*
Let a man so account (
5737 )
of us ,
as of the ministers of Christ ,
and stewards of the mysteries of God .
*
Moreover it is required (
5743 )
in stewards ,
that a man be found (
5686 )
faithful .
*
But with me it is (
5748 )
a very small thing that I should be judged (
5686 )
of you ,
or of mans judgment :
yea ,
I judge (
5719 )
not mine own self .
*
For I know (
5758 )
nothing by myself ;
yet am I not hereby justified (
5769 ):
but he that judgeth (
5723 )
me is (
5748 )
the Lord .
*
Therefore judge (
5720 )
nothing before the time ,
until the Lord come (
5632 ),
who both will bring to light (
5692 )
the hidden things of darkness ,
and will make manifest (
5692 )
the counsels of the hearts :
and then shall every man have (
5695 )
praise of God .
*
And these things ,
brethren ,
I have in a figure transferred (
5656 )
to myself and to Apollos for your sakes ;
that ye might learn (
5632 )
in us not to think (
5721 )
of men above that which is written (
5769 ),
that no one of you be puffed up (
5747 )
for one against another .
*
For who maketh thee to differ (
5719 )
from another ?
and what hast thou (
5719 )
that thou didst not receive (
5627 )?
now if thou didst receive (
5627 )
it ,
why dost thou glory (
5736 ),
as if thou hadst not received (
5631 )
it ?
*
Now ye are (
5748 )
full (
5772 ),
now ye are rich (
5656 ),
ye have reigned as kings (
5656 )
without us :
and I would to God ye did reign (
5656 ),
that we also might reign with (
5661 )
you .
*
For I think (
5719 )
that God hath set forth (
5656 )
us the apostles last ,
as it were appointed to death :
for we are made (
5675 )
a spectacle unto the world ,
and to angels ,
and to men .
*
We are fools for Christs sake ,
but ye are wise in Christ ;
we are weak ,
but ye are strong ;
ye are honourable ,
but we are despised .
*
Even unto this present hour we both hunger (
5719 ),
and thirst (
5725 ),
and are naked (
5719 ),
and are buffeted (
5743 ),
and have no certain dwellingplace (
5719 );
*
And labour (
5719 ),
working (
5740 )
with our own hands :
being reviled (
5746 ),
we bless (
5719 );
being persecuted (
5746 ),
we suffer it (
5736 ):
*
Being defamed (
5746 ),
we intreat (
5719 ):
we are made (
5675 )
as the filth of the world ,
and are the offscouring of all things unto this day .
*
I write (
5719 )
not these things to shame (
5723 )
you ,
but as my beloved sons I warn (
5719 )
you .
*
For though ye have (
5725 )
ten thousand instructors in Christ ,
yet have ye not many fathers :
for in Christ Jesus I have begotten (
5656 )
you through the gospel .
*
Wherefore I beseech (
5719 )
you ,
be ye (
5737 )
followers of me .
*
For this cause have I sent (
5656 )
unto you Timotheus ,
who is (
5748 )
my beloved son ,
and faithful in the Lord ,
who shall bring you into remembrance (
5692 )
of my ways which be in Christ ,
as I teach (
5719 )
every where in every church .
*
Now some are puffed up (
5681 ),
as though I would not come (
5740 )
to you .
*
But I will come (
5695 )
to you shortly ,
if the Lord will (
5661 ),
and will know (
5695 ),
not the speech of them which are puffed up (
5772 ),
but the power .
*
For the kingdom of God is not in word ,
but in power .
*
What will ye (
5719 )?
shall I come (
5632 )
unto you with a rod ,
or in love ,
and in the spirit of meekness ?
*
It is reported (
5743 )
commonly that there is fornication among you ,
and such fornication as is not so much as named (
5743 )
among the Gentiles ,
that one should have (
5721 )
his fathers wife .
*
And ye are (
5748 )
puffed up (
5772 ),
and have not rather mourned (
5656 ),
that he that hath done (
5660 )
this deed might be taken away (
5686 )
from among you .
