Today's Verse:

kjv@Luke:2:21-40

kjv@Luke:2:21 @ And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

kjv@Luke:2:22 @ And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;

kjv@Luke:2:23 @ (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;)

kjv@Luke:2:24 @ And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.

kjv@Luke:2:25 @ And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

kjv@Luke:2:26 @ And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

kjv@Luke:2:27 @ And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

kjv@Luke:2:28 @ Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,

kjv@Luke:2:29 @ Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:

kjv@Luke:2:30 @ For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

kjv@Luke:2:31 @ Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;

kjv@Luke:2:32 @ A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

kjv@Luke:2:33 @ And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.

kjv@Luke:2:34 @ And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;

kjv@Luke:2:35 @ (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

kjv@Luke:2:36 @ And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;

kjv@Luke:2:37 @ And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

kjv@Luke:2:38 @ And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

kjv@Luke:2:39 @ And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

kjv@Luke:2:40 @ And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

Notes:

Note that it is not mom and dad making the child known to others, it is the Holy Ghost making the child known through complete strangers to others. Beyond just identifying the Christ child, Simeon also identifies God's setting the child up to be the fall and rising of many in Israel.

There is a logical conundrum present that men do not believe in God insisting that God has not revealed Himself and yet holding that HE cannot. True, any one could say that God has revealed this/that to them, but only few can still prove it. For the past two thousand years (and counting) the revelation Simeon claimed from God has proved to be true quite literally: the world at large would reject and has rejected this Messiah based upon what He would reveal of each of them. This was known somehow by him not even having heard the child speak yet.

God's declaration of Son Jesus is to be the revealing of many of men's/women's thoughts and hearts; in this present sinful state not a pretty picture, a revelation they themselves will speak against. The message is never an easy message to convey, not then, not now. It will always be mostly rejected not because it is not true, but because it certainly is (if/when viewed from God's top down vantage).

The case continues to be developed. People of that time who frequented the temple would know of Anna if she was there serving night and day, and apparently she was quite vocal about the revelation made to her.

Salvation has been prepared before the face of all people in large measure due to God's long history of dealings with one peculiar people Israel whom all others would have had familiar eye upon. (see: kjv@STRING:all+people)

Key Messages:

Declaring Certainty

kjv@Deuteronomy:28:10 @ And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.

kjv@Deuteronomy:10:21 @ He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.

kjv@Psalms:98:3 @ He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

kjv@John:3:19 @ And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

kjv@John:3:20 @ For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
