Can One Lose Their Salvation?

One's salvation is a most serious and weighty topic with the eternal placement of souls in the very balance. The question whether one can lose their salvation should never taken lightly in either direction. There is substantial scriptural evidence to argue either position, leading me to believe that one counseling an other person must make serious consideration of what it means to be saved in Jesus so as to determine authoritatively as to if "so great salvation" could in fact be lost.

Conclusions

I for one believe in the consistency of scriptural doctrine. That consistency is not always readily available unless searched for and dug out. It may not be the answer that you are immediately looking for right now, but the best advice is to systematically search this answer out yourself. Systematically means to compare it up against the other doctrines that are much better supported such as grace redemption sanctification Holy Spirit reconciliation sovereignty election etc.. as a larger whole. Any doctrine that doesn't meld with the others is a doctrine that still needs further investigation and restraint.

One thing is for sure, even if one's salvation in fact can never be lost, how we live having now received Christ must be circumspect and fruitful in the gracious spirit to which it has been placed upon us. Salvation cannot mean consenting license to sin. Confession and repentance of any/all sin must still rule the day.
