The FaithOfJesus2 Daily Devotional

Focus:

kjv@Revelation:14:12 @ Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

( FaithOfJesus thread begun by rRandyP )

Today's Verse:

kjv@Matthew:25:1-13

kjv@Matthew:25:1 @ Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

kjv@Matthew:25:2 @ And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

kjv@Matthew:25:3 @ They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

kjv@Matthew:25:4 @ But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

kjv@Matthew:25:5 @ While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

kjv@Matthew:25:6 @ And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

kjv@Matthew:25:7 @ Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

kjv@Matthew:25:8 @ And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

kjv@Matthew:25:9 @ But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

kjv@Matthew:25:10 @ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

kjv@Matthew:25:11 @ Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

kjv@Matthew:25:12 @ But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

kjv@Matthew:25:13 @ Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Today's notes:

Context:

What is man believing/doing?:

What is making man to believe/do as he is doing?:

Notes:

Lamp is often symbolic of the word of God (kjv@Psalms:119:105 kjv@Proverbs:6:23), oil as a anointing (filter:OT oil+AND+anoint ). If both arrive with the word, also an initial measure of the anointing, the initial measure may not last the duration of the delay. The half have received or are receiving an additional measure not apparent to the others. Note that there is no alarm in either as they slept until the call was sent out. As Jesus is the Word and the boundless anointing it appears that the others held to the word symbolically and had no idea where to come up with what they felt that they lacked when the time finally came. The focus for them has become their lack not the arrival.

Many see faith as the primary element and the duration as the point being made. There is also mention of seven lamps (kjv@Revelation:4:5) in the end times which are seven Spirits (Churches) of God. There is mention of the children of Israel being responsible to keep the lamp in the temple burning with oil (kjv@Exodus:27:20 kjv@Leviticus:24:2).

The interesting thing is that if the wise were to share part of theirs (what ever it is) neither wise nor fool would have enough. This leads me to believe that the message point is closer to the topic of righteousness. If either group was to rely on their own either would be fools. If one were to rely on the others then they would really be foolish. If the other was to offer theirs to those without then they would no longer be relying on the Lord's themselves and be offering only false hope. It is either the Lord's righteousness of no righteousness at all.

Key Messages:

What does this say about our present condition?
  1. The reality of our spiritual condition for some may not fully appear until truly pressed. We can both be in the same place for the same amount of time expecting the same thing with the same essentials, but where (who) do those essentials come from? From the others? From somebody somewhere else? Notice that it wasn't the delay that alerted them, it was the honored's arrival.
  2. There is a very large flank of the universal Church currently that holds to a doctrine of patronized saints whose extra good works can be drawn from by those who lack enough on their own to make up any personal deficit upon heavenly entry. Individuals elsewhere throughout the body also hold to the belief that their entry is at least in part a result of a spouse's or parent's or loved one's belief and or goodness. The numbers could well approach five out of ten and if so say much about the state of the Church.