*
For I verily ,
as absent (
5752 )
in body ,
but present (
5752 )
in spirit ,
have judged (
5758 )
already ,
as though I were present (
5752 ),
concerning him that hath so done (
5666 )
this deed ,
*
In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ ,
when ye are gathered together (
5685 ),
and my spirit ,
with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ ,
*
To deliver (
5629 )
such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh ,
that the spirit may be saved (
5686 )
in the day of the Lord Jesus .
*
Your glorying is not good .
Know ye (
5758 )
not that a little leaven leaveneth (
5719 )
the whole lump ?
*
Purge out (
5657 )
therefore the old leaven ,
that ye may be (
5753 )
a new lump ,
as ye are (
5748 )
unleavened .
For even Christ our passover is sacrificed (
5681 )
for us :
*
Therefore let us keep the feast (
5725 ),
not with old leaven ,
neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness ;
but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth .
*
I wrote (
5656 )
unto you in an epistle not to company (
5733 )
with fornicators :
*
Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world ,
or with the covetous ,
or extortioners ,
or with idolaters ;
for then must ye needs (
5719 )
go (
5629 )
out of the world .
*
But now I have written (
5656 )
unto you not to keep company (
5733 ),
if any man that is called (
5746 )
a brother be a fornicator ,
or covetous ,
or an idolater ,
or a railer ,
or a drunkard ,
or an extortioner ;
with such an one no not to eat (
5721 ).
*
For what have I to do to judge (
5721 )
them also that are without ?
do not ye judge (
5719 )
them that are within ?
*
But them that are without God judgeth (
5692 ).
Therefore put away (
5692 )
from among yourselves that wicked person .
*
Dare (
5719 )
any of you ,
having (
5723 )
a matter against another ,
go to law (
5745 )
before the unjust ,
and not before the saints ?
*
Do ye not know (
5758 )
that the saints shall judge (
5692 )
the world ?
and if the world shall be judged (
5743 )
by you ,
are ye (
5748 )
unworthy to judge the smallest matters ?
*
Know ye (
5758 )
not that we shall judge (
5692 )
angels ?
how much more things that pertain to this life ?
*
If then ye have (
5725 )
judgments of things pertaining to this life ,
set (
5719 )
them to judge who are least esteemed (
5772 )
in the church .
*
I speak (
5719 )
to your shame .
Is it so ,
that there (
5748 )
is not a wise man among you ?
no ,
not one that shall be able (
5695 )
to judge (
5658 )
between his brethren ?
*
But brother goeth to law (
5743 )
with brother ,
and that before the unbelievers .
*
Now therefore there is (
5748 )
utterly a fault among you ,
because ye go (
5719 )
to law one with another .
Why do ye not rather take wrong (
5743 )?
why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded (
5743 )?
*
Nay ,
ye do wrong (
5719 ),
and defraud (
5719 ),
and that your brethren .
*
Know ye (
5758 )
not that the unrighteous shall not inherit (
5692 )
the kingdom of God ?
Be not deceived (
5744 ):
neither fornicators ,
nor idolaters ,
nor adulterers ,
nor effeminate ,
nor abusers of themselves with mankind ,
*
Nor thieves ,
nor covetous ,
nor drunkards ,
nor revilers ,
nor extortioners ,
shall inherit (
5692 )
the kingdom of God .
*
And such were (
5713 )
some of you :
but ye are washed (
5668 ),
but ye are sanctified (
5681 ),
but ye are justified (
5681 )
in the name of the Lord Jesus ,
and by the Spirit of our God .
*
All things are lawful (
5748 )
unto me ,
but all things are not expedient (
5719 ):
all things are lawful (
5748 )
for me ,
but I will not be brought under the power (
5701 )
of any .
*
Meats for the belly ,
and the belly for meats :
but God shall destroy (
5692 )
both it and them .
Now the body is not for fornication ,
but for the Lord ;
and the Lord for the body .
*
And God hath both raised up (
5656 )
the Lord ,
and will also raise up (
5692 )
us by his own power .
*
Know ye (
5758 )
not that your bodies are (
5748 )
the members of Christ ?
shall I then take (
5660 )
the members of Christ ,
and make (
5661 )
them the members of an harlot ?
God forbid (
5636 ).
