And while he taught in the temple ,
Jesus said ,
How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the Son of David ?

For David himself said by the Holy Spirit ,
The LORD said to my Lord ,
Sit on my right hand ,
until I put your enemies under your feet .
*
Therefore ,
David himself calls him Lord ;
so how can he be his son ?
And the great crowd heard him gladly .
*
And in his teaching he said to them ,
Beware of the scribes ,
who love to go about in long clothing ,
and love greetings in the marketplaces ,
*
And the chief seats in the synagogues ,
and places of honour at feasts :
*
They devour widows '
houses ,
and for a pretence make long prayers :
these shall receive greater condemnation .
