kjv@Luke:8:19 @ Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press.

kjv@Luke:8:20 @ And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.

kjv@Mark:6:3 @ Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

(see also Alphaeus)

filter:NONE word of God

Notes:

Brethren did not believe Him kjv@John:7:5 till time of resurrection and ascension (at least James and Jude). Debate among some whether brethren (adelphoi G80 ) means brother or brother like (cousin); at the very most they are half brothers and sisters. The brethren were called to join Him his final days kjv@Matthew:28:10 and again near to His ascension kjv@John:20:17.

kjv@Luke:11:27-28 mother is also connected to one who hears and does. This is not to suggest that Mary was not hearing and doing presently (or soon to) it is to place the importance on all mothers hearing and doing including her. It is also to place the reverence upon Jesus and not the mother of. Mary despite her natural role in the incarnation of God's Son was required to hear and do just as the rest of us. Nowhere in scripture is it suggested that Mary is the Mother God nor Intercessor for man, it does not specify directly that she remained a virgin nor that she was sinless or that her immense grief paid for our redemption. In fact it could be argued that she struggled with her Son's message just as much as His brethren did at least for a time or else was silent/ineffective in His defense among them.

There is a logistical oddity having one who has lived eternally without beginning or end framed in the verbiage of mother and brethren. In the framework others would know (and attempt to limit) Him in they would be right. In the framework that they need to know Him in they are not even close. He is son of Mary only in sense of the vehicle chosen to present His eternal self as a great atoning sacrifice sent of God in the human flesh. They are only mother and brethren in the grand scheme if to hear and do His word and thus become sons and daughters of the Almighty kjv@2Corinthians:6:18, which as of this time they likely were not.

Key Messages:

Declaring Certainty

kjv@Acts:4:11 @ This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

kjv@Acts:4:12 @ Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

kjv@Philippians:2:9 @ Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

kjv@2Corinthians:4:2 @ But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

kjv@Revelation:19:13 @ And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

kjv@Revelation:19:14 @ And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

kjv@Revelation:19:15 @ And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

kjv@Revelation:19:16 @ And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
