( FaithOfJesus thread begun by rRandyP )

Today's Verse:

kjv@Matthew:16:13-20

kjv@Matthew:16:13 @ When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

kjv@Matthew:16:14 @ And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

kjv@Matthew:16:15 @ He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

kjv@Matthew:16:16 @ And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

kjv@Matthew:16:17 @ And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

kjv@Matthew:16:18 @ And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

kjv@Matthew:16:19 @ And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

kjv@Matthew:16:20 @ Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

Today's notes: He Charged Tell No Man

Context:

What is man believing/doing?:

What is making man to believe/do as he is doing?:

Notes:

Paul claims that the wisdom of God is foolishness to the wise. That God is doing as He is doing and that His kingdom must be established in the manner that He is establishing it is unfathomable and silly. That is because of the condition that man is presently under, his narrow or blind view, his self centered-ness, his self exaltation, his self justification, his being born under Adams' curse, his image of God in relation to self. Wisdom for the believer is then in a person, not a means nor method.

Key Messages:

What does this say about our present condition?
  1. Man cannot get from here to there on his own, not physically, not intellectually, not spiritually. He has certainly tried in every conceivable direction. He is certainly convinced that he can despite every evidence contrary. Many would take from this that God cannot be known by man and in this sense they are right, not unless God Himself makes these things to be know. He will only make them known on His terms, those brought to the conviction of not corrupting the knowledge already shown.
