Today's Verse:

kjv@Luke:19:1-10

kjv@Luke:19:1 @ And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.

kjv@Luke:19:2 @ And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.

kjv@Luke:19:3 @ And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.

kjv@Luke:19:4 @ And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.

kjv@Luke:19:5 @ And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.

kjv@Luke:19:6 @ And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.

kjv@Luke:19:7 @ And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.

kjv@Luke:19:8 @ And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

kjv@Luke:19:9 @ And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

kjv@Luke:19:10 @ For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Notes:

Okay! So the Lord of the universe through whom all things were created and all things again are being gathered, whom will shortly sit at the right hand throne of God the Father while HE makes His enemies His footstool decides to come into your humble abode. Well you did want to know who Jesus is did you not? A pretty incredible moment no doubt. So what would you be thinking on the way to the door as the neighbors are all murmuring "but he is a publican"? How would you defend yourself?

Jesus doesn't say that the man is saved, not because of the good he has done. He doesn't actually say that the man is actually saved yet. He said that salvation is come to his house; salvation is there in the flesh standing at the door. Perhaps Jesus hears the voices outside too and allows the man to speak his heart. Among those despised there is occasionally a tremendous story being overlooked. This man is one of those despised and this is his tremendous story. Jesus allowed that story to be drawn out of him for our benefit.

What we must ask ourselves is if a good story, a good heart hidden in a man largely despised grounds for salvation? Is being a son of Abraham grounds for salvation? Is climbing a tree to get a look at the messiah grounds for salvation? Think it through clearly! Are all sons of Abraham saved? What then about the many that will in no wise enter the kingdom? What about the ones for whom it would be better to have a millstone around their neck? Are all that do great works in the name of Jesus Christ saved? What then about the one's to whom Jesus say's "leave now... I never knew you"? What does that say about those of us who are neither sons of Abraham nor doers of great works? What does that say about the majority of us outside the door murmuring that this man has no business being there with this messiah? In the same sense does being a rich man preclude you from being saved? Does being the chief of the publicans preclude you from being saved? Is there anything to preclude you from salvation except your belief in Jesus Christ Son of God/Redeemer of man?

This man very well could be saved right now or soon to follow. It seems to happen a lot to those few who actually seek out to see who He is. Salvation today comes to abide at you house. Will you abide there with Salvation?
