Today's Verse:

kjv@Luke:19:28-44

kjv@Luke:19:28 @ And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.

kjv@Luke:19:29 @ And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

kjv@Luke:19:30 @ Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither.

kjv@Luke:19:31 @ And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him.

kjv@Luke:19:32 @ And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them.

kjv@Luke:19:33 @ And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt?

kjv@Luke:19:34 @ And they said, The Lord hath need of him.

kjv@Luke:19:35 @ And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.

kjv@Luke:19:36 @ And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.

kjv@Luke:19:37 @ And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;

kjv@Luke:19:38 @ Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

kjv@Luke:19:39 @ And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.

kjv@Luke:19:40 @ And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

kjv@Luke:19:41 @ And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,

kjv@Luke:19:42 @ Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

kjv@Luke:19:43 @ For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,

kjv@Luke:19:44 @ And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

"If thou hadst known"..."the things which belong unto thy peace". Why don't they know? If it is hid who or what is hiding it from them?

tsk@Luke:19:42 today has an interesting set of links to other scripture old and new in several regards. There is the thread of their hearts, one that turns and is made new, one that hardens and is turned fat. There is a thread of fear, the truer fear of God verses the fear taught by the precepts of man. The thread of wisdom, one that considers it's later end, one that is brought to a sudden end, one that is understood by the heart and one that sees but does not perceive failing to call when He is near. Then there is the eerie thread of who/what else might be behind this, a slumbering spirit the LORD pours out, a veil placed over, a blinding god of this world, a strong delusion sent. Needless to say it effects all as He says this looking out upon the holy city, even those rushing ahead to cheer and praise Him likely. It will remain even after the city itself has been leveled to the ground and millenniums latter.

It is said to know Christ is to know all these things. It could then be said that the reason they do not know these things is because they know not Christ. At this stage we can surmise that they know not Christ because the Father/Spirit is still in the process of making the Son Christ known by sending Him through to the cross, have Him to die for our sin and resurrecting Him to the right hand of HIS own throne. How else are we to know Him as He actually is? This is the day/week of visitation and some/many are already sensing something big, but what it is and what it all means is quite unknown.

The situation becomes much more profound after Jesus accomplishes this earthly Christ mission. Then what can be known of Christ is readily available to any and all willing to see to it. That is when judgment really has it's teeth as it did upon the temple destruction decades later. That is both the opportunity and the accountability we hold even today. The question for us is now that Christ can be known is He known? Have we sought to know Him fully unto His utter Lordship and our utter servitude?

Declaring Certainty
