They came to Jericho .
As Jesus was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a large crowd ,
Bartimaeus (

a blind beggar ,
was sitting by the roadside .

When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene ,
he began to cry out and say , "
Son of David ,
Jesus ,
pity me !"

Jesus stopped and said ,
They called the blind man ,
saying , "
Courage ;
rise up ;
he is calling you ."

He ,
throwing aside his cloak ,
sprang up and came to Jesus .

Jesus said to him ,
The blind man said , "
Rabboni ,
I want to regain my sight ."

Jesus said ,
At once he could see and followed Jesus along the road .
