nasb@Job:1:1 @There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil.

nasb@Job:1:3 @His possessions also were 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female donkeys, and very many servants; and that man was the greatest of all the men of the east.

nasb@Job:1:4 @His sons used to go and hold a feast in the house of each one on his day, and they would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.

nasb@Job:1:5 @When the days of feasting had completed their cycle, Job would send and consecrate them, rising up early in the morning and offering burnt offerings according to the number of them all; for Job said, " Perhaps my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." Thus Job did continually.

nasb@Job:1:6 @Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them.

nasb@Job:1:7 @The LORD said to Satan, "From where do you come?" Then Satan answered the LORD and said, " From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it."

nasb@Job:1:8 @The LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil."

nasb@Job:1:9 @Then Satan answered the LORD, "Does Job fear God for nothing?

nasb@Job:1:10" @ Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.

nasb@Job:1:11" @ But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will surely curse You to Your face."

nasb@Job:1:12 @Then the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power, only do not put forth your hand on him." So Satan departed from the presence of the LORD.

nasb@Job:1:13 @Now on the day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house,

nasb@Job:1:15 @and the Sabeans attacked and took them. They also slew the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you."

nasb@Job:1:18 @While he was still speaking, another also came and said, "Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house,

nasb@Job:1:19 @and behold, a great wind came from across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people and they died, and I alone have escaped to tell you."

nasb@Job:2:1 @Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the LORD.

nasb@Job:2:2 @The LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Then Satan answered the LORD and said, "From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it."

nasb@Job:2:3 @The LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil. And he still holds fast his integrity, although you incited Me against him to ruin him without cause."

nasb@Job:2:4 @Satan answered the LORD and said, "Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.

nasb@Job:2:6 @So the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, he is in your power, only spare his life."

nasb@Job:2:7 @Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.

nasb@Job:2:11 @Now when Job's three friends heard of all this adversity that had come upon him, they came each one from his own place, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite; and they made an appointment together to come to sympathize with him and comfort him.

nasb@Job:2:12 @When they lifted up their eyes at a distance and did not recognize him, they raised their voices and wept. And each of them tore his robe and they threw dust over their heads toward the sky.

nasb@Job:2:13 @Then they sat down on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights with no one speaking a word to him, for they saw that his pain was very great.

nasb@Job:3:4" @May that day be darkness; Let not God above care for it, Nor light shine on it.

nasb@Job:3:6" @As for that night, let darkness seize it; Let it not rejoice among the days of the year; Let it not come into the number of the months.

nasb@Job:3:7" @Behold, let that night be barren; Let no joyful shout enter it.

nasb@Job:3:8" @Let those curse it who curse the day, Who are prepared to rouse Leviathan.

nasb@Job:3:11" @ Why did I not die at birth, Come forth from the womb and expire?

nasb@Job:3:12" @Why did the knees receive me, And why the breasts, that I should suck?

nasb@Job:3:13" @For now I would have lain down and been quiet; I would have slept then, I would have been at rest,

nasb@Job:3:16" @Or like a miscarriage which is discarded, I would not be, As infants that never saw light.

nasb@Job:3:17" @There the wicked cease from raging, And there the weary are at rest.

nasb@Job:3:18" @The prisoners are at ease together; They do not hear the voice of the taskmaster.

nasb@Job:3:19" @The small and the great are there, And the slave is free from his master.

nasb@Job:3:21 @Who long for death, but there is none, And dig for it more than for hidden treasures,

nasb@Job:3:22 @Who rejoice greatly, And exult when they find the grave?

nasb@Job:3:24" @For my groaning comes at the sight of my food, And my cries pour out like water.

nasb@Job:3:25" @For what I fear comes upon me, And what I dread befalls me.

nasb@Job:3:26" @I am not at ease, nor am I quiet, And I am not at rest, but turmoil comes."

nasb@Job:3:2" @If one ventures a word with you, will you become impatient? But who can refrain from speaking?

nasb@Job:3:5" @But now it has come to you, and you are impatient; It touches you, and you are dismayed.

nasb@Job:3:8" @According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity And those who sow trouble harvest it.

nasb@Job:3:9" @By the breath of God they perish, And by the blast of His anger they come to an end.

nasb@Job:3:11" @The lion perishes for lack of prey, And the whelps of the lioness are scattered.

