kjv@Revelation:14:12 @ Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

( FaithOfJesus thread begun by rRandyP )

Today's Verse:

kjv@Matthew:13:47-52

kjv@Matthew:13:47 @ Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind;

kjv@Matthew:13:48 @ Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.

kjv@Matthew:13:49 @ So shall it be at the end of the world; the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

kjv@Matthew:13:50 @ And shall cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

kjv@Matthew:13:51 @ Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.

kjv@Matthew:13:52 @ Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

Note how many times we are told that disciples did not understand filter:NT-GOSPEL understood not

The "all paths lead to heaven" philosophy holds true only in that all paths are scooped up by His net. It ignores His judgment that follows and is the entire reason for the scooping up in the first place.

Key Messages:

    What does this say about our present condition?
  1. Men wish to see the similarity and equality of all souls caught in that net. It infuriates them the notion that some would be chosen over others. It is unconscionable to them that God would make any such judgment. Heaven to them is likely a continuation of everything they are currently.
  2. Men of different beliefs are likely to read any of these parables and come to similar conclusions. It is typically a mere attempt to amplify the understanding that they originally went into the reading with which likely cannot successfully be done. The meaning God would have given is either immediately snatched away or it withers under the assault of what others might think of it/how they might respond toward those that would contrarily believe it.
  3. What we say we understand about these parables is more likely the little bit that we are more comfortable to understand, the part that demands little from us on our part.
