( FaithOfJesus thread begun by rRandyP )

Today's Verse:

kjv@Matthew:13:24-30

kjv@Matthew:13:24 @ Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

kjv@Matthew:13:25 @ But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

kjv@Matthew:13:26 @ But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

kjv@Matthew:13:27 @ So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?

kjv@Matthew:13:28 @ He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

kjv@Matthew:13:29 @ But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

kjv@Matthew:13:30 @ Let both grow together until the harvest; and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Today's notes: Tares

Context:

What is man believing/doing?:

What is making man to believe/do as he is doing?:

Notes:

The angels have immediately determined/reported the presence of tares in the field, they feel themselves to have the immediate ability to remove the tares at that time. The question then becomes how would the wheat be uprooted in the process. The answer may not have anything to do with the householder or the angels, but in how the man perceives the action against the tare taking sides with the tare, themselves not being able to identify the difference.

The seed planted properly is known by the previous to be the word and by the coming explanation as the children of the kingdom (children carrying the word); read then children of the word, the word engrafts itself into/becomes the children. The enemy cannot produce humans of it's own so similarly its seed is its word that engrafts itself into/becomes the children.

Why did the Lord not protect the the field from the enemy while He appeared to sleep? Because before the future harvest comes He deems it important for the man to be able to discern the difference between what He has sown and what the enemy has sown for themselves. The words being engrafted are not known by their present appearance but by their eventual fruit (or fruitlessness).

Key Messages:

What does this say about our present condition?
  1. Most that heard this parable having just been told that parables intentionally hide the true meaning, that the meaning must be given to be understood, went away from this never asking for the meaning to be given. It is either of no concern to them or else is something that they think they can readily figure out (God must not have hid it well so they think).
  2. The similarity in the appearance of wheat and tare is not distinguishable to the casual onlooker. There is alliance of thought made of the similarity that we would likely be offended/uprooted by should an external division be attempted.
