Numbers:30-32

mkjv@Numbers:30:1 @ And Moses spoke to the heads of the tribes concerning the sons of Israel, saying, This [is] the thing which the LORD has commanded:

mkjv@Numbers:30:2 @ If a man vows a vow to the LORD, or swears an oath to bind his soul with a bond, he shall not break his word. He shall do according to all that comes out of his mouth.

mkjv@Numbers:30:3 @ [If] a woman also vows a vow to the LORD, and binds herself by a bond, [being] in her father's house in her youth,

mkjv@Numbers:30:4 @ and [if] her father hears her vow and her bond with which she has bound her soul, and [if] her father is silent as to her, then all her vows shall stand, and every bond with which she has bound her soul shall stand.

mkjv@Numbers:30:5 @ But [if] her father does not allow her in the day that he hears, not any of her vows or of her bonds with which she has bound her soul shall stand. And the LORD shall forgive her because her father did not allow her.

mkjv@Numbers:30:6 @ And [if] she had a husband when she vowed, or if she said anything rash out of her lips with which she bound her soul,

mkjv@Numbers:30:7 @ and [if] her husband heard and is silent as to her in the day that he heard, then her vows shall stand, and her bonds with which she bound her soul shall stand.

mkjv@Numbers:30:8 @ But [if] her husband did not allow her on the day that he heard it, then he shall make her vow which she vowed, and that which she uttered with her lips, with which she bound her soul, of no effect. And the LORD shall forgive her.

mkjv@Numbers:30:9 @ But every vow of a widow and of her who is divorced, all which she has bound on her soul shall stand against her.

mkjv@Numbers:30:10 @ And if she vowed in her husband's house, or bound her soul by a bond with an oath,

mkjv@Numbers:30:11 @ and [if] her husband heard and is silent as to her, and did not forbid her, then all her vows shall stand, and every bond with which she bound her soul shall stand.

mkjv@Numbers:30:12 @ But if her husband has certainly broken them on the day he heard, whatever comes out of her lips concerning her vows or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand. Her husband has broken them. And the LORD shall forgive her.

mkjv@Numbers:30:13 @ Every vow and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her husband may establish it, or her husband may break it.

mkjv@Numbers:30:14 @ But [if] her husband is altogether silent as to her from day to day, then he establishes all her vows or all her bonds which [are] on her. He confirms them, because he was silent as to her in the day that he heard.

mkjv@Numbers:30:15 @ But [if] he at all breaks them after he has heard, then he has borne her iniquity.

mkjv@Numbers:30:16 @ These [are] the statutes which the LORD commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between the father and his daughter in her youth in her father's house.

mkjv@Numbers:31:1 @ And the LORD spoke to Moses saying,

mkjv@Numbers:31:2 @ Avenge the sons of Israel from the Midianites. Afterward you shall be gathered to your people.

mkjv@Numbers:31:3 @ And Moses spoke to the people saying, Arm some of yourselves to the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the LORD on Midian.

mkjv@Numbers:31:4 @ You shall send to the war a thousand from every tribe, throughout all the tribes of Israel.

mkjv@Numbers:31:5 @ So there were delivered out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of [every] tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.

mkjv@Numbers:31:6 @ And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand of [every] tribe. He sent them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the holy instruments and the trumpets to blow in his hand.

mkjv@Numbers:31:7 @ And [they] warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses. And [they] killed all the males.

mkjv@Numbers:31:8 @ And they killed the kings of Midian, besides the rest of their slain: Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam the son of Beor with the sword.

mkjv@Numbers:31:9 @ And the sons of Israel took [all] the women of Midian captive, and their little ones, and the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.

mkjv@Numbers:31:10 @ And they burned with fire all their cities, their homes, and all their towers.

mkjv@Numbers:31:11 @ And they took all the spoil and all the prey of men and animals.

mkjv@Numbers:31:12 @ And they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, to Moses and to Eleazar the priest, and to the congregation of the sons of Israel, to the camp at the plains of Moab, which [are] beside Jordan, [at] Jericho.

mkjv@Numbers:31:13 @ And Moses and Eleazar the priest, and all the rulers of the congregation, went forth to meet them outside the camp.

mkjv@Numbers:31:14 @ And Moses was angry with the officers of the army, the captains over thousands and captains over hundreds, who came from the battle.

mkjv@Numbers:31:15 @ And Moses said to them, Have you saved all the women alive?

mkjv@Numbers:31:16 @ Behold, these caused the sons of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit sin against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and the plague was on the congregation of the LORD.

mkjv@Numbers:31:17 @ And now kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that has known man by lying with him.

mkjv@Numbers:31:18 @ But all the female children that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

mkjv@Numbers:31:19 @ And stay outside the camp seven days. Whosoever has killed any person, and whoever has touched any dead one, purify yourselves and your captives on the third day and on the seventh day.

