Notes:

The mention of eight days following is likely employed to attach the meaning of this passage to the fulfillment of the previous. It is six days mentioned kjv@Matthew:17:1 kjv@Mark:9:2. All three directly connected to "some...not tasting of death till" as in kjv@Luke:9:27. Because of kjv@Matthew:16:27, many have taken this fulfillment to mean at His second coming, that some standing there on this day will not have died when He returns which presents an observable contradiction. Instead it could mean that the glory He will be coming in is the same glory that Peter James and John would see in 6-8 days from this day. He could also be talking of His Resurrection or the Pentecost or all three.

It is put "see coming in his kingdom" in kjv@Matthew:16:28 and "seen the kingdom of God come with power" kjv@Mark:9:1 where here it is "see the kingdom of God". kjv@Matthew:3:2 kjv@Matthew:4:17 kjv@Matthew:10:7 all suggest that the kingdom is already here, where kjv@Luke:21:31 suggests that it is also coming. Both statements can be simultaneously true if the Kingdom is seen in the person of it's King Christ Jesus. If the three were heavy with sleep and awoke to find the King "coming" towards them lighted by the Father's glorious confirmation physically transfigured upon Him, one would be seeing the "coming in His kingdom" and the "the kingdom.. come with power". Would they not?

The message appears to be that the "Kingdom" and the "King" are inseparable; where ever "He" goes "it" goes. If "He" is in our hearts "It" is in our hearts as well. If "He" is in Heaven "It" is in Heaven as well. His Kingdom is not of this world because neither is He. He is of His Father and therefore it is His Father's Kingdom as well. When the King is left to Heaven we can still preach that the Kingdom is at hand because the King is now known to us and His transformative effect and reign is present upon our hearts even while He physically is in Heaven preparing to return.

While Moses' glory having received the Law hidden behind the veil was observed to fade, Christ's glory upon him is open and everlasting; as is the symbolic glory of the prophets represented here by Elijah.
