Hebrews:9-10

* Then verily the first covenant had (5707 ) also ordinances of divine service , and a worldly sanctuary . * For there was a tabernacle made (5681 ); the first , wherein was the candlestick , and the table , and the shewbread ; which is called (5743 ) the sanctuary . * And after the second veil , the tabernacle which is called (5746 ) the Holiest of all ; * Which had (5723 ) the golden censer , and the ark of the covenant overlaid (5772 ) round about with gold , wherein was the golden pot that had (5723 ) manna , and Aarons rod that budded (5660 ), and the tables of the covenant ; * And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing (5723 ) the mercyseat ; of which we cannot (5748 ) now speak (5721 ) particularly . * Now when these things were thus ordained (5772 ), the priests went (5748 ) always into the first tabernacle , accomplishing (5723 ) the service of God . * But into the second went the high priest alone once every year , not without blood , which he offered (5719 ) for himself , and for the errors of the people : * The Holy Ghost this signifying (5723 ), that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest (5771 ), while as the first tabernacle was (5723 ) yet standing : * Which was a figure for the time then present (5761 ), in which were offered (5743 ) both gifts and sacrifices , that could (5740 ) not make him that did the service (5723 ) perfect (5658 ), as pertaining to the conscience ; * Which stood only in meats and drinks , and divers washings , and carnal ordinances , imposed (5740 ) on them until the time of reformation . * But Christ being come (5637 ) an high priest of good things to come (5723 ), by a greater and more perfect tabernacle , not made with hands , that is to say (5748 ), not of this building ; * Neither by the blood of goats and calves , but by his own blood he entered in (5627 ) once into the holy place , having obtained (5642 ) eternal redemption for us . * For if the blood of bulls and of goats , and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling (5723 ) the unclean (5772 ), sanctifieth (5719 ) to the purifying of the flesh : * How much more shall the blood of Christ , who through the eternal Spirit offered (5656 ) himself without spot to God , purge (5692 ) your conscience from dead works to serve (5721 ) the living (5723 ) God ? * And for this cause he is (5748 ) the mediator of the new testament , that by means (5637 ) of death , for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament , they which are called (5772 ) might receive (5632 ) the promise of eternal inheritance . * For where a testament is , there must also of necessity be (5745 ) the death of the testator (5642 ). * For a testament is of force after men are dead : otherwise it is of no strength (5719 ) at all while the testator (5642 ) liveth (5719 ). * Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated (5769 ) without blood . * For when Moses had spoken (5685 ) every precept to all the people according to the law , he took (5631 ) the blood of calves and of goats , with water , and scarlet wool , and hyssop , and sprinkled (5656 ) both the book , and all the people , * Saying (5723 ), This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined (5662 ) unto you . * Moreover he sprinkled (5656 ) with blood both the tabernacle , and all the vessels of the ministry . * And almost all things are by the law purged (5743 ) with blood ; and without shedding of blood is (5736 ) no remission . * It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified (5745 ) with these ; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these . * For Christ is not entered (5627 ) into the holy places made with hands , which are the figures of the true ; but into heaven itself , now to appear (5683 ) in the presence of God for s : * Nor yet that he should offer (5725 ) himself often , as the high priest entereth (5736 ) into the holy place every year with blood of others ; * For then must (5713 ) he often have suffered (5629 ) since the foundation of the world : but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared (5769 ) to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself . * And as it is appointed (5736 ) unto men once to die (5629 ), but after this the judgment : * So Christ was once offered (5685 ) to bear (5629 ) the sins of many ; and unto them that look (5740 ) for him shall he appear (5701 ) the second time without sin unto salvation . * For the law having (5723 ) a shadow of good things to come (5723 ), and not the very image of the things , can (5736 ) never with those sacrifices which they offered (5719 ) year by year continually make the comers thereunto (5740 ) perfect (5658 ). * For then would they not have ceased (5668 ) to be offered (5746 )? because that the worshippers (5723 ) once purged (5772 ) should have had (5721 ) no more conscience of sins . * But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year . * For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away (5721 ) sins . * Wherefore when he cometh (5740 ) into the world , he saith (5719 ), Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest (5656 ) not , but a body hast thou prepared (5668 ) me : * In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure (5656 ). * Then said I (5627 ), Lo (5628 ), I come (5719 ) (in the volume of the book it is written (5769 ) of me ,) to do (5658 ) thy will , O God . * Above when he said (5723 ), Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest (5656 ) not , neither hadst pleasure (5656 ) therein ; which are offered (5743 ) by the law ; * Then said he (5758 ), Lo (5628 ), I come (5719 ) to do (5658 ) thy will , O God . He taketh away (5719 ) the first , that he may establish (5661 ) the second . * By the which will we are (5748 ) sanctified (5772 ) through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all . * And every priest standeth (5707 ) (5758 ) daily ministering (5723 ) and offering (5723 ) oftentimes the same sacrifices , which can (5736 ) never take away (5629 ) sins : * But this man , after he had offered (5660 ) one sacrifice for sins for ever , sat down (5656 ) on the right hand of God ; * From henceforth expecting (5740 ) till his enemies be made (5686 ) his footstool . * For by one offering he hath perfected (5758 ) for ever them that are sanctified (5746 ). * Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness (5719 ) to us : for after that he had said before (5760 ), * This is the covenant that I will make (5695 ) with them after those days , saith (5719 ) the Lord , I will put (5723 ) my laws into their hearts , and in their minds will I write (5692 ) them ; * And their sins and iniquities will I remember (5686 ) no more . * Now where remission of these is , there is no more offering for sin . * Having (5723 ) therefore , brethren , boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus , * By a new and living (5723 ) way , which he hath consecrated (5656 ) for us , through the veil , that is to say (5748 ), his flesh ; * And having an high priest over the house of God ; * Let us draw near (5741 ) with a true heart in full assurance of faith , having our hearts sprinkled (5772 ) from an evil conscience , and our bodies washed (5772 ) with pure water . * Let us hold fast (5725 ) the profession of our faith without wavering ; (for he is faithful that promised (5666 );) * And let us consider (5725 ) one another to provoke unto love and to good works : * Not forsaking (5723 ) the assembling of ourselves together , as the manner of some is ; but exhorting (5723 ) one another : and so much the more , as ye see (5719 ) the day approaching (5723 ). * For if we sin (5723 ) wilfully after that we have received (5629 ) the knowledge of the truth , there remaineth (5743 ) no more sacrifice for sins , * But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation , which shall (5723 ) devour (5721 ) the adversaries . * He that despised (5660 ) Moses law died (5719 ) without mercy under two or three witnesses : * Of how much sorer punishment , suppose ye (5719 ), shall he be thought worthy (5701 ), who hath trodden under foot (5660 ) the Son of God , and hath counted (5666 ) the blood of the covenant , wherewith he was sanctified (5681 ), an unholy thing , and hath done despite (5660 ) unto the Spirit of grace ? * For we know (5758 ) him that hath said (5631 ), Vengeance belongeth unto me , I will recompense (5692 ), saith (5719 ) the Lord . And again , The Lord shall judge (5692 ) (5719 ) his people . * It is a fearful thing to fall (5629 ) into the hands of the living (5723 ) God . * But call to remembrance (5732 ) the former days , in which , after ye were illuminated (5685 ), ye endured (5656 ) a great fight of afflictions ; * Partly , whilst ye were made a gazingstock (5746 ) both by reproaches and afflictions ; and partly , whilst ye became (5679 ) companions of them that were so used (5746 ). * For ye had compassion (5656 ) of me in my bonds , and took (5662 ) joyfully the spoiling of your goods (5723 ), knowing (5723 ) in yourselves that ye have (5721 ) in heaven a better and an enduring (5723 ) substance . * Cast not away (5632 ) therefore your confidence , which hath (5719 ) great recompence of reward . * For ye have (5719 ) need of patience , that , after ye have done (5660 ) the will of God , ye might receive (5672 ) the promise . * For yet a little while , and he that shall come (5740 ) will come (5692 ), and will not tarry (5692 ). * Now the just shall live (5695 ) by faith : but if any man draw back (5672 ), my soul shall have no pleasure (5719 ) in him . * But we are (5748 ) not of them who draw back unto perdition ; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul . * Now faith is (5748 ) the substance of things hoped for (5746 ), the evidence of things not seen (5746 ).