*
What ?
know ye (
5758 )
not that he which is joined (
5746 )
to an harlot is (
5748 )
one body ?
for two ,
saith he (
5748 ),
shall be (
5704 )
one flesh .
*
But he that is joined (
5746 )
unto the Lord is (
5748 )
one spirit .
*
Flee (
5720 )
fornication .
Every sin that a man doeth (
5661 )
is (
5748 )
without the body ;
but he that committeth fornication (
5723 )
sinneth (
5719 )
against his own body .
*
What ?
know ye (
5758 )
not that your body is (
5748 )
the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you ,
which ye have (
5719 )
of God ,
and ye are (
5748 )
not your own ?
*
For ye are bought (
5681 )
with a price :
therefore glorify (
5657 )
God in your body ,
and in your spirit ,
which are (
5748 )
Gods .
*
Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote (
5656 )
unto me :
It is good for a man not to touch (
5733 )
a woman .
*
Nevertheless ,
to avoid fornication ,
let every man have (
5720 )
his own wife ,
and let every woman have (
5720 )
her own husband .
*
Let the husband render (
5720 )
unto the wife due (
5746 )
benevolence :
and likewise also the wife unto the husband .
*
The wife hath not power (
5719 )
of her own body ,
but the husband :
and likewise also the husband hath not power (
5719 )
of his own body ,
but the wife .
*
Defraud ye (
5720 )
not one the other ,
except it be with consent for a time ,
that ye may give yourselves (
5725 )
to fasting and prayer ;
and come (
5741 )
together again ,
that Satan tempt (
5725 )
you not for your incontinency .
*
But I speak (
5719 )
this by permission ,
and not of commandment .
*
For I would (
5719 )
that all men were (
5750 )
even as I myself .
But every man hath (
5719 )
his proper gift of God ,
one after this manner ,
and another after that .
*
I say (
5719 )
therefore to the unmarried and widows ,
It is (
5748 )
good for them if they abide (
5661 )
even as I .
*
But if they cannot contain (
5736 ),
let them marry (
5657 ):
for it is (
5748 )
better to marry (
5658 )
than to burn (
5745 ).
*
And unto the married (
5761 )
I command (
5719 ),
yet not I ,
but the Lord ,
Let not the wife depart (
5683 )
from her husband :
*
But and if she depart (
5681 ),
let her remain (
5720 )
unmarried ,
or be reconciled (
5649 )
to her husband :
and let not the husband put away (
5721 )
his wife .
*
But to the rest speak (
5719 )
I ,
not the Lord :
If any brother hath (
5719 )
a wife that believeth not ,
and she be pleased (
5719 )
to dwell (
5721 )
with him ,
let him not put her away (
5720 ).
*
And the woman which hath (
5719 )
an husband that believeth not ,
and if he be pleased (
5719 )
to dwell (
5721 )
with her ,
let her not leave (
5720 )
him .
*
For the unbelieving husband is sanctified (
5769 )
by the wife ,
and the unbelieving wife is sanctified (
5769 )
by the husband :
else were (
5748 )
your children unclean ;
but now are they (
5748 )
holy .
*
But if the unbelieving depart (
5731 ),
let him depart (
5744 ).
A brother or a sister is not under bondage (
5769 )
in such cases :
but God hath called (
5758 )
us to peace .
*
For what knowest thou (
5758 ),
O wife ,
whether thou shalt save (
5692 )
thy husband ?
or how knowest thou (
5758 ),
O man ,
whether thou shalt save (
5692 )
thy wife ?
*
But as God hath distributed (
5656 )
to every man ,
as the Lord hath called (
5758 )
every one ,
so let him walk (
5720 ).
And so ordain I (
5731 )
in all churches .
*
Is any man called (
5681 )
being circumcised (
5772 )?
let him not become uncircumcised (
5737 ).
Is any called (
5681 )
in uncircumcision ?
let him not be circumcised (
5744 ).
*
Circumcision is (
5748 )
nothing ,
and uncircumcision is (
5748 )
nothing ,
but the keeping of the commandments of God .
*
Let every man abide (
5720 )
in the same calling wherein he was called (
5681 ).