nasb@Job:3:19 @'How much more those who dwell in houses of clay, Whose foundation is in the dust, Who are crushed before the moth!

nasb@Job:3:3" @I have seen the foolish taking root, And I cursed his abode immediately.

nasb@Job:3:4" @His sons are far from safety, They are even oppressed in the gate, And there is no deliverer.

nasb@Job:3:9 @Who does great and unsearchable things, Wonders without number.

nasb@Job:3:10" @He gives rain on the earth And sends water on the fields,

nasb@Job:3:11 @So that He sets on high those who are lowly, And those who mourn are lifted to safety.

nasb@Job:3:12" @He frustrates the plotting of the shrewd, So that their hands cannot attain success.

nasb@Job:3:14" @By day they meet with darkness, And grope at noon as in the night.

nasb@Job:3:20" @In famine He will redeem you from death, And in war from the power of the sword.

nasb@Job:3:22" @You will laugh at violence and famine, And you will not be afraid of wild beasts.

nasb@Job:3:23" @For you will be in league with the stones of the field, And the beasts of the field will be at peace with you.

nasb@Job:3:24" @You will know that your tent is secure, For you will visit your abode and fear no loss.

nasb@Job:3:25" @You will know also that your descendants will be many, And your offspring as the grass of the earth.

nasb@Job:3:27" @Behold this; we have investigated it, and so it is. Hear it, and know for yourself."

nasb@Job:3:2" @ Oh that my grief were actually weighed And laid in the balances together with my calamity!

nasb@Job:3:6" @Can something tasteless be eaten without salt, Or is there any taste in the white of an egg?

nasb@Job:3:7" @My soul refuses to touch them; They are like loathsome food to me.

nasb@Job:3:8" @Oh that my request might come to pass, And that God would grant my longing!

nasb@Job:3:9" @Would that God were willing to crush me, That He would loose His hand and cut me off!

nasb@Job:3:10" @But it is still my consolation, And I rejoice in unsparing pain, That I have not denied the words of the Holy One.

nasb@Job:3:11" @What is my strength, that I should wait? And what is my end, that I should endure?

nasb@Job:3:13" @Is it that my help is not within me, And that deliverance is driven from me?

nasb@Job:3:14" @For the despairing man there should be kindness from his friend; So that he does not forsake the fear of the Almighty.

nasb@Job:3:17" @When they become waterless, they are silent, When it is hot, they vanish from their place.

nasb@Job:3:18" @The paths of their course wind along, They go up into nothing and perish.

nasb@Job:3:25" @How painful are honest words! But what does your argument prove?

nasb@Job:3:28" @Now please look at me, And see if I lie to your face.

nasb@Job:3:30" @Is there injustice on my tongueNULL Cannot my palate discern calamitiesNULL

nasb@Job:3:7" @Remember that my life is but breath; My eye will not again see good.

nasb@Job:3:12" @Am I the sea, or the sea monster, That You set a guard over me?

nasb@Job:3:15 @So that my soul would choose suffocation, Death rather than my pains.

nasb@Job:3:16" @I waste away; I will not live forever. Leave me alone, for my days are but a breath.

nasb@Job:3:17" @ What is man that You magnify him, And that You are concerned about him,

nasb@Job:3:18 @That You examine him every morning And try him every moment?

nasb@Job:3:20" @ Have I sinned? What have I done to You, O watcher of men? Why have You set me as Your target, So that I am a burden to myself?

nasb@Job:3:3" @Does God pervert justice? Or does the Almighty pervert what is right?

nasb@Job:3:6 @If you are pure and upright, Surely now He would rouse Himself for you And restore your righteous estate.

nasb@Job:3:7" @Though your beginning was insignificant, Yet your end will increase greatly.

nasb@Job:3:8" @Please inquire of past generations, And consider the things searched out by their fathers.

nasb@Job:3:11" @Can the papyrus grow up without a marsh? Can the rushes grow without water?

nasb@Job:3:13" @So are the paths of all who forget God; And the hope of the godless will perish,

nasb@Job:3:22" @Those who hate you will be clothed with shame, And the tent of the wicked will be no longer."

nasb@Job:3:2" @In truth I know that this is so; But how can a man be in the right before God?

