Exodus:4:18-6:12

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:4:18 @ And Moses went and returned to Jether his father–in–law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren that are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive; and Jithro said to Moses, Go in peace.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:4:19 @ And the Lord said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt; for all the men are dead who sought thy life.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:4:20 @ And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt; and Moses took the staff of God in his hand.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:4:21 @ And the Lord said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, regard well all the wonders which I have put in thy hand, and do them before Pharaoh; but I will harden his heart, and he will not let the people go.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:4:22 @ And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus hath said the Lord, My son, my first–born, is Israel.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:4:23 @ And I said unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me; and thou refusest to let him go; so, behold, I will slay thy son, thy first–born.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:4:24 @ And as he was on the journey in the inn, the Lord met him, and sought to kill him.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:4:25 @ Then took Zipporah a sharp instrument, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody relative art thou to me.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:4:26 @ And then he withdrew from him; when she said, A bloody relative, but only in respect of the circumcision.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:4:27 @ And the Lord said to Aaron, Go to meet Moses, into the wilderness; and he went and met him by the mount of God, and kissed him.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:4:28 @ And Moses told Aaron all the words of the Lord wherewith he had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:4:29 @ And Moses and Aaron went and assembled all the elders of the children of Israel:

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:4:30 @ And Aaron spoke all the words which the Lord had spoken unto Moses; and he did the signs before the eyes of the people.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:4:31 @ And the people believed: and when they heard that the Lord had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:1 @ And after that Moses and Aaron went in, and said unto Pharaoh, Thus hath said the Everlasting One, the God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:2 @ And Pharaoh said, Who is the Everlasting, whose voice I am to obey, to let Israel go? I know not the Everlasting, nor will I let Israel go.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:3 @ And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, a three days’ journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the Lord our God; lest he fall upon us with the pestilence, or with the sword.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:4 @ And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, hinder the people from their works? get you unto your own affairs.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:5 @ And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye disturb them in the pursuit of their labors.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:6 @ And Pharaoh commanded on the same day the taskmasters of the people, and its officers, saying,

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:7 @ Ye shall no more give the people straw to make the bricks, as yesterday and the day before; they themselves shall go and gather themselves straw.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:8 @ And the number of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall impose upon them, ye shall not diminish aught thereof; for they are idle: therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:9 @ Let the work be made to lie heavily upon the men, that they may have enough to do therein; and that they may not pay attention to false words.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:10 @ And the taskmasters of the people and its officers went out, and they said to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you any straw.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:11 @ Go ye, get yourselves straw from wherever ye can find it; yet not the least shall be taken off from your work.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:12 @ And the people scattered themselves abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:13 @ And the taskmasters were urgent, saying, Fulfill your works, every day its due portion, just as when there was straw.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:14 @ And the officers of the children of Israel, whom the taskmasters of Pharaoh had set over them, were beaten, as these said, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task in making brick as heretofore, both yesterday and today?

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:15 @ And the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants?

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:16 @ Straw is not given unto thy servants, and, Make bricks, say they to us: and, behold, thy servants are beaten, and thy people are treated as sinners.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:17 @ But he said, Idle are ye, idle; therefore say ye, Let us go and sacrifice to the Lord.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:18 @ And now go, work, and straw shall not be given you; yet the required number of bricks shall ye deliver.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:19 @ And the officers of the children of Israel saw themselves in the evil necessity to say, Ye shall not diminish aught from your bricks, every day of its task.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:20 @ And they met Moses and Aaron, standing in their way, as they came forth from Pharaoh.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:21 @ And they said unto them, May the Lord look upon you, and judge; because ye have made our savor to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:22 @ And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou let so much evil come upon this people? why is it that thou hast sent me?

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:5:23 @ For, since I came unto Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done more evil to this people; but thou hast in nowise delivered thy people.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:6:1 @ Then said the Lord unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh; for with a strong hand shall he send them away, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:6:2 @ And God spoke unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the Lord:

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:6:3 @ And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God, the Almighty, but by my name The Eternal was I not made known to them.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:6:4 @ And as I did also establish my covenant with them, to give unto them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they sojourned:

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:6:5 @ So have I also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians compel to labor; and I have remembered my covenant.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:6:6 @ Therefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the Eternal, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will release you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm, and with great judgments:

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:6:7 @ And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you for a God; and ye shall know that I am the Lord your God, who bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:6:8 @ And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning which I did lift up my hand to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for a heritage: I am the Lord.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:6:9 @ And Moses spoke thus unto the children of Israel; but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:6:10 @ And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:6:11 @ Go in, speak unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, that he shall let the children of Israel go out of his land.

sf_leeser_rev1@Exodus:6:12 @ And Moses spoke before the Lord, saying, Behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me: how then shall Pharaoh hear me, whereas I am of uncircumcised lips?
