Today's Verse:
kjv@Matthew:7:15-23
kjv@Matthew:7:15 @ Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
kjv@Matthew:7:16 @ Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
kjv@Matthew:7:17 @ Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
kjv@Matthew:7:18 @ A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
kjv@Matthew:7:19 @ Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
kjv@Matthew:7:20 @ Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
kjv@Matthew:7:21 @ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
kjv@Matthew:7:22 @ Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
kjv@Matthew:7:23 @ And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you; depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Today's notes: But He That Doeth The Will
Context:
- Before - entering at the strait gate
- After - hear and do
What is man believing/doing?:
- (implied) not being cautious of false prophets coming unto them
- Not finding out until it is too late that they've been working iniquity in the name of the Lord instead
What is making man to believe/do as he is doing?:
- the appearance that they are harmless
- not judging them by their fruits, not protecting self/others from, not exposing their fruitlessness to others
- the idea that doing wonders in the name of the Lord at times supersedes the doing of His will all the time, much of which includes the body as a whole bearing much fruit.
Notes:
index:torrey prophets, false
Thorns and thistles do not/cannot bare fruit only more of themselves. They are extremely common and very easily spred even if unintentional. They take over a productive field and render it useless. They are part of the original curse kjv@Genesis:3:18, choke off the word kjv@Matthew:13:7, spoken of those once enlightened kjv@Hebrews:6:8, as a crown inflicted pain and insult to our Lord kjv@Matthew:27:29
Paul was followed by false prophets who would seek to take over His church plants as soon as he left. They could produce no fruit of their own so they would graft themselves into his, slowly turning his church members against him.
Key Messages:
What does this say about our present condition?
- false sheep appear harmless to the majority, those that warn against and expose them as they are appear as trouble makers/judgmental
- many a well intended people intend for/pursue the flash and wonder, but will have little to do with the daily grunt work of going about His will, much of which intensely sets us apart from the others
