Matthew:12:1-14

mkjv@Matthew:12:1 @ At that time Jesus went through the grain fields on the sabbath day. And His disciples were hungry, and began to pluck the heads [of grain] and to eat.

mkjv@Matthew:12:2 @ But when the Pharisees saw, they said to Him, Behold, your disciples do that which it is not lawful to do on the sabbath day.

mkjv@Matthew:12:3 @ But He said to them, Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him,

mkjv@Matthew:12:4 @ how he entered into the house of God and ate the showbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests?

mkjv@Matthew:12:5 @ Or have you not read in the Law that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath and are blameless?

mkjv@Matthew:12:6 @ But I say to you that [One] greater than the temple is in this place.

mkjv@Matthew:12:7 @ But if you had known what [this] is, I desire mercy and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned those who are not guilty.

mkjv@Matthew:12:8 @ For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath.

mkjv@Matthew:12:9 @ And when He had departed from there, He went into their synagogue.

mkjv@Matthew:12:10 @ And behold, a man having [a] withered hand. And they asked Him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbaths? This so that they might accuse Him.

mkjv@Matthew:12:11 @ And He said to them, What man among you will be, who will have one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the sabbaths, will he not lay hold on it and lift [it] out?

mkjv@Matthew:12:12 @ How much better is a man then than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

mkjv@Matthew:12:13 @ Then He said to the man, Stretch out your hand. And he stretched [it] out, and it was restored whole like the other.

mkjv@Matthew:12:14 @ Then the Pharisees went out and held council against Him, as to how they might destroy Him.
