* And the scribes and Pharisees brought (5719 ) unto him a woman taken (5772 ) in adultery ; and when they had set (5660 ) her in the midst , * They say (5719 ) unto him , Master , this woman was taken (5681 ) in adultery (5746 ), in the very act . * Now Moses in the law commanded (5662 ) us , that such should be stoned (5745 ): but what sayest (5719 ) thou ? * This they said (5707 ), tempting (5723 ) him , that they might have (5725 ) to accuse (5721 ) him . But Jesus stooped (5660 ) down , and with his finger wrote (5707 ) on the ground , as though he heard (5740 ) them not . * So when they continued (5707 ) asking (5723 ) him , he lifted up himself (5660 ), and said (5627 ) unto them , He that is without sin among you , let him first cast (5628 ) a stone at her . * And again he stooped (5660 ) down , and wrote (5707 ) on the ground . * And they which heard (5660 ) it , being convicted (5746 ) by their own conscience , went out (5711 ) one by one , beginning (5671 ) at the eldest , even unto the last : and Jesus was left (5681 ) alone , and the woman standing (5761 ) in the midst . * When Jesus had lifted up himself (5660 ), and saw (5666 ) none but the woman , he said (5627 ) unto her , Woman , where are (5748 ) those thine accusers ? hath no man condemned (5656 ) thee ? * She said (5627 ), No man , Lord . And Jesus said (5627 ) unto her , Neither do I condemn (5719 ) thee : go (5737 ), and sin (5720 ) no more . * Then spake (5656 ) Jesus again unto them , saying (5723 ), I am (5748 ) the light of the world : he that followeth (5723 ) me shall not walk (5692 ) in darkness , but shall have (5692 ) the light of life . * The Pharisees therefore said (5627 ) unto him , Thou bearest record (5719 ) of thyself ; thy record is (5748 ) not true . * Jesus answered (5662 ) and said (5627 ) unto them , Though I bear record (5725 ) of myself , yet my record is (5748 ) true : for I know (5758 ) whence I came (5627 ), and whither I go (5719 ); but ye cannot tell (5758 ) whence I come (5736 ), and whither I go (5719 ). * Ye judge (5719 ) after the flesh ; I judge (5719 ) no man . * And yet if I judge (5725 ), my judgment is (5748 ) true : for I am (5748 ) not alone , but I and the Father that sent (5660 ) me . * It is also written (5769 ) in your law , that the testimony of two men is (5748 ) true . * I am (5748 ) one that bear witness (5723 ) of myself , and the Father that sent (5660 ) me beareth witness (5719 ) of me . * Then said they (5707 ) unto him , Where is (5748 ) thy Father ? Jesus answered (5662 ), Ye neither know (5758 ) me , nor my Father : if ye had known (5715 ) me , ye should have known (5715 ) my Father also . * These words spake (5656 ) Jesus in the treasury , as he taught (5723 ) in the temple : and no man laid hands (5656 ) on him ; for his hour was not yet come (5715 ).
