The FaithOfJesus2 Daily Devotional

Focus:

kjv@Revelation:14:12 @ Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

( FaithOfJesus thread begun by rRandyP )

Today's Verse:

kjv@Matthew:22:23-33

kjv@Matthew:22:23 @ The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,

kjv@Matthew:22:24 @ Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

kjv@Matthew:22:25 @ Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:

kjv@Matthew:22:26 @ Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.

kjv@Matthew:22:27 @ And last of all the woman died also.

kjv@Matthew:22:28 @ Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.

kjv@Matthew:22:29 @ Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

kjv@Matthew:22:30 @ For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

kjv@Matthew:22:31 @ But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

kjv@Matthew:22:32 @ I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

kjv@Matthew:22:33 @ And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.

Today's notes: Attack of the Sadducee - Resurrection

Context:

What is man believing/doing?:

What is making man to believe/do as he is doing?:

Notes:

This doctrinal statement of Jesus is used along with the transfiguration and the beggar Lazarus and the thief on the third cross to support (within the gospels) the theory of the soul not just sleeping at death, but being immediately resurrected in fully conscious state. There is also supporting evidences in the Epistles, Revelation, Chronicles and Psalms as well. The logistics of the physical body's resurrection (other than Christ's) is less agreed upon, generally placed at the great judgment. (see dict:all resurrection )

Key Messages:

What does this say about our present condition?
  1. Political knockout rarely comes at the hands of one remarkably intelligent counter punch, it comes in the wearying flurry of smaller jabs. Not until an opponents defenses are momentarily dropped does the opportunity for the well connected deadly uppercut become effective; especially when you are expecting some hits upon yourself as well.
  2. Doctrine and theory can be used as tactical diversions in an argument. Right is right regardless, but it can be made to appear to others as inconsequential or sticky to their present needs/desires/understandings.
