Is the probability one of 850 prophets being a prophet of God? Are they ten of eleven brothers selling the twelfth into slavery? Are they 500 of 31,000 soldiers being right according to God to go into battle? Are they ten of twelve tribes going their own way against God? Are they two of possibly millions living to step in to take possession the promised land? Are they that even the greatest prophet born of woman would be challenged by his faith in a Messiah witnessed personally to be divinely confirmed and declared? Do any of these probabilities make any sense to you? If so, what does that say about us as humans? Today, we are shown a Samaritan. He is not even one of us, in fact he is most despised; he is a dog in our eyes. Worse yet he is a leper. This Samaritan steps out by invitation into the realm of God's mercy however and he is the only one of nine others that turns back to loudly glorify God. Was it ten men's faith that healed them? No it was God's mercy that healed all ten. What then can be said about the one man's faith? It completed what God in full had already done; the circuit became complete. What was his faith? To turn back and give God HIS glory due. What are the odds that our faith would be of the same? How many of this faith would be found of Christ returning? What is it that you have asked for and mercifully received? Did you turn back? What is it that you and others have had lifted away from you? Did you proceed from there in lock step? Did you show yourself to the priest as commanded, but just left the matter off right there? Now that your shame has left you is there a much greater shame chained to the door? What would you say are the odds? We all would want Jesus to do something for us. We are bold to ask. Bold to return to a life as we think it should be. Maybe it is a life as it once was before all of this. Maybe it is a life as it never yet has been. God is gracious and for that we seem thankful. Has the last remaining connection in the circuit of transformative power been connected back into the loop however? Has it? Declaring Certainty Further Resources: Comment Board:Luke:17:11-19
