emtv@Info @ DESCRIPTION: Welcome to the third edition of The English Majority Text Version (EMTV) of the Holy Bible. This latest edition has Greek explanatory notes throughout the Bible, to aid the reader in understanding the meanings in some select places of the original Koine Greek. Also, the third edition finds itself closer to the Robinson/Pierpoint printed edition of the Byzantine majority text, rather than the Hodges/Farstad text, which the EMTV was translated from. You will notice these differences in John strkjv@7:53-8:11, as well as the entire book of Revelation. The English Majority Text Version draws from the work of both Dr.’s Hodges and Farstad, and their text, “The Greek New Testament According to the Majority Text,” as well as from Dr. Wilbur Pickering, ThM. PhD., and the EMTV has incorporated his hard work in the field of producing evidence of just what does constitute a majority reading, and, as a result of his work, and the work of others, John strkjv@7:53-8:11, and the book of Revelation reflect these variant readings. This is one of the great things about having a Bible that is translated from the majority of the trustworthy Byzantine manuscripts that are in existence—the much greater probability of accuracy. On the other side of the fence, most modern Bibles are translated from a few scant manuscripts (literally), and more often than not they do not even agree with each other. Not so with a Bible that is translated out of the majority! The experts in linguistics who have put these readings together, and diligently compared the manuscripts, had hundreds and hundreds of manuscripts to compare. It is my prayer that this work will bring honor to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and to our God and Father; because all of this, all that we do, we do to know Him better, and to better understand His word, which He has given to mankind. “Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar. (Prove strkjv@30:5,6). Peace of Christ to you all. In His service, Paul W Esposito Stauros Ministries

emtv@Matthew:10:6 @ But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

emtv@Matthew:10:28 @ And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both the soul and the body in hell.

emtv@Matthew:25:9 @ "But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for you and us; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'

emtv@Matthew:27:24 @ And Pilate, seeing that nothing was being gained, but rather a riot was starting, taking water, he washed his hands clean in front of the crowd, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this just [Man]. You see to it."

emtv@Mark:5:26 @ and who had suffered many things under many physicians, and who had spent everything at her disposal, and was no better, but rather having become worse,

emtv@Mark:15:11 @ But the chief priests stirred up the crowd, so that he should rather release Barabbas to them.

emtv@Luke:12:28 @ But if God so clothes the grass, although it is in the field today, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, by how much rather [will He clothe] you, O you of little faith?

emtv@Luke:12:51 @ Do you think that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division.

emtv@Luke:18:14 @ I say to you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted."

emtv@Acts:4:19 @ But Peter and John answered them and said, "Whether it is right before God to hear you rather than God, you judge.

emtv@Acts:5:29 @ But Peter and the apostles answered, and said: "We must obey God rather than men.

emtv@Acts:27:11 @ But the centurion was persuaded by the helmsman and the ship owner, rather than by the things being said by Paul.

emtv@Romans:1:25 @ who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

emtv@Romans:8:34 @ Who is he that condemns? Christ is the [One] having died, but rather also having been raised, who is even at [the] right [hand] of God, who also intercedes on our behalf.

emtv@Romans:9:32 @ Why? Because [they did] not [seek it] by faith, but rather by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stone of stumbling.

emtv@Romans:12:16 @ Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but [rather ]associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.

emtv@Romans:14:13 @ Therefore let us no longer judge one another, but judge this rather, not to put a stumbling block or an offense before our brother.

emtv@1Corinthians:5:2 @ And you have become arrogant, and have not rather grieved, so that he who did this deed would be removed from your midst.

emtv@1Corinthians:6:7 @ Actually then, it is already a defeat for you that you have lawsuits against one another. Why not rather accept wrong? Why not rather accept being defrauded?

emtv@1Corinthians:7:21 @ Were you called as a slave? Do not be concerned about it; but if you can be made free, rather make use of [it].

emtv@1Corinthians:8:7 @ However, this knowledge is not in all [people]; rather some, with consciousness of the idol, until now eat it as [something] offered to idols; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.

emtv@1Corinthians:9:15 @ But I used none of these things, nor have I written these things that it should become thus for me; for it is better for me rather to die than that anyone should make my boasting void.

emtv@1Corinthians:14:19 @ but in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, in order that I may instruct others, rather than ten thousand words in an [unknown] tongue.

emtv@1Corinthians:14:20 @ Brothers, do not be children in your understanding; rather, in malice be children, but in understanding be men.

emtv@2Corinthians:2:7 @ so that, on the contrary, you ought rather to forgive and comfort him, lest somehow such a person be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.

emtv@2Corinthians:5:8 @ but we are confident and prefer rather to be away from home from the body, and to be at home with the Lord.

emtv@2Corinthians:12:9 @ And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness."Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

emtv@Galatians:4:9 @ But now, having known God, or rather, having been known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which once again you wish to be slaves?

emtv@Ephesians:4:28 @ Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working that which is good with his hands, in order that he may have something to share with him who has need.

emtv@Ephesians:5:4 @ neither wickedness, nor foolish talk or coarse jesting, which are not proper, but rather thanksgiving.

emtv@Ephesians:5:11 @ And have no partnership with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose [them].

emtv@1Timothy:1:4 @ nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith.

emtv@1Timothy:4:12 @ Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but [rather ]become a pattern for the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

emtv@1Timothy:5:1 @ Do not sharply rebuke an older man, but [rather ]exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers,

emtv@1Timothy:6:2 @ And those having believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brothers, but rather let them serve as slaves, because those receiving the good service are believing and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.

emtv@2Timothy:3:4 @ traitors, headstrong, having been puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

emtv@Philemon:1:9 @ rather on account of love I appeal to you-being such a one as Paul, the elder, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ-

emtv@Hebrews:11:25 @ choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to have the temporary pleasure of sin,

emtv@Hebrews:12:13 @ and make straight paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be turned aside, but rather be healed.

emtv@1Peter:3:4 @ rather [let it be] the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible [attitude] of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious before God.

emtv@1Peter:5:2 @ shepherd the flock of God among you, overseeing not by compulsion, but rather willingly, not in fondness for dishonest gain, but rather eagerly;

emtv@1Peter:5:3 @ nor as being masters over the flock [under you,] but rather being examples to the flock.

emtv@2Peter:1:16 @ For we did not follow craftily devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but rather became eyewitnesses of His majesty.

emtv@2Peter:2:4 @ For if God did not spare the angels when they sinned, but rather confined [them] to Tartarus, and delivered [them ]into chains of darkness, reserved for judgment;

emtv@Jude:1:6 @ And the angels who did not keep their own domain, but rather having left their own habitation, He has kept with everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day;
