Best Examples of:

kjv@Acts:18:1-3 @ After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth; And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome;) and came unto them. And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

kjv@Acts:16:13-14 @ And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither. And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.

dict:easton Lydia (2.) A woman of Thyatira, a "seller of purple," who dwelt in Philippi kjv@Acts:16:14-15). She was not a Jewess but a proselyte. The Lord opened her heart as she heard the gospel from the lips of Paul (16:13). She thus became the first in Europe who embraced Christianity. She was a person apparently of considerable wealth, for she could afford to give a home to Paul and his companions. (See THYATIRA.)

"Tentmakers are not simply those interested in doing a little ministry or sharing the gospel from time to time. No, these workers are passionate about seeing Jesus worshiped by all peoples! They love being missionaries, wake up excited to take the Good News out and feel called by God to give their lives to his Kingdom through mission work. They just happen to also work a second job". -http://internationalproject.org/tentmaking/

Paul's Team (our/we)?

kjv@Acts:20:33-34 @ I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel. Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.

kjv@1Thessalonians:2:9 @ For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

kjv@1Corinthians:4:12 @ And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:

"This view is too narrow, because it doesn’t see that the tent making itself is a real ministry of witnessing to Christ. Paul is a witness when he preaches and when he makes tents and uses his earnings to benefit the broader community"..... "In other words, it is not the case that Paul engages in tent making as a necessity so that he can do his “real job” of preaching. Instead, Paul’s varieties of work in the sewing shop, marketplace, synagogue, lecture hall, and prison are all forms of witness. In any of these contexts, Paul participates in God’s restorative project". -http://www.theologyofwork.org/new-testament/acts/a-clash-of-kingdoms-community-and-powerbrokers-acts-13-19/tent-making-and-christian-life-acts-181-4

Married?

kjv@1Corinthians:7:32-33 @ But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord: But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.

kjv@2Timothy:2:4 @ No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

(Aquila and Priscilla still had effective ministries kjv@Acts:18:18 kjv@Acts:18:26 kjv@1Corinthians:16:19 kjv@2Timothy:4:19)

Workers:

kjv@Colossians:3:22-24 @ Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eye service, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

Employers

kjv@Ephesians:6:9 @ And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

kjv@Colossians:4:1 @ Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.

Work Ethic

kjv@Philippians:2:14-16 @ Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

kjv@Titus:2:7-8 @ In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

kjv@Ephesians:4:28 @ Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

Callings:

kjv@1Corinthians:7:17 @ But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.

kjv@1Corinthians:7:20-24 @ Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called. Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather. For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant. Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men. Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.