nasb@Job:3:10 @Who does great things, unfathomable, And wondrous works without number.

nasb@Job:3:12" @Were He to snatch away, who could restrain Him? Who could say to Him, ' What are You doing?'

nasb@Job:3:13" @God will not turn back His anger; Beneath Him crouch the helpers of Rahab.

nasb@Job:3:16" @If I called and He answered me, I could not believe that He was listening to my voice.

nasb@Job:3:18" @He will not allow me to get my breath, But saturates me with bitterness.

nasb@Job:3:19" @If it is a matter of power, behold, He is the strong one! And if it is a matter of justice, who can summon Him?

nasb@Job:3:26" @They slip by like reed boats, Like an eagle that swoops on its prey.

nasb@Job:3:28 @I am afraid of all my pains, I know that You will not acquit me.

nasb@Job:3:32" @For He is not a man as I am that I may answer Him, That we may go to court together.

nasb@Job:3:35" @Then I would speak and not fear Him; But I am not like that in myself.

nasb@Job:3:10" @ I loathe my own life; I will give full vent to my complaint; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

nasb@Job:3:6 @That You should seek for my guilt And search after my sin?

nasb@Job:3:9 @'Remember now, that You have made me as clay; And would You turn me into dust again?

nasb@Job:3:13 @'Yet these things You have concealed in Your heart; I know that this is within You-

nasb@Job:3:15 @'If I am wicked, woe to me! And if I am righteous, I dare not lift up my head. I am sated with disgrace and conscious of my misery.

nasb@Job:3:18 @' Why then have You brought me out of the womb? Would that I had died and no eye had seen me!

nasb@Job:3:20" @Would He not let my few days alone? Withdraw from me that I may have a little cheer

nasb@Job:3:11 @Then Zophar the Naamathite answered,

nasb@Job:3:2" @Shall a multitude of words go unanswered, And a talkative man be acquitted?

nasb@Job:3:5" @But would that God might speak, And open His lips against you,

nasb@Job:3:6 @And show you the secrets of wisdom! For sound wisdom has two sides. Know then that God forgets a part of your iniquity.

nasb@Job:3:8" @They are high as the heavens, what can you do? Deeper than Sheol, what can you know?

nasb@Job:3:11" @For He knows false men, And He sees iniquity without investigating.

nasb@Job:3:16" @For you would forget your trouble, As waters that have passed by, you would remember it.

nasb@Job:3:19" @You would lie down and none would disturb you, And many would entreat your favor.

nasb@Job:3:20" @But the eyes of the wicked will fail, And there will be no escape for them; And their hope is to breathe their last."

nasb@Job:3:5" @He who is at ease holds calamity in contempt, As prepared for those whose feet slip.

nasb@Job:3:9" @Who among all these does not know That the hand of the LORD has done this,

nasb@Job:3:10 @In whose hand is the life of every living thing, And the breath of all mankind?

nasb@Job:3:11" @Does not the ear test words, As the palate tastes its food?

nasb@Job:3:15" @Behold, He restrains the waters, and they dry up; And He sends them out, and they inundate the earth.

nasb@Job:3:23" @He makes the nations great, then destroys them; He enlarges the nations, then leads them away.

nasb@Job:3:24" @He deprives of intelligence the chiefs of the earth's people And makes them wander in a pathless waste.

nasb@Job:3:2" @ What you know I also know; I am not inferior to you.

nasb@Job:3:5" @O that you would be completely silent, And that it would become your wisdom!

nasb@Job:3:7" @Will you speak what is unjust for God, And speak what is deceitful for Him?

nasb@Job:3:13" @ Be silent before me so that I may speak; Then let come on me what may.

nasb@Job:3:16" @This also will be my salvation, For a godless man may not come before His presence.

nasb@Job:3:17" @Listen carefully to my speech, And let my declaration fill your ears.

nasb@Job:3:18" @Behold now, I have prepared my case; I know that I will be vindicated.

nasb@Job:3:27" @You put my feet in the stocks And watch all my paths; You set a limit for the soles of my feet,

nasb@Job:3:28 @While I am decaying like a rotten thing, Like a garment that is moth-eaten.

nasb@Job:3:5" @Since his days are determined, The number of his months is with You; And his limits You have set so that he cannot pass.

