Focus:

kjv@Revelation:14:12 @ Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

( FaithOfJesus thread begun by rRandyP )

Today's Verse:

kjv@Matthew:5:27-30

kjv@Matthew:5:27 @ Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

kjv@Matthew:5:28 @ But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

kjv@Matthew:5:29 @ And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

kjv@Matthew:5:30 @ And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

Today's notes: Offending Members

Context:

What is man believing/doing?:

What is making man to believe/do as he is doing?:

Notes:

Peter speaks of a corruption that is in this world because of lust kjv@2Peter:1:4. It is a corruption that only His exceeding promise and providence through the knowledge of Him who called us to glory and virtue can deliver kjv@2Peter:1:1-4, afforded to us through the righteous act between Father and Son that we have obtained faith in.

Paul speaks of the body having members gravitating to differing functions. Each having to sacrifice themselves daily in to service being transformed by the renewing of their mind kjv@Romans:12. Conformity to anything other than what both Apostles relate is conformity to this world and therefore trouble to the church body.

For the rest the Law is against adultery, for the believing body exceeding extends even to the lust.

Key Messages:

What does this say about our present condition?
  1. the church body simply isn't important enough to many members as to out weigh the carnal impulse and potential damage; nor is Christ. Other passages suggest the likelihood of being offended in Christ rather than the sin that is occurring.
  2. Without His work upon us this too would be impossible by man's resource. It is meant, as is all of these sermon passages, to define the church as being His work, a work shown to be like no other worthy of others' attention and praise.
  3. His work is in writing these things eternally upon our fleshly hearts, both upon the initial desire and upon the detachment of offending members.
