Today's Verse:

kjv@Matthew:26:6-13

kjv@Matthew:26:6 @ Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

kjv@Matthew:26:7 @ There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.

kjv@Matthew:26:8 @ But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?

kjv@Matthew:26:9 @ For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.

kjv@Matthew:26:10 @ When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.

kjv@Matthew:26:11 @ For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

kjv@Matthew:26:12 @ For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.

kjv@Matthew:26:13 @ Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

Key Messages:

What does this say about our present condition?
  1. One out of many had the Lord's death and burial on her mind. The mind is most likely in these times to prioritize according to denials (partial?) and justification (self) and suspicions of others intents, therefore lending the majority to near immediate judgment.
  2. The suspicion/judgment may have been made by one or few people initially, but others no doubt came (were brought) to the same conclusion upon the murmur of accusation. Others may have technically remained passive, but the product of the group equates to the same.
  3. An intention, even a bold expensive charitable notion to the poor can appear to be sound and spiritual, but at it's core be made indifferent by certain occasion/situation. Certain environments trump best though common understanding, the impending sacrifice of our Lord being one. Thankfully we have this woman as a constant reminder not to overlook the obvious opportunities for pure unadulterated reverence.