nasb@Job:3:6" @ Turn Your gaze from him that he may rest, Until he fulfills his day like a hired man.

nasb@Job:3:7" @For there is hope for a tree, When it is cut down, that it will sprout again, And its shoots will not fail.

nasb@Job:3:9 @At the scent of water it will flourish And put forth sprigs like a plant.

nasb@Job:3:10" @But man dies and lies prostrate. Man expires, and where is he?

nasb@Job:3:11" @As water evaporates from the sea, And a river becomes parched and dried up,

nasb@Job:3:13" @Oh that You would hide me in Sheol, That You would conceal me until Your wrath returns to You, That You would set a limit for me and remember me!

nasb@Job:3:19 @Water wears away stones, Its torrents wash away the dust of the earth; So You destroy man's hope.

nasb@Job:3:4" @Indeed, you do away with reverence And hinder meditation before God.

nasb@Job:3:9" @ What do you know that we do not know? What do you understand that we do not?

nasb@Job:3:10" @Both the gray-haired and the aged are among us, Older than your father.

nasb@Job:3:11" @Are the consolations of God too small for you, Even the word spoken gently with you?

nasb@Job:3:13 @That you should turn your spirit against God And allow such words to go out of your mouth?

nasb@Job:3:14" @What is man, that he should be pure, Or he who is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

nasb@Job:3:16 @How much less one who is detestable and corrupt, Man, who drinks iniquity like water!

nasb@Job:3:17" @I will tell you, listen to me; And what I have seen I will also declare;

nasb@Job:3:18 @What wise men have told, And have not concealed from their fathers,

nasb@Job:3:21" @Sounds of terror are in his ears; While at peace the destroyer comes upon him.

nasb@Job:3:22" @He does not believe that he will return from darkness, And he is destined for the sword.

nasb@Job:3:23" @He wanders about for food, saying, 'Where is it?' He knows that a day of darkness is at hand.

nasb@Job:3:24" @Distress and anguish terrify him, They overpower him like a king ready for the attack,

nasb@Job:3:26" @He rushes headlong at Him With his massive shield.

nasb@Job:3:27" @For he has covered his face with his fat And made his thighs heavy with flesh.

nasb@Job:3:28" @He has lived in desolate cities, In houses no one would inhabit, Which are destined to become ruins.

nasb@Job:3:30" @He will not escape from darkness; The flame will wither his shoots, And by the breath of His mouth he will go away.

nasb@Job:3:3" @Is there no limit to windy words? Or what plagues you that you answer?

nasb@Job:3:4" @I too could speak like you, If I were in your place. I could compose words against you And shake my head at you.

nasb@Job:3:6" @If I speak, my pain is not lessened, And if I hold back, what has left me?

nasb@Job:3:9" @His anger has torn me and hunted me down, He has gnashed at me with His teeth; My adversary glares at me.

nasb@Job:3:10" @They have gaped at me with their mouth, They have slapped me on the cheek with contempt; They have massed themselves against me.

nasb@Job:3:12" @I was at ease, but He shattered me, And He has grasped me by the neck and shaken me to pieces; He has also set me up as His target.

nasb@Job:3:14" @He breaks through me with breach after breach; He runs at me like a warrior.

nasb@Job:3:19" @Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven, And my advocate is on high.

nasb@Job:3:21" @O that a man might plead with God As a man with his neighbor!

nasb@Job:3:2" @ Surely mockers are with me, And my eye gazes on their provocation.

nasb@Job:3:3" @Lay down, now, a pledge for me with Yourself; Who is there that will be my guarantor?

nasb@Job:3:6" @But He has made me a byword of the people, And I am one at whom men spit.

nasb@Job:3:8" @The upright will be appalled at this, And the innocent will stir up himself against the godless.

nasb@Job:3:14 @If I call to the pit, 'You are my father'; To the worm, 'my mother and my sister';

nasb@Job:3:10" @A noose for him is hidden in the ground, And a trap for him on the path.

nasb@Job:3:11" @All around terrors frighten him, And harry him at every step.

nasb@Job:3:12" @His strength is famished, And calamity is ready at his side.

nasb@Job:3:13" @His skin is devoured by disease, The firstborn of death devours his limbs.

