* After these things Jesus went (5627 ) over the sea of Galilee , which is the sea of Tiberias . * And a great multitude followed (5707 ) him , because they saw (5707 ) his miracles which he did (5707 ) on them that were diseased (5723 ). * And Jesus went up (5627 ) into a mountain , and there he sat (5711 ) with his disciples . * And the passover , a feast of the Jews , was (5713 ) nigh . * When Jesus then lifted up (5660 ) his eyes , and saw (5666 ) a great company come (5736 ) unto him , he saith (5719 ) unto Philip , Whence shall we buy (5692 ) bread , that these may eat (5632 )? * And this he said (5707 ) to prove (5723 ) him : for he himself knew (5715 ) what he would (5707 ) do (5721 ). * Philip answered (5662 ) him , Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient (5719 ) for them , that every one of them may take (5632 ) a little . * One of his disciples , Andrew , Simon Peters brother , saith (5719 ) unto him , * There is (5748 ) a lad here , which hath (5719 ) five barley loaves , and two small fishes : but what are (5748 ) they among so many ? * And Jesus said (5627 ), Make (5657 ) the men sit down (5629 ). Now there was (5713 ) much grass in the place . So the men sat down (5627 ), in number about five thousand . * And Jesus took (5627 ) the loaves ; and when he had given thanks (5660 ), he distributed (5656 ) to the disciples , and the disciples to them that were set down (5740 ); and likewise of the fishes as much as they would (5707 ). * When they were filled (5681 ), he said (5719 ) unto his disciples , Gather up (5628 ) the fragments that remain (5660 ), that nothing be lost (5643 ). * Therefore they gathered them together (5627 ), and filled (5656 ) twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves , which remained over and above (5656 ) unto them that had eaten (5761 ). * Then those men , when they had seen (5631 ) the miracle that Jesus did (5656 ), said (5707 ), This is (5748 ) of a truth that prophet that should come (5740 ) into the world . * When Jesus therefore perceived (5631 ) that they would (5719 ) come (5738 ) and take him by force (5721 ), to make (5661 ) him a king , he departed (5656 ) again into a mountain himself alone . * And when even was now come (5633 ), his disciples went down (5627 ) unto the sea , * And entered (5631 ) into a ship , and went (5711 ) over the sea toward Capernaum . And it was (5715 ) now dark , and Jesus was not come (5715 ) to them . * And the sea arose (5712 ) by reason of a great wind that blew (5723 ). * So when they had rowed (5761 ) about five and twenty or thirty furlongs , they see (5719 ) Jesus walking (5723 ) on the sea , and drawing (5740 ) nigh unto the ship : and they were afraid (5675 ). * But he saith (5719 ) unto them , It is (5748 ) I ; be not afraid (5737 ). * Then they willingly (5707 ) received (5629 ) him into the ship : and immediately the ship was (5633 ) at the land whither they went (5707 ). * The day following , when the people which stood (5761 ) on the other side of the sea saw (5631 ) that there was (5713 ) none other boat there , save that one whereinto his disciples were entered (5627 ), and that Jesus went not with (5627 ) his disciples into the boat , but that his disciples were gone away (5627 ) alone ; * (Howbeit there came (5627 ) other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat (5627 ) bread , after that the Lord had given thanks (5660 ):) * When the people therefore saw (5627 ) that Jesus was (5748 ) not there , neither his disciples , they also took (5627 ) shipping , and came (5627 ) to Capernaum , seeking for (5723 ) Jesus . * And when they had found (5631 ) him on the other side of the sea , they said (5627 ) unto him , Rabbi , when camest thou (5754 ) hither ? * Jesus answered (5662 ) them and said (5627 ), Verily , verily , I say (5719 ) unto you , Ye seek (5719 ) me , not because ye saw (5627 ) the miracles , but because ye did eat (5627 ) of the loaves , and were filled (5681 ). * Labour (5737 ) not for the meat which perisheth (5734 ), but for that meat which endureth (5723 ) unto everlasting life , which the Son of man shall give (5692 ) unto you : for him hath God the Father sealed (5656 ). * Then said they (5627 ) unto him , What shall we do (5719 ) (5625 ) (5725 ), that we might work (5741 ) the works of God ? * Jesus answered (5662 ) and said (5627 ) unto them , This is (5748 ) the work of God , that ye believe (5661 ) on him whom he hath sent (5656 ). * They said (5627 ) therefore unto him , What sign shewest (5719 ) thou then , that we may see (5632 ), and believe (5661 ) thee ? what dost thou work (5736 )? * Our fathers did eat (5627 ) manna in the desert ; as it is (5748 ) written (5772 ), He gave (5656 ) them bread from heaven to eat (5629 ). * Then Jesus said (5627 ) unto them , Verily , verily , I say (5719 ) unto you , Moses gave (5758 ) you not that bread from heaven ; but my Father giveth (5719 ) you the true bread from heaven . * For the bread of God is he (5748 ) which cometh down (5723 ) from heaven , and giveth (5723 ) life unto the world . * Then said they (5627 ) unto him , Lord , evermore give (5628 ) us this bread . * And Jesus said (5627 ) unto them , I am (5748 ) the bread of life : he that cometh (5740 ) to me shall never hunger (5661 ); and he that believeth (5723 ) on me shall never thirst (5661 ). * But I said (5627 ) unto you , That ye also have seen (5758 ) me , and believe (5719 ) not . * All that the Father giveth (5719 ) me shall come (5692 ) to me ; and him that cometh (5740 ) to me I will in no wise cast (5632 ) out . * For I came down (5758 ) from heaven , not to do (5725 ) mine own will , but the will of him that sent (5660 ) me . * And this is (5748 ) the Fathers will which hath sent (5660 ) me , that of all which he hath given (5758 ) me I should lose (5661 ) nothing , but should raise it up again (5692 ) at the last day . * And this is (5748 ) the will of him that sent (5660 ) me , that every one which seeth (5723 ) the Son , and believeth (5723 ) on him , may have (5725 ) everlasting life : and I will raise him up (5692 ) at the last day . * The Jews then murmured (5707 ) at him , because he said (5627 ), I am (5748 ) the bread which came down (5631 ) from heaven . * And they said (5707 ), Is (5748 ) not this Jesus , the son of Joseph , whose father and mother we know (5758 )? how is it then that he saith (5719 ), I came down (5758 ) from heaven ? * Jesus therefore answered (5662 ) and said (5627 ) unto them , Murmur (5720 ) not among yourselves . * No man can (5736 ) come (5629 ) to me , except the Father which hath sent (5660 ) me draw (5661 ) him : and I will raise him up (5692 ) at the last day . * It is (5748 ) written (5772 ) in the prophets , And they shall be (5704 ) all taught of God . Every man therefore that hath heard (5660 ), and hath learned (5631 ) of the Father , cometh (5736 ) unto me . * Not that any man hath seen (5758 ) the Father , save he which is (5752 ) of God , he hath seen (5758 ) the Father . * Verily , verily , I say (5719 ) unto you , He that believeth (5723 ) on me hath (5719 ) everlasting life . * I am (5748 ) that bread of life . * Your fathers did eat (5627 ) manna in the wilderness , and are dead (5627 ). * This is (5748 ) the bread which cometh down (5723 ) from heaven , that a man may eat (5632 ) thereof , and not die (5632 ). * I am (5748 ) the living (5723 ) bread which came down (5631 ) from heaven : if any man eat (5632 ) of this bread , he shall live (5695 ) for ever : and the bread that I will give (5692 ) is (5748 ) my flesh , which I will give (5692 ) for the life of the world . * The Jews therefore strove (5711 ) among themselves , saying (5723 ), How can (5736 ) this man give (5629 ) us his flesh to eat (5629 )? * Then Jesus said (5627 ) unto them , Verily , verily , I say (5719 ) unto you , Except ye eat (5632 ) the flesh of the Son of man , and drink (5632 ) his blood , ye have (5719 ) no life in you . * Whoso eateth (5723 ) my flesh , and drinketh (5723 ) my blood , hath (5719 ) eternal life ; and I will raise him up (5692 ) at the last day . * For my flesh is (5748 ) meat indeed , and my blood is (5748 ) drink indeed . * He that eateth (5723 ) my flesh , and drinketh (5723 ) my blood , dwelleth (5719 ) in me , and I in him . * As the living (5723 ) Father hath sent (5656 ) me , and I live (5719 ) by the Father : so he that eateth (5723 ) me , even he shall live (5695 ) by me . * This is (5748 ) that bread which came down (5631 ) from heaven : not as your fathers did eat (5627 ) manna , and are dead (5627 ): he that eateth (5723 ) of this bread shall live (5695 ) for ever . * These things said he (5627 ) in the synagogue , as he taught (5723 ) in Capernaum . * Many therefore of his disciples , when they had heard (5660 ) this , said (5627 ), This is (5748 ) an hard saying ; who can (5736 ) hear (5721 ) it ? * When Jesus knew (5761 ) in himself that his disciples murmured (5719 ) at it , he said (5627 ) unto them , Doth this offend (5719 ) you ? * What and if ye shall see (5725 ) the Son of man ascend up (5723 ) where he was (5713 ) before ? * It is (5748 ) the spirit that quickeneth (5723 ); the flesh profiteth (5719 ) nothing : the words that I speak (5719 ) unto you , they are (5748 ) spirit , and they are (5748 ) life . * But there are (5748 ) some of you that believe (5719 ) not . For Jesus knew (5715 ) from the beginning who they were (5748 ) that believed (5723 ) not , and who should (5748 ) betray (5694 ) him . * And he said (5707 ), Therefore said I (5758 ) unto you , that no man can (5736 ) come (5629 ) unto me , except it were (5753 ) given (5772 ) unto him of my Father . * From that time many of his disciples went (5627 ) back , and walked (5707 ) no more with him . * Then said (5627 ) Jesus unto the twelve , Will (5719 ) ye also go away (5721 )? * Then Simon Peter answered (5662 ) him , Lord , to whom shall we go (5695 )? thou hast (5719 ) the words of eternal life . * And we believe (5758 ) and are sure (5758 ) that thou art (5748 ) that Christ , the Son of the living (5723 ) God . * Jesus answered (5662 ) them , Have not I chosen (5668 ) you twelve , and one of you is (5748 ) a devil ? * He spake (5707 ) of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon : for he it was that should (5707 ) betray (5721 ) him , being (5752 ) one of the twelve .
