Matthew:23-24

mkjv@Matthew:23:1 @ Then Jesus spoke to the crowd and to His disciples,

mkjv@Matthew:23:2 @ saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat.

mkjv@Matthew:23:3 @ Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, observe and do. But do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do.

mkjv@Matthew:23:4 @ For they bind heavy and hard-to-carry burdens and lay [them] on men's shoulders. But they will not move them with one of their finger.

mkjv@Matthew:23:5 @ But they do all their works in order to be seen of men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments.

mkjv@Matthew:23:6 @ And they love the first couch at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

mkjv@Matthew:23:7 @ and greetings in the market-places, and to be called, Rabbi! Rabbi! by men.

mkjv@Matthew:23:8 @ But you must not be called Rabbi, for One is your teacher, Christ, and you are all brothers.

mkjv@Matthew:23:9 @ And call no one your father on the earth, for One is your Father in Heaven.

mkjv@Matthew:23:10 @ Nor be called teachers, for One is your Teacher, even Christ.

mkjv@Matthew:23:11 @ But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant.

mkjv@Matthew:23:12 @ And whoever shall exalt himself shall be abased, and he who shall humble himself shall be exalted.

mkjv@Matthew:23:13 @ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of Heaven against men. For you neither go in, nor do you allow those entering to go in.

mkjv@Matthew:23:14 @ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows' houses, and pray at length as a pretense. Therefore you shall receive the greater condemnation.

mkjv@Matthew:23:15 @ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you compass sea and the dry [land] to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

mkjv@Matthew:23:16 @ Woe to you, blind guides, saying, Whoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor.

mkjv@Matthew:23:17 @ Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold?

mkjv@Matthew:23:18 @ And, Whoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, [he is] a debtor!

mkjv@Matthew:23:19 @ Fools and blind! For which [is] greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift?

mkjv@Matthew:23:20 @ Therefore whoever shall swear by the altar swears by it, and by all things on it.

mkjv@Matthew:23:21 @ And whoever shall swear by the temple, swears by it and by Him who dwells in it.

mkjv@Matthew:23:22 @ And he who shall swear by Heaven swears by the throne of God, and by Him who sits on it.

mkjv@Matthew:23:23 @ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithes of mint and dill and cummin, and you have left undone the weightier [matters] of the Law, judgment, mercy, and faith. You ought to have done these and not to leave the other undone.

mkjv@Matthew:23:24 @ Blind guides who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!

mkjv@Matthew:23:25 @ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside they are full of extortion and excess.

mkjv@Matthew:23:26 @ Blind Pharisee! First cleanse the inside of the cup and of the dish, so that the outside of them may be clean also.

mkjv@Matthew:23:27 @ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which indeed appear beautiful outside, but inside they are full of dead [men's] bones, and of all uncleanness.

mkjv@Matthew:23:28 @ Even so you also appear righteous to men outwardly, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

mkjv@Matthew:23:29 @ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets, and decorate the tombs of the righteous,

mkjv@Matthew:23:30 @ and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

mkjv@Matthew:23:31 @ Therefore you are witnesses to yourselves, that you are the sons of those who killed the prophets;

mkjv@Matthew:23:32 @ and you fill up the measure of your fathers.

mkjv@Matthew:23:33 @ Serpents! Offspring of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell?

mkjv@Matthew:23:34 @ Therefore, behold, I send prophets and wise men and scribes to you. And you will kill and crucify [some] of them. And some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city;

mkjv@Matthew:23:35 @ so that on you may come all [the] righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah the son of Berachiah, whom you killed between the temple and the altar.

mkjv@Matthew:23:36 @ Truly I say to you, All these things shall come on this generation.

mkjv@Matthew:23:37 @ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the [one] killing the prophets and stoning those who are sent to her, how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under [her] wings, and you would not!

mkjv@Matthew:23:38 @ Behold, your house is left to you desolate.

mkjv@Matthew:23:39 @ For I say to you, You shall not see Me from now on until you say, Blessed [is] He who comes in [the] name of the Lord.

mkjv@Matthew:24:1 @ And Jesus went out and departed from the temple. And His disciples came to [Him] to show Him the buildings of the temple.

mkjv@Matthew:24:2 @ And Jesus said to them, Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, There shall not be left here one stone on another that shall not be thrown down.

mkjv@Matthew:24:3 @ And as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? And what [shall be] the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the world?

mkjv@Matthew:24:4 @ And Jesus answered and said to them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

mkjv@Matthew:24:5 @ For many will come in My name, saying, I am Christ, and will deceive many.

mkjv@Matthew:24:6 @ And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled, for all [these things] must occur; but the end is not yet.

