Today's Verse:

kjv@Matthew:7:7-12

kjv@Matthew:7:7 @ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you;

kjv@Matthew:7:8 @ For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

kjv@Matthew:7:9 @ Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

kjv@Matthew:7:10 @ Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

kjv@Matthew:7:11 @ If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

kjv@Matthew:7:12 @ Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Key Messages:

    What does this say about our present condition?
  1. Man often invents an image of God that is unsustainable and asks of it to provide for all his needs. What are the chances of him receiving any of that?
  2. Many intend to go about finding their answers by their own means regardless, all that they are really asking is for God to bless their own way.
  3. Many see God strictly as a force that can be directed wherever they themselves see fit (they are the god, he is their empowerment)
  4. "Whatsoever ye ask" if it has no base in His righteousness, if it works against His word or the establishment of His work upon us individually and as a body, if it is to prolong a situation that one should not have been in to begin with, then "whatsoever" is a serpent. What child would ask of his father a serpent knowing the danger to everyone else in the house?
  5. Christian and non-Christian alike are willing to quote this passage with the same understanding/intent; which should alert us to the possibility that they both have the meaning wrong.
