , when he had found (5631 ) a young ass , sat (5656 ) thereon ; as it is (5748 ) written (5772 ), * Fear (5732 ) (5737 ) not , daughter of Sion : behold (5628 ), thy King cometh (5736 ), sitting (5740 ) on an asss colt . * These things understood (5627 ) not his disciples at the first : but when Jesus was glorified (5681 ), then remembered they (5681 ) that these things were (5713 ) written (5772 ) of him , and that they had done (5656 ) these things unto him . * The people therefore that was (5752 ) with him when he called (5656 ) Lazarus out of his grave , and raised (5656 ) him from the dead , bare record (5707 ). * For this cause the people also met (5656 ) him , for that they heard (5656 ) that he had done (5760 ) this miracle . * The Pharisees therefore said (5627 ) among themselves , Perceive ye (5719 ) (5720 ) how ye prevail (5719 ) nothing ? behold , the world is gone (5627 ) after him . * And there were (5713 ) certain Greeks among them that came up (5723 ) to worship (5661 ) at the feast : * The same came (5656 ) therefore to Philip , which was of Bethsaida of Galilee , and desired (5707 ) him , saying (5723 ), Sir , we would (5719 ) see (5629 ) Jesus . * Philip cometh (5736 ) and telleth (5719 ) Andrew : and again Andrew and Philip tell (5719 ) Jesus . * And Jesus answered (5662 ) them , saying (5723 ), The hour is come (5754 ), that the Son of man should be glorified (5686 ). * Verily , verily , I say (5719 ) unto you , Except a corn of wheat fall (5631 ) into the ground and die (5632 ), it abideth (5719 ) alone : but if it die (5632 ), it bringeth forth (5719 ) much fruit . * He that loveth (5723 ) his life shall lose (5692 ) it ; and he that hateth (5723 ) his life in this world shall keep (5692 ) it unto life eternal . * If any man serve (5725 ) me , let him follow (5720 ) me ; and where I am (5748 ), there shall also my servant be (5704 ): if any man serve (5725 ) me , him will my Father honour (5692 ). * Now is my soul troubled (5769 ); and what shall I say (5632 )? Father , save (5657 ) me from this hour : but for this cause came I (5627 ) unto this hour . * Father , glorify (5657 ) thy name . Then came there (5627 ) a voice from heaven , saying , I have both glorified (5656 ) it , and will glorify (5692 ) it again . * The people therefore , that stood by (5761 ), and heard (5660 ) it , said (5707 ) that it thundered (5755 ): others said (5707 ), An angel spake (5758 ) to him . * Jesus answered (5662 ) and said (5627 ), This voice came (5754 ) not because of me , but for your sakes . * Now is (5748 ) the judgment of this world : now shall the prince of this world be cast (5701 ) out . * And I , if I be lifted up (5686 ) from the earth , will draw (5692 ) all men unto me . * This he said (5707 ), signifying (5723 ) what death he should (5707 ) die (5721 ). * The people answered (5662 ) him , We have heard (5656 ) out of the law that Christ abideth (5719 ) for ever : and how sayest (5719 ) thou , The Son of man must (5748 ) be lifted up (5683 )? who is (5748 ) this Son of man ? * Then Jesus said (5627 ) unto them , Yet a little while is (5748 ) the light with you . Walk (5720 ) while ye have (5719 ) the light , lest darkness come upon (5632 ) you : for he that walketh (5723 ) in darkness knoweth (5758 ) not whither he goeth (5719 ). * While ye have (5719 ) light , believe (5720 ) in the light , that ye may be (5638 ) the children of light . These things spake (5656 ) Jesus , and departed (5631 ), and did hide himself (5648 ) from them . * But though he had done (5761 ) so many miracles before them , yet they believed (5707 ) not on him : * That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled (5686 ), which he spake (5627 ), Lord , who hath believed (5656 ) our report ? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed (5681 )? * Therefore they could (5711 ) not believe (5721 ), because that Esaias said (5627 ) again , * He hath blinded (5758 ) their eyes , and hardened (5758 ) their heart ; that they should not see (5632 ) with their eyes , nor understand (5661 ) with their heart , and be converted (5652 ), and I should heal (5667 ) them . * These things said (5627 ) Esaias , when he saw (5627 ) his glory , and spake (5656 ) of him . * Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed (5656 ) on him ; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess (5707 ) him , lest they should be (5638 ) put out of the synagogue : * For they loved (5656 ) the praise of men more than the praise of God . * Jesus cried (5656 ) and said (5627 ), He that believeth (5723 ) on me , believeth (5719 ) not on me , but on him that sent (5660 ) me . * And he that seeth (5723 ) me seeth (5719 ) him that sent (5660 ) me . * I am come (5754 ) a light into the world , that whosoever believeth (5723 ) on me should not abide (5661 ) in darkness . * And if any man hear (5661 ) my words , and believe (5661 ) not , I judge (5692 ) (5719 ) him not : for I came (5627 ) not to judge (5725 ) the world , but to save (5661 ) the world . * He that rejecteth (5723 ) me , and receiveth (5723 ) not my words , hath (5719 ) one that judgeth (5723 ) him : the word that I have spoken (5656 ), the same shall judge (5692 ) him in the last day . * For I have not spoken (5656 ) of myself ; but the Father which sent (5660 ) me , he gave (5656 ) me a commandment , what I should say (5632 ), and what I should speak (5661 ). * And I know (5758 ) that his commandment is (5748 ) life everlasting : whatsoever I speak (5719 ) therefore , even as the Father said (5758 ) unto me , so I speak (5719 ).
