Today's Verse:
kjv@Matthew:25:31-46
kjv@Matthew:25:31 @ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
kjv@Matthew:25:32 @ And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
kjv@Matthew:25:33 @ And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
kjv@Matthew:25:34 @ Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;
kjv@Matthew:25:35 @ For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in;
kjv@Matthew:25:36 @ Naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
kjv@Matthew:25:37 @ Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
kjv@Matthew:25:38 @ When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
kjv@Matthew:25:39 @ Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
kjv@Matthew:25:40 @ And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
kjv@Matthew:25:41 @ Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels;
kjv@Matthew:25:42 @ For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
kjv@Matthew:25:43 @ I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
kjv@Matthew:25:44 @ Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
kjv@Matthew:25:45 @ Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
kjv@Matthew:25:46 @ And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
Today's notes:
Context:
- Before - everyone that hath, more given
- After - lest there be an uproar
What is man believing/doing?:
- doing or not doing unto the least of these
What is making man to believe/do as he is doing?:
- Why would the cursed believe/do as they are doing against the "my brethren"?
They do not see the commission as having to do with the poverty. The poverty is seen as a form of punishment or reward for wrong doing. All poverty is the same to them. Their intentional/unintentional oppression of same is the cause for this amongst the "my brethren". Their charity/ministry serves their own non christian interests. They are more likely detached from the street level services having bureaucracies attached to perform the mechanics of charity for them.
- Why would the righteous believe/do as they are doing?
The "my brethren" are their brethren too. There is the understanding that the commission (as modeled by Christ and Apostles on earth) very well can lead to times such as this. They were there amongst the common and took the time/interest in finding more out. They did not know but served indiscriminately in the blind hope of. The commissioned are more likely to be coming to them as seeking which household is worthy.
Notes:
Further context elsewhere suggests that the gospel is to be preached in all nations, the gospel must be published to all nations beforehand, as a witness against the nations, that His brethren are those that do the will of His Father, that they will be hated of all nations for His name sake. Now all nations are being gathered before the throne to be judged. Entrance into everlasting life is not based upon works of any type, but faith on Jesus. Works however do witness to the type of Jesus one does or does not believe in. The question becomes are we still talking about nations or individuals from each nation?
Is Jesus equating these opportunities to anyone athirst, hungry or imprisoned; misfit, malfeasant, slacker, or guilty? Or is He specifically talking about his saints who in their obedience to His commission going out to the nations have foregone their needs or rights in order to serve the gospel? Is He talking about those who have believe their word and suffered the oppressive hatred of the nations because of it?
Hell fire is not initially prepared for men, but for Satan and his angels. However, if the men of nations with knowledge consent to do Satan's work against the righteous they will be judged as Satan himself.
The preparation of one reward, life everlasting, can at the same time be the preparation of the other everlasting punnishment. What preparation does there need to be of eternal fire other than it is not what has been prepared in life eternal? The preparation of the one can be the absence of preparation made to the other.
Key Messages:
What does this say about our present condition?
- The treatment of the Lord's commissioned could very well be a distinctive dividing point between sheep and goats, as even the goats have their forms of missions to the common and destitute.
- Context previous "investment of what Lord has given according to ability". The righteous of certain nations have funded the missionary functions of the commissioned to the others, they also must look into the funding of the relief efforts to the now hated of these nations who have become brethren in Christ.
