2Kings:15:17-22

The nine and thirtieth yeere of Azariah King of Iudah ,
beganne Menahem the sonne of Gadi to reigne ouer Israel ,
and reigned ten yeeres in Samaria .

And he did euill in the sight of the Lorde ,
and departed not all his dayes from the sinne of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat ,
which made Israel to sinne .

And ]
Pul the king of Assyria came against the (
note :)
That is ,
of Israel .(:

and Menahem gave Pul a thousand Instead of seeking help from God ,
he went about by money to purchase the favour of this king being an infidel and therefore God forsook him ,
and Pul soon afterward broke his promises ,
destroyed his country and led his people away captive .
talents of silver ,
that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand .

And Menahem exacted the money in Israel ,
that all men of substance shoulde giue the King of Asshur fiftie shekels of siluer a piece :
so the king of Asshur returned and taried not there in the land .

Concerning the rest of the actes of Menahem , &
amp ;
all that he did ,
are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel ?

And Menahem slept with his fathers ,
and Pekahiah his sonne did reigne in his steade .
