Today's Verse:
kjv@Luke:8:16-18
kjv@Luke:8:16 @ No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.
kjv@Luke:8:17 @ For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.
kjv@Luke:8:18 @ Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

Notes:
Notice the progression, we have come from a word being sown with the aim of that word being multiplied and carried to other reaches, to a candle being lit where nothing is hid and a call to heed, onward to a brethren of doers of the word.
Luke mentions this teaching again kjv@Luke:11:33 in the context of an evil generation coming into judgment and the previously judged held in better judgment than they. Here the hearing is connected in context to keeping/doing kjv@Luke:8:11-15 and kjv@Luke:8:19-21. kjv@Mark:4:21-22 has it following the context of the Parable of the Sower as well. kjv@Matthew:5:15-16 places it at the Sermon on the mount.
In kjv@Revelation:1:20 and kjv@Revelation:2:1 candlesticks represent specific Churches. We had sumized in the Sower that the ground comprised of a community of believers gathering around and supporting the word. Later the symbolism is pruned down to two witnesses kjv@Revelation:11:3-4.
Key Messages:
Declaring Certainty
kjv@1Peter:2:9 @ But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
kjv@John:1:4 @ In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
kjv@1John:1:4 @ And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
kjv@2John:1:4 @ I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.
kjv@3John:1:4 @ I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
kjv@James:1:22 @ But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
kjv@James:1:23 @ For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
kjv@James:1:24 @ For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
kjv@James:1:25 @ But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
kjv@Ecclesiastes:12:14 @ For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
kjv@1Corinthians:4:5 @ Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.
kjv@2Corinthians:4:2 @ But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
