Today's Verse:

kjv@Luke:17:20-37

kjv@Luke:17:20 @ And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

kjv@Luke:17:21 @ Neither shall they say, Lo here or, lo there for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

kjv@Luke:17:22 @ And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.

kjv@Luke:17:23 @ And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them.

kjv@Luke:17:24 @ For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.

kjv@Luke:17:25 @ But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.

kjv@Luke:17:26 @ And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

kjv@Luke:17:27 @ They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

kjv@Luke:17:28 @ Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

kjv@Luke:17:29 @ But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

kjv@Luke:17:30 @ Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

kjv@Luke:17:31 @ In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

kjv@Luke:17:32 @ Remember Lot's wife.

kjv@Luke:17:33 @ Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

kjv@Luke:17:34 @ I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.

kjv@Luke:17:35 @ Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

kjv@Luke:17:36 @ Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

kjv@Luke:17:37 @ And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

Notes:

I was amazed looking back how many times the phrase "kingdom of God" had been used in the New Testament. Here we are some two and a half years likely into the earthly ministry and still many if not all are confused as to how it is being used and how/when it will be seen.

It should go without saying that the kingdom follows where ever the king goes. If the king is on earth then it can be rightly said to us that the kingdom of God is at hand. If the king leaves earth to His throne in heaven then the kingdom is not here, the kingdom is in heaven. The next time we will see the kingdom of God on earth is a sudden and inescapable world judgement. The after judgment by His being here can rightly be thought of as the kingdom and therefore can be entered into or kept from. The kingdom can also be within because the king of the kingdom now resides also in our hearts, the seed of which can be planted. We can now seek that king, like a child we can receive that king, we can serve that king, we can be a ambassador/delegate of that king to this foreign world.

This kingdom is a direct contrast to a world view minus a king made by our own good works and predicated upon our own corporate sense of right and wrong. It is a system known to be corrupt, known to be unjust and oppressive, known to be everything Jesus reveals it to be. Yet it is this world view in doing it's own right/good that puts Jesus to suffering and venomous rejection. The Pharisees themselves are proof to us of just how wrong doing what they feel to be right can be.

The eagle is often used as a prophetic symbol of judgment swift and fierce and unforeseen swooping down from the sky. It has been said that Jesus did not preach judgment. I rather say that HE preached the kingdom of God which for us to get into is all about judgment. It is shameful how far we as believers have gotten today from the message of the kingdom that we are commanded to deliver.

In one sense the time of His coming, the day of His judgment, can be observed as like the weather and the seasons, but in another sense the time cannot be observed, not in the terms that we would be looking for it (read geo-political/geo-economic/geo-religious etc..). It would probably appear to us in the opposite by these self assessed observations. It will come as a surprise to most. We are shown a swift global perspective where people that are in bed, people that are in the day field and people that are mill grinding are raptured in the blink of an eye.
