Today's Verse:

kjv@Luke:2:41-52

kjv@Luke:2:41 @ Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.

kjv@Luke:2:42 @ And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

kjv@Luke:2:43 @ And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.

kjv@Luke:2:44 @ But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.

kjv@Luke:2:45 @ And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.

kjv@Luke:2:46 @ And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.

kjv@Luke:2:47 @ And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

kjv@Luke:2:48 @ And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

kjv@Luke:2:49 @ And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

kjv@Luke:2:50 @ And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.

kjv@Luke:2:51 @ And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

kjv@Luke:2:52 @ And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

Notes:

There is a curious connection of things that adults are becoming aware of with young Jesus, the honest inquiry and astonishing understanding, the determination to God's business, the increasing of subjection as He grew and the produce of favour. These things we should be attuned to as well as we advance toward the declaration of spiritual certainties.

  1. Debate is seldom as effective as sincere inquiry to showing understanding. It is not to show off one's understanding, but to open pathways of making God's known, to help others through the process that you yourself have been on.
  2. It is also wise to establish early and often the dedication you are willing to make to toward seeking God's business, encouraging others in that quest as well.
  3. Subjection to all authority (without sinning to do so) is a key indicator of spiritual stature and maturity.
  4. Favour with man is not the goal per se, it is the product of doing the things required to please God in the manner outlined above.

    1. Key Messages:

kjv@Romans:13:1 @ Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

kjv@Proverbs:3:3 @ Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

kjv@Proverbs:3:4 @ So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

kjv@Psalms:5:12 @ For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.
