tcent Luke:20:9-19

tcent@Luke:20:9 @ Then he began to tell the people this parable: »A man planted a vineyard, leased it to vine-dressers, and went into another country for a long time.

tcent@Luke:20:10 @ At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants, that they would give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the tenants beat him and sent him away empty-handed.

tcent@Luke:20:11 @ He sent another servant; him also they beat and treated shamefully, and sent him away empty-handed.

tcent@Luke:20:12 @ He sent a third; and they wounded him and cast him out.

tcent@Luke:20:13 @ Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will respect him.’

tcent@Luke:20:14 @ But when the tenants saw him, they reasoned among themselves and said, ‘This is the heir. Let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.’

tcent@Luke:20:15 @ So they cast him out of the vineyard and killed him. What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them?

tcent@Luke:20:16 @ He will come and destroy those tenants, and give the vineyard to others.« When they heard this, they said, »May this never be!«

tcent@Luke:20:17 @ But he looked at them and said, »What then is this that is written:

tcent@Luke:20:18 @ Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.«

tcent@Luke:20:19 @ The chief priests and the scribes sought to lay hands on him that very hour, but they feared the people—for they knew that he had spoken this parable against them.