nasb@Job:3:15" @There dwells in his tent nothing of his; Brimstone is scattered on his habitation.

nasb@Job:3:20" @Those in the west are appalled at his fate, And those in the east are seized with horror.

nasb@Job:3:6 @Know then that God has wronged me And has closed His net around me.

nasb@Job:3:8" @He has walled up my way so that I cannot pass, And He has put darkness on my paths.

nasb@Job:3:14" @My relatives have failed, And my intimate friends have forgotten me.

nasb@Job:3:17" @My breath is offensive to my wife, And I am loathsome to my own brothers.

nasb@Job:3:19" @All my associates abhor me, And those I love have turned against me.

nasb@Job:3:22" @Why do you persecute me as God does, And are not satisfied with my flesh?

nasb@Job:3:23" @Oh that my words were written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book!

nasb@Job:3:24" @That with an iron stylus and lead They were engraved in the rock forever!

nasb@Job:3:25" @As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, And at the last He will take His stand on the earth.

nasb@Job:3:28" @If you say, 'How shall we persecute him?' And 'What pretext for a case against him can we find?'

nasb@Job:3:29" @Then be afraid of the sword for yourselves, For wrath brings the punishment of the sword, So that you may know there is judgment."

nasb@Job:3:20 @Then Zophar the Naamathite answered,

nasb@Job:3:2" @Therefore my disquieting thoughts make me respond, Even because of my inward agitation.

nasb@Job:3:5 @That the triumphing of the wicked is short, And the joy of the godless momentary?

nasb@Job:3:17" @He does not look at the streams, The rivers flowing with honey and curds.

nasb@Job:3:18" @He returns what he has attained And cannot swallow it; As to the riches of his trading, He cannot even enjoy them.

nasb@Job:3:23" @When he fills his belly, God will send His fierce anger on him And will rain it on him while he is eating.

nasb@Job:3:2" @Listen carefully to my speech, And let this be your way of consolation.

nasb@Job:3:3" @Bear with me that I may speak; Then after I have spoken, you may mock.

nasb@Job:3:4" @As for me, is my complaint to man? And why should I not be impatient?

nasb@Job:3:5" @Look at me, and be astonished, And put your hand over your mouth.

nasb@Job:3:10" @His ox mates without fail; His cow calves and does not abort.

nasb@Job:3:12" @They sing to the timbrel and harp And rejoice at the sound of the flute.

nasb@Job:3:15 @'Who is the Almighty, that we should serve Him, And what would we gain if we entreat Him?'

nasb@Job:3:19" @You say, ' God stores away a man's iniquity for his sons.' Let God repay him so that he may know it.

nasb@Job:3:20" @Let his own eyes see his decay, And let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

nasb@Job:3:21" @For what does he care for his household after him, When the number of his months is cut off?

nasb@Job:3:22" @Can anyone teach God knowledge, In that He judges those on high?

nasb@Job:3:23" @One dies in his full strength, Being wholly at ease and satisfied;

nasb@Job:3:24 @His sides are filled out with fat, And the marrow of his bones is moist,

nasb@Job:3:30" @For the wicked is reserved for the day of calamity; They will be led forth at the day of fury.

nasb@Job:3:31" @Who will confront him with his actions, And who will repay him for what he has done?

nasb@Job:3:32" @While he is carried to the grave, Men will keep watch over his tomb.

nasb@Job:3:4" @Is it because of your reverence that He reproves you, That He enters into judgment against you?

nasb@Job:3:5" @Is not your wickedness great, And your iniquities without end?

nasb@Job:3:7" @To the weary you have given no water to drink, And from the hungry you have withheld bread.

nasb@Job:3:11 @Or darkness, so that you cannot see, And an abundance of water covers you.

nasb@Job:3:12" @Is not God in the height of heaven? Look also at the distant stars, how high they are!

nasb@Job:3:13" @You say, ' What does God know? Can He judge through the thick darkness?

nasb@Job:3:14 @' Clouds are a hiding place for Him, so that He cannot see; And He walks on the vault of heaven.'

nasb@Job:3:15" @Will you keep to the ancient path Which wicked men have trod,

nasb@Job:3:16 @Who were snatched away before their time, Whose foundations were washed away by a river?

nasb@Job:3:17" @They said to God, 'Depart from us!' And 'What can the Almighty do to them?'

