Notes:
If David's use of Adon is a lord/owner on common terms, name for me who then David's human master was and how it was that this man was elevated to such an ethereal level. It is obvious that David is speaking of his sovereign eternal Lord placed by Jehovah at Jehovah's right side.
It is amazing that this additional unprompted declaration attaches to the immediate conversation of resurrection and of not knowing scriptures nor the power of God plus in Matthew and Mark the conversation of the greatest commandment Love. It is one thing to know that the dead are raised and even better to know to love wholly in this life and the next. Such revelation has little meaning and profoundity though if not framed in the knowledge that this saving Lamb is God in the flesh dying on the cross because of and for the release of man in all sin. Love with all and an entire resurrected life to do it take on a whole new meaning not in force any other way.
Jesus is saying this knowing that it is going to cause the outright rejection of Him by His enemies in all their sorted factions; no more questions need be asked. To make this claim and then to portray the scribes in such discouraging light is to cross the line once and for all. Jesus says it anyway.
Somehow though we need to get to the understanding that these many enemies do not hold the power of death over Him, His life and therefore death are only in the hands of the Father. Rejecting and having the power to lay hold of Him are two different things; executing His death even more. Left to their own resource, had not the occasion been given them by the betrayal of Judas, Jesus may have lived on earth for ions untouchable; they had tried at Him many times before.
