Notes:

Twice we believe Jesus cleared the temple court, the second on the heels of this His triumphant entrance. Now some would say that His temper got the better of Him, that this might be His sin. What it says to me is just how quickly things go back to normal with man and what is being allowed by the chiefs on the Temple property that they might be making gain from. Anger is not a sin when it is godly and just. The reason that the Temple is even in disrepair is because of God's anger with far distant Israel. The nation itself is in the state that it is because it has long turned it's back on Jehovah despite the LORD warning them countless times that it would come to this if they were to continue. If the Father is righteously angered, and the Son is performing what He is told to do of the Father, is this then the Father's sin or is it Israel's?

Roman money, which is having to be used every where else in the city is being exchanged for temple money at the Temple where only it can be used. The exchange rate is being exorbitantly set for one thing and the sacrificial articles being purchased are being sold at discouragingly high profit and the occurrence is happening and fully sanctioned in a place within the Temple that it should not. It is scriptural law that the crowds of religious pilgrims make such sacrifices and that the money being transacted be used for the Temple. Everyone selling in the outer court is profiting and everyone buying is being taken. This in what is to be known by all nations as a house of prayer; Jehovah's house of prayer.

If to search honestly for certainty, shall we not say that God's righteous anger is of a certainty? Indeed we must. Many say that the God of the Old Testament is an angry God while the God of the New is much more loving. How much better it is to say that the love of the Father for Son Jesus and Son for Father is quite extraordinarily displayed and then as a result HIS love for those in Jesus is sure. Lest we confuse the point that God is the same in every respect past present and future, let us not forget that God is a God of HIS word, that HIS ways are not our way, that everything that HE promised old and new both lovingly and of wrath will come to pass. Ten minutes of casual but determined wrath in a den of thieves, this for now the second time, is the least demonstration Heaven's extreme displeasure with the daily acts and allowances of man.

By the way, the Temple has not stood for two thousand years since for them to again do this. New Testament anger of God would you say?
