That question presumes that prayer is a means of asking for something (addressing concerns). What if instead we presumed that prayer was the means of acknowledging something? What would Jesus have to acknowledge? How about a day's worth of miracles? A day's worth of meeting others most urgent needs? How about the friendship of twelve loyal and devoted men and the many other men and women believing in you and your cause? How about the eternal plan and the merciful righteousness contained therein? How about....? What if added to that prayer meant to receive from the Father daily instruction? What if added to that prayer meant to be revived and reinvigorated from the Father for the next day? Would a nighttime then ever be enough? Prayer is a much a condition of the heart as it is anything said, acknowledged or petitioned for or against. It is the desire to be there, to be close, to be engaged, to be humble and contrite, to be real, to be of service. In essence it is to be in the present reverent. Twelve men of which eleven will emerge in the end Apostles. It should be noted that not one of them came into this apostleship ahead of the any other, none came to this separate times to the next; it came upon them as a whole for it came upon them from the risen Christ. In fact, it came upon them at a time that they were most desperate and broken. That it happened to these eleven that it be firmly established is most illustrative of our Lord's intents and processes. It is the establishment of these men and the testimony that they give of this His gospel that adds so much certainty to what we still to this day believe.