mkjv@Matthew:24:7 @ For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in different places.

mkjv@Matthew:24:8 @ All these [are] the beginning of sorrows.

mkjv@Matthew:24:9 @ Then they will deliver you up to be afflicted and will kill you. And you will be hated of all nations for My name's sake.

mkjv@Matthew:24:10 @ And then many will be offended, and will betray one another, and will hate one another.

mkjv@Matthew:24:11 @ And many false prophets will rise and deceive many.

mkjv@Matthew:24:12 @ And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many will become cold.

mkjv@Matthew:24:13 @ But he who endures to [the] end, the same shall be kept safe.

mkjv@Matthew:24:14 @ And this gospel of the kingdom shall be proclaimed in all the world as a witness to all nations. And then the end shall come.

mkjv@Matthew:24:15 @ Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place (whoever reads, let him understand).

mkjv@Matthew:24:16 @ Then let those in Judea flee into the mountains.

mkjv@Matthew:24:17 @ Let him on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house;

mkjv@Matthew:24:18 @ nor let him in the field turn back to take his clothes.

mkjv@Matthew:24:19 @ And woe to those who are with child, and to those who give suck in those days!

mkjv@Matthew:24:20 @ But pray that your flight is not in the winter, nor on the sabbath day;

mkjv@Matthew:24:21 @ for then shall be great tribulation, such as has not been since [the] beginning of [the] world to this time; no, nor ever shall be.

mkjv@Matthew:24:22 @ And unless those days should be shortened, no flesh would be saved. But for the elect's sake, those days shall be shortened.

mkjv@Matthew:24:23 @ Then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here [is] Christ! Or, There! Do not believe it.

mkjv@Matthew:24:24 @ For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders; so much so that, if [it were] possible, they would deceive even the elect.

mkjv@Matthew:24:25 @ Behold, I have told you beforehand.

mkjv@Matthew:24:26 @ Therefore if they shall say to you, Behold, [He is] in the desert! Do not go out. Behold, [He is] in the secret rooms! Do not believe it.

mkjv@Matthew:24:27 @ For as the lightning comes out of [the] east and shines even to [the] west, so also will be the coming of the Son of man.

mkjv@Matthew:24:28 @ For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered.

mkjv@Matthew:24:29 @ And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.

mkjv@Matthew:24:30 @ And then the sign of the Son of man shall appear in the heavens. And then all the tribes of the earth shall mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of the heaven with power and great glory.

mkjv@Matthew:24:31 @ And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of [the] heavens to the other.

mkjv@Matthew:24:32 @ Now learn a parable of the fig tree. When its branch is still tender and puts out leaves, you know that summer [is] near.

mkjv@Matthew:24:33 @ So you, likewise, when you see all these things, shall know that it is near, [at] the doors.

mkjv@Matthew:24:34 @ Truly I say to you, This generation shall not pass until all these things are fulfilled.

mkjv@Matthew:24:35 @ The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.

mkjv@Matthew:24:36 @ But of that day and hour no one knows, no, not the angels of Heaven, but only My Father.

mkjv@Matthew:24:37 @ But as the days of Noah [were], so shall be the coming of the Son of man.

mkjv@Matthew:24:38 @ For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until [the] day Noah entered into the ark.

mkjv@Matthew:24:39 @ And they did not know until the flood came and took them all away. So also will be the coming of the Son of man.

mkjv@Matthew:24:40 @ Then two shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

mkjv@Matthew:24:41 @ Two shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

mkjv@Matthew:24:42 @ Therefore watch; for you do not know what hour your Lord comes.

mkjv@Matthew:24:43 @ But know this, that if the steward of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched and would not have allowed his house to be dug through.

mkjv@Matthew:24:44 @ Therefore you also be ready, for in that hour you think not, the Son of man comes.

mkjv@Matthew:24:45 @ Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his Lord has made ruler over His household, to give them food in due season?

mkjv@Matthew:24:46 @ Blessed [is] that servant whom his Lord shall find him doing so when He comes.

mkjv@Matthew:24:47 @ Truly I say to you that He shall make him ruler over all His goods.

mkjv@Matthew:24:48 @ But if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My Lord delays His coming,

mkjv@Matthew:24:49 @ and shall begin to strike [his] fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken,

mkjv@Matthew:24:50 @ the Lord of that servant shall come in a day when he does not look for [Him], and in an hour which he does not know.

mkjv@Matthew:24:51 @ And He shall cut him apart and appoint [him] his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

mkjv@Matthew:25:1 @ Then shall the kingdom of Heaven be likened to ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
