Key Concepts:
What is God's righteousness observed doing?:
- Communing early Son to Father in solitary.
- Father sending Son with purpose to preach.
- Son preaching in Jewish synagogues around Galilee and casting out devils.
What does this tell us about God's righteousness?:
- It is about deep interpersonal relationship with Father. It is sought after at every turn and bend, partaken of and relished, in respect to said relationship faithfully executed.
- It is about Son making message known and Father confirming message with power and authority.
- It is to the Jew first and also the Gentile.
How is man reacting?:
- Seeking Jesus not necessarily for similar communion themselves, but for Him to serve their needs and ambitions.
- In excitement to the previous eve and the sudden wave of success and popularity their inquiry is nearly accusatory of self indulgence and or retreat.
- Stating as fact a false statement regarding all mens desire especially in light of all men's duplicitous motivations.
Notes:
For this time on earth Jesus is not operating in His own divine strength, He is operating in what the Father gives to Him. It is my belief that to make His situation similar to ours the Father is giving that strength in similar measure to ours. Jesus is making full use of the strength that we would have were we ever to walk in it. It is in daily measure "give us this day our daily bread" requiring Him to keep coming back for it.
As such, this righteousness is not about coming here just to prove that it is vastly superior and much too lofty for man to operate in, instead it shows that it can be walked in if by humility and sincerity subject to God's will. It is not an attachment to boost man's, it replaces (cover's over intending to make anew) man's altogether.
Along with the all important reverence and communion, Jesus would likely be petitioning for the physical strength to continue this grueling human pace, the soundness of mind and emotion with clarity of thought and purpose, to be kept in utter humility and gratitude, the focused seeking of all righteousness as it applies to the day's tasks and resolve to do the will of the Father. He would be praying much the same for the others given Him to disciple and those that He would meet along the way. He would also be praying for Israel.
Key Messages:
What does this say about our present condition?
- The thought occurs, so a man (a beggar by trade) is made whole from deformity, now what? Does he not have to take on a real trade now? Leprosy or unclean spirit; does he not have to deal with the family/community around him that remains skeptical and distant? A young woman has her sight restored. Does she not have to relearn her way around the physical world again? A friend is raised from the dead. Does he not have to prepare for his death all over again? What I am saying that receiving a personal miracle does not mean that the struggle for you ceases, it means it changes form. It means God's daily measure for us is just as important if not more so. How many of these cases in the time following could fail possibly to make full advantage of the tremendous new opportunity graciously afforded them? Probably all of them to various degrees if not for our continued reliance and submission to the very grace and righteousness that performed the outstanding work on us to begin with. The prayer of Jesus just as it should be in His saints is not just for the miraculous, but for the fruitful and the multiplying and the everlasting. There is a whole lot of praying therefore to be done!
- " All people " are not seeking Jesus as emphatically stated by the search party here. Many of those that are seeking Him are not seeking him fully nor with pure intent. Even those who gave themselves fully to follow Him on this earth had difficulty with what it truly was to seek Him, that which He Himself had to patiently work them through. Perhaps this subject took up part of His time in prayer?
