Today's Verse:

kjv@Luke:18:31-34

kjv@Luke:18:31 @ Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

kjv@Luke:18:32 @ For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:

kjv@Luke:18:33 @ And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.

kjv@Luke:18:34 @ And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.

Notes:

The typical accusation is that the disciples of Jesus staged His resurrection. The overwhelming inference of scripture is that the need or prospect of it wasn't even considerable to them. Even if they did have a sense of need or had an inkling of being requested by Him to find a way of pulling this off for Him, the impossibilities as presented are enormous. How would they be able to do this if Jesus was going to give Himself into the hands of the Gentiles and Elders? There would be too many things out of their hands to keep control over (ex. not breaking a bone or gambling over clothes). It would be easier to say that either the Roman potentates or the Elders staged it. And why would they do that?

Consider the all inclusive number of details advanced by the prophecies themselves. Unless the details had been written after the fact this level of accuracy would be most difficult to stage or replicate. The logic more likely follows that these events are in no one's hand; either it was merely by mathematical chance that all these many things aligned or else the hand of God. Consider the other side of this logical problem as well, what are the possibilities that we couldn't in some determinable way disprove that it didn't happen as presented? Surely if staged by anybody, there would be a loose string or seam somewhere in the weave of all these details.

The necessity of Christ doing for helpless mankind this is really the deepest revelation of all. This is really what we are hiding ourselves from. As bad as things might be we contend, it surely isn't as bad as needing this to resolve it all. Accept that premise and the collective whole of prophecy will come into understanding. Reject the premise and you're left having to explain the many detailed impossibilities that appear to to have been fulfilled in one extreme historical figure all in one shot.

Key Messages:

Declaring Certainty

kjv@1Corinthians:15:3 @ For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

kjv@1Corinthians:15:4 @ And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