mkjv@Numbers:31:20 @ And purify all clothing, and all that is made of skin, and all work of goats' [hair], and all things made of wood.

mkjv@Numbers:31:21 @ And Eleazar the priest said to the men of war who went to battle, This [is] the ordinance of the law which the LORD commanded Moses.

mkjv@Numbers:31:22 @ Only the gold and the silver, the bronze, the iron, the tin, and the lead,

mkjv@Numbers:31:23 @ everything that can stand the fire, you shall make go through the fire, and it shall be clean. Only it shall be purified with the water of separation. And all that cannot stand the fire you shall make go through the water.

mkjv@Numbers:31:24 @ And you shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and you shall be clean, and afterwards you shall come into the camp.

mkjv@Numbers:31:25 @ And the LORD spoke to Moses saying,

mkjv@Numbers:31:26 @ Count the prey that was taken of man and of animal, you and Eleazar the priest and the heads of the fathers of the congregation.

mkjv@Numbers:31:27 @ And divide the prey into two parts: between those skilled in the battle, who went out to war, and between all the congregation.

mkjv@Numbers:31:28 @ And levy a tax for the LORD from the men of war who went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, of the persons and of the beeves, and of the asses, and of the flock.

mkjv@Numbers:31:29 @ Take from their half and give it to Eleazar the priest, a heave offering to the LORD.

mkjv@Numbers:31:30 @ And from the sons of Israel's half you shall take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the beeves, of the asses, of the flocks, of all kinds of animals, and give them to the Levites who keep the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD.

mkjv@Numbers:31:31 @ And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the LORD commanded Moses.

mkjv@Numbers:31:32 @ And the prize, the rest of the spoil which the men of war had captured, was six hundred and seventy-five thousand sheep,

mkjv@Numbers:31:33 @ seventy-two thousand beef cattle,

mkjv@Numbers:31:34 @ sixty-one thousand asses,

mkjv@Numbers:31:35 @ and thirty-two thousand persons in all, of women that had not known [a man] by lying [with] a male.

mkjv@Numbers:31:36 @ And the half, the portion of those who went out to war, the number of the flock [was] three hundred thirty-seven thousand, five hundred;

mkjv@Numbers:31:37 @ and the LORD's tax of the sheep was six hundred and seventy-five.

mkjv@Numbers:31:38 @ And the beef cattle [were] thirty-six thousand, of which the LORD's tax [was] seventy-two.

mkjv@Numbers:31:39 @ And the asses, thirty thousand, five hundred, of which the LORD's tax [was] sixty-one.

mkjv@Numbers:31:40 @ And the persons [were] sixteen thousand, of which the LORD's tax [was] thirty-two persons.

mkjv@Numbers:31:41 @ And Moses gave the tax, the LORD's heave offering, to Eleazar the priest, as the LORD commanded Moses.

mkjv@Numbers:31:42 @ And of the sons of Israel's half, which Moses divided from the men who warred;

mkjv@Numbers:31:43 @ even the congregation's half was three hundred thirty-seven thousand, five hundred sheep,

mkjv@Numbers:31:44 @ and thirty-six thousand beef cattle,

mkjv@Numbers:31:45 @ and thirty thousand and five hundred asses,

mkjv@Numbers:31:46 @ and sixteen thousand persons;

mkjv@Numbers:31:47 @ even of the sons of Israel's half, Moses took one portion in fifty, of man and of animal, and gave them to the Levites who kept the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD, --even as the LORD commanded Moses.

mkjv@Numbers:31:48 @ And the officers who [were] over thousands of the army, over the captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, came near Moses.

mkjv@Numbers:31:49 @ And they said to Moses, Your servants have counted the men of war who [are] under our charge, and there is not one man of us lacking.

mkjv@Numbers:31:50 @ And we bring an offering for the LORD, what every man has found, of jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an atonement for our souls before the LORD.

mkjv@Numbers:31:51 @ And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from them, all crafted things.

mkjv@Numbers:31:52 @ And all the gold of the offering that they offered up to the LORD, of the commanders of thousands, and of the commanders of hundreds, was sixteen thousand, seven hundred and fifty shekels.

mkjv@Numbers:31:53 @ [For] the men of war had taken spoil, every man for himself.

mkjv@Numbers:31:54 @ And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tabernacle of the congregation, [for] a memorial for the sons of Israel before the LORD.

mkjv@Numbers:32:1 @ And the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle. And when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, behold, the place [was] a place for cattle.

mkjv@Numbers:32:2 @ And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben came and spoke to Moses and to Eleazar the priest, and to the rulers of the congregation, saying,

mkjv@Numbers:32:3 @ Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon,

mkjv@Numbers:32:4 @ the land which the LORD struck before the congregation of Israel, [is] a land for cattle, and your servants [have] cattle.

