Today's Verse:

kjv@Luke:1:26-38

kjv@Luke:1:26 @ And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

kjv@Luke:1:27 @ To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

kjv@Luke:1:28 @ And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

kjv@Luke:1:29 @ And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

kjv@Luke:1:30 @ And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

kjv@Luke:1:31 @ And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

kjv@Luke:1:32 @ He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

kjv@Luke:1:33 @ And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

kjv@Luke:1:34 @ Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

kjv@Luke:1:35 @ And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

kjv@Luke:1:36 @ And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

kjv@Luke:1:37 @ For with God nothing shall be impossible.

kjv@Luke:1:38 @ And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Notes:

Should we ask of the people of Nazareth if there was not in this same time frame a young soon to be married woman claiming to be virgin standing pregnant with what her once reserved fiancee quickly accepted to be the miraculous conception of Israel's promised Messiah? Should we ask if the couple did not go at the census to the City of David Bethlehem and not return till after hiding out in Egypt years latter? Should we ask of the Shepherds there near Bethlehem? Shall we we ask the surrounding region of Bethlehem if their children two years and younger were not later targeted by King Herod and brutally murdered in an effort to cease this same young child? Had it not been so, Luke and the other gospel writers would have bitterly been contested on any of these many specific details. They for the most part were contested only as to what these factual things could have meant in the theological scheme of things as far as we can tell.

Does this not add to the certainty being declared? If you were this Theophilus, would not the angles of other's self defense to these allegations be just as concerning as the evidences presented? We of course in this age do not have access to all of these articles of reference and debate, but we do have the overwhelming evidence that these declarations caught on like wild fire; fires to which the authorities of that time unsuccessfully attempted to quench. How could these flames remain if there was not the perception (if not accumulating confirmation) of certainty?