*
Art thou called (
5681 )
being a servant ?
care #
not for it (
5720 ):
but if thou mayest (
5736 )
be made (
5635 )
free ,
use (
5663 )
it rather .
*
For he that is called (
5685 )
in the Lord ,
being a servant ,
is (
5748 )
the Lords freeman :
likewise also he that is called (
5685 ),
being free ,
is (
5748 )
Christs servant .
*
Ye are bought (
5681 )
with a price ;
be not ye (
5737 )
the servants of men .
*
Brethren ,
let every man ,
wherein he is called (
5681 ),
therein abide (
5720 )
with God .
*
Now concerning virgins I have (
5719 )
no commandment of the Lord :
yet I give (
5719 )
my judgment ,
as one that hath obtained mercy (
5772 )
of the Lord to be (
5750 )
faithful .
*
I suppose (
5719 )
therefore that this is (
5721 )
good for the present (
5761 )
distress ,
I say ,
that it is good for a man so to be (
5750 ).
*
Art thou bound (
5769 )
unto a wife ?
seek (
5720 )
not to be loosed .
Art thou loosed (
5769 )
from a wife ?
seek (
5720 )
not a wife .
*
But and if thou marry (
5661 ),
thou hast not sinned (
5627 );
and if a virgin marry (
5661 ),
she hath not sinned (
5627 ).
Nevertheless such shall have (
5692 )
trouble in the flesh :
but I spare (
5736 )
you .
*
But this I say (
5748 ),
brethren ,
the time is short (
5772 ):
it remaineth (
5748 ),
that both they that have (
5723 )
wives be (
5753 )
as though they had (
5723 )
none ;
*
And they that weep (
5723 ),
as though they wept (
5723 )
not ;
and they that rejoice (
5723 ),
as though they rejoiced (
5723 )
not ;
and they that buy (
5723 ),
as though they possessed (
5723 )
not ;
*
And they that use (
5740 )
this world ,
as not abusing (
5740 )
it :
for the fashion of this world passeth away (
5719 ).
*
But I would have (
5750 ) (
5719 )
you without carefulness .
He that is unmarried careth (
5719 )
for the things that belong to the Lord ,
how he may please (
5692 )
the Lord :
*
But he that is married (
5660 )
careth (
5719 )
for the things that are of the world ,
how he may please (
5692 )
his wife .
*
There is difference also between (
5769 )
a wife and a virgin .
The unmarried woman careth for (
5719 )
the things of the Lord ,
that she may be (
5753 )
holy both in body and in spirit :
but she that is married (
5660 )
careth (
5719 )
for the things of the world ,
how she may please (
5692 )
her husband .
*
And this I speak (
5719 )
for your own profit (
5723 );
not that I may cast (
5632 )
a snare upon you ,
but for that which is comely ,
and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction .
*
But if any man think (
5719 )
that he behaveth himself uncomely (
5721 )
toward his virgin ,
if she pass the flower of her age (
5753 ),
and need (
5719 )
so require (
5738 ),
let him do (
5720 )
what he will (
5719 ),
he sinneth (
5719 )
not :
let them marry (
5720 ).
*
Nevertheless he that standeth (
5707 ) (
5758 )
stedfast in his heart ,
having (
5723 )
no necessity ,
but hath (
5719 )
power over his own will ,
and hath so decreed (
5758 )
in his heart that he will keep (
5721 )
his virgin ,
doeth (
5719 )
well .
*
So then he that giveth her in marriage (
5723 )
doeth (
5719 )
well ;
but he that giveth her not in marriage (
5723 )
doeth (
5719 )
better .
*
The wife is bound (
5769 )
by the law as long as her husband liveth (
5719 );
but if her husband be dead (
5686 ),
she is (
5748 )
at liberty to be married (
5683 )
to whom she will (
5719 );
only in the Lord .
*
But she is (
5748 )
happier if she so abide (
5661 ),
after my judgment :
and I think (
5719 )
also that I have (
5721 )
the Spirit of God .
*
Now as touching things offered unto idols ,
we know (
5758 )
that we all have (
5719 )
knowledge .
Knowledge puffeth up (
5719 ),
but charity edifieth (
5719 ).