mkjv@Numbers:32:5 @ And, they said, If we have found grace in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession; do not bring us over Jordan.

mkjv@Numbers:32:6 @ And Moses said to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben, Shall your brothers go to war, and shall you sit here?

mkjv@Numbers:32:7 @ And why do you break the heart of the sons of Israel from going over into the land which the LORD has given them?

mkjv@Numbers:32:8 @ So your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land.

mkjv@Numbers:32:9 @ For when they went up into the valley of Eshcol and saw the land, they broke the hearts of the sons of Israel, so that they should not go into the land which the LORD had given them.

mkjv@Numbers:32:10 @ And the LORD's anger was kindled the same time, and He swore, saying,

mkjv@Numbers:32:11 @ Surely, none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and up, shall see the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, because they have not fully followed Me,

mkjv@Numbers:32:12 @ except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun, for they have fully followed the LORD.

mkjv@Numbers:32:13 @ And the LORD's anger was kindled against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years until all the generation which had done evil in the sight of the LORD was destroyed.

mkjv@Numbers:32:14 @ And behold, you are risen up in your fathers' stead, an increase of sinful men, to add still more to the fierce anger of the LORD toward Israel.

mkjv@Numbers:32:15 @ For if you turn away from after Him, He will yet again leave them in the wilderness. And you shall destroy all this people.

mkjv@Numbers:32:16 @ And they came near to him and said, We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones,

mkjv@Numbers:32:17 @ but we ourselves will go ready armed before the sons of Israel until we have brought them to their place. And our little ones shall live in the fenced cities because of those who live in the land.

mkjv@Numbers:32:18 @ We will not return to our houses until the sons of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance.

mkjv@Numbers:32:19 @ For we will not inherit with them on the other side of Jordan, or forward, because our inheritance has fallen to us on this side of Jordan, eastward.

mkjv@Numbers:32:20 @ And Moses said to them, If you will do this thing, if you will go armed before the LORD to war,

mkjv@Numbers:32:21 @ and all of you will go armed over Jordan before the LORD until He has driven out His enemies from before Him,

mkjv@Numbers:32:22 @ and the land is subdued before the LORD, then afterwards you shall return and be guiltless before the LORD and before Israel. And this land shall be your possession before the LORD.

mkjv@Numbers:32:23 @ But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the LORD. And be sure your sin will find you out.

mkjv@Numbers:32:24 @ Build cities for your little ones and folds for your sheep, and do that which has come out of your mouth.

mkjv@Numbers:32:25 @ And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben spoke to Moses saying, Your servants will do as my lord commands.

mkjv@Numbers:32:26 @ Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our cattle, shall be there in the cities of Gilead.

mkjv@Numbers:32:27 @ But your servants will go over, every man armed for war, before the LORD to battle, as my lord says.

mkjv@Numbers:32:28 @ So regarding them Moses commanded Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the chief fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel.

mkjv@Numbers:32:29 @ And Moses said to them, If the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben will go with you over Jordan, each armed to battle before the LORD, and the land shall be humbled before you, then you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession.

mkjv@Numbers:32:30 @ But if they will not go over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.

mkjv@Numbers:32:31 @ And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben answered, saying, As the LORD has said to your servants, so we will do.

mkjv@Numbers:32:32 @ We will go over armed before the LORD [into] the land of Canaan, so that the possession of our inheritance on this side Jordan [may be] ours.

mkjv@Numbers:32:33 @ And Moses gave to them, to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben, and to the half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land with its cities in the borders, the cities of the land all around.

mkjv@Numbers:32:34 @ And the sons of Gad built Dibon and Ataroth and Aroer,

mkjv@Numbers:32:35 @ and Atroth, Shophan, and Jaazer, and Jogbehah,

mkjv@Numbers:32:36 @ and Beth-nimrah, and Beth-haran, fortified cities. And they built folds for sheep.

mkjv@Numbers:32:37 @ And the sons of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kirjath-aim,

mkjv@Numbers:32:38 @ and Nebo, and Baal-meon (their names being changed) and Sibmah, and they gave other names to the cities which they built.

mkjv@Numbers:32:39 @ And the sons of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead and took it, and put out the Amorite who [was] in it.

mkjv@Numbers:32:40 @ And Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh, and he lived in it.

mkjv@Numbers:32:41 @ And Jair the son of Manasseh went and took the small towns of it, and called them Havoth-jair.

mkjv@Numbers:32:42 @ And Nobah went and took Kenath and its villages, and called it Nobah after his own name.

mkjv@Numbers:33:1 @ These [are] the journeys of the sons of Israel, who went forth out of the land of Egypt with their armies under the hand of Moses and Aaron.
