Before John is even born word is spread into the hill country; curiosity and expectation is roused. And by whom/what? John's influence ahead of Christ is perhaps much underestimated by us as modern readers. Said by Jesus to be the greatest prophet born of woman. The task of returning father's hearts to their children and the wicked toward the ways of the just in preparation for Christ from the beginning was a sizable task requiring the work of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is seen using the fears/oddity and calculations of men to further the work and establish John as HIS own.
Remember this initial fame as the child John grows into his adult ministry.

Declaring Certainty: Likewise, we should consider that the means and manners of declaring the gospel's certainty a product of the Spirit as well.
