And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife (note:)That is, one that has been a harlot for a long time: not that the Prophet did this thing in effect, but he saw this in a vision, or else was commanded by God to set forth under this parable or figure the idolatry of the Synagogue, and of the people her children.(:note) of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, [departing] from the LORD.
