kjv@Revelation:14:12 @ Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

( FaithOfJesus thread begun by rRandyP )

Today's Verse:

kjv@Luke:6:27-36

kjv@Luke:6:27 @ But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

kjv@Luke:6:28 @ Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

kjv@Luke:6:29 @ And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.

kjv@Luke:6:30 @ Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

kjv@Luke:6:31 @ And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

kjv@Luke:6:32 @ For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

kjv@Luke:6:33 @ And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

kjv@Luke:6:34 @ And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

kjv@Luke:6:35 @ But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

kjv@Luke:6:36 @ Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

Notes:

The command is not "have not any enemy" for simply by us being in Christ, Christ does have His many enemies. The command best stated is to "be merciful as your Father is merciful". It well could be thought that to not have enemies is to not have Christ. That is not to say that we don't make enemies of our own; it is there possible that our enemies are in the right. It is rather to say that if we are abiding in Christ, stepping out on His faith in proclamation of His gospel, His enemies will be all the more aggressive towards us as they are toward Him. We are representatives of Him and therefore open targets.

In our consideration of declaring certainty it certainly must be considered that we will be met much more aggressively by these enemies. Certainty is not just to be declared by intellectual logic, but also by seemingly illogical convictions committed to the greater good of even those who would rather make us to suffer over it. The logic of it is actually that we at one time were enemies of God like them yet God held Himself to a much higher standard of mercy and love in our case suffering our assaults for as long as it took. We certainly have benefited because of that long suffering, therefore gladly adopt and participate in the same towards them.

Key Messages:

Declaring Certainty

kjv@Ephesians:5:2 @ And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

kjv@Luke:23:34 @ Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

kjv@Romans:5:10 @ For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

kjv@1Corinthians:13:4 @ Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

kjv@1Corinthians:13:5 @ Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

kjv@1Corinthians:13:6 @ Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

kjv@1Corinthians:13:7 @ Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