nasb@Job:3:21" @ Yield now and be at peace with Him; Thereby good will come to you.

nasb@Job:3:3" @Oh that I knew where I might find Him, That I might come to His seat!

nasb@Job:3:5" @I would learn the words which He would answer, And perceive what He would say to me.

nasb@Job:3:6" @Would He contend with me by the greatness of His power? No, surely He would pay attention to me.

nasb@Job:3:11" @My foot has held fast to His path; I have kept His way and not turned aside.

nasb@Job:3:13" @But He is unique and who can turn Him? And what His soul desires, that He does.

nasb@Job:3:14" @For He performs what is appointed for me, And many such decrees are with Him.

nasb@Job:3:15" @Therefore, I would be dismayed at His presence; When I consider, I am terrified of Him.

nasb@Job:3:9" @Others snatch the orphan from the breast, And against the poor they take a pledge.

nasb@Job:3:12" @From the city men groan, And the souls of the wounded cry out; Yet God does not pay attention to folly.

nasb@Job:3:13" @Others have been with those who rebel against the light; They do not want to know its ways Nor abide in its paths.

nasb@Job:3:14" @The murderer arises at dawn; He kills the poor and the needy, And at night he is as a thief.

nasb@Job:3:18" @They are insignificant on the surface of the water; Their portion is cursed on the earth. They do not turn toward the vineyards.

nasb@Job:3:19" @Drought and heat consume the snow waters, So does Sheol those who have sinned.

nasb@Job:3:24" @They are exalted a little while, then they are gone; Moreover, they are brought low and like everything gathered up; Even like the heads of grain they are cut off.

nasb@Job:3:6 @How much less man, that maggot, And the son of man, that worm!"

nasb@Job:3:2" @What a help you are to the weak! How you have saved the arm without strength!

nasb@Job:3:3" @What counsel you have given to one without wisdom! What helpful insight you have abundantly provided!

nasb@Job:3:5" @The departed spirits tremble Under the waters and their inhabitants.

nasb@Job:3:8" @He wraps up the waters in His clouds, And the cloud does not burst under them.

nasb@Job:3:10" @He has inscribed a circle on the surface of the waters At the boundary of light and darkness.

nasb@Job:3:11" @The pillars of heaven tremble And are amazed at His rebuke.

nasb@Job:3:12" @He quieted the sea with His power, And by His understanding He shattered Rahab.

nasb@Job:3:13" @By His breath the heavens are cleared; His hand has pierced the fleeing serpent.

nasb@Job:3:3 @For as long as life is in me, And the breath of God is in my nostrils,

nasb@Job:3:5" @Far be it from me that I should declare you right; Till I die I will not put away my integrity from me.

nasb@Job:3:8" @For what is the hope of the godless when he is cut off, When God requires his life?

nasb@Job:3:10" @Will he take delight in the Almighty? Will he call on God at all times?

nasb@Job:3:11" @I will instruct you in the power of God; What is with the Almighty I will not conceal.

nasb@Job:3:14" @Though his sons are many, they are destined for the sword; And his descendants will not be satisfied with bread.

nasb@Job:3:18" @He has built his house like the spider's web, Or as a hut which the watchman has made.

nasb@Job:3:22" @For it will hurl at him without sparing; He will surely try to flee from its power.

nasb@Job:3:23" @Men will clap their hands at him And will hiss him from his place.

nasb@Job:3:4" @He sinks a shaft far from habitation, Forgotten by the foot; They hang and swing to and fro far from men.

nasb@Job:3:5" @The earth, from it comes food, And underneath it is turned up as fire.

nasb@Job:3:7" @The path no bird of prey knows, Nor has the falcon's eye caught sight of it.

nasb@Job:3:9" @He puts his hand on the flint; He overturns the mountains at the base.

nasb@Job:3:11" @He dams up the streams from flowing, And what is hidden he brings out to the light.

nasb@Job:3:18" @Coral and crystal are not to be mentioned; And the acquisition of wisdom is above that of pearls.

nasb@Job:3:22" @ Abaddon and Death say, 'With our ears we have heard a report of it.'

nasb@Job:3:25" @When He imparted weight to the wind And meted out the waters by measure,

nasb@Job:3:28" @And to man He said, 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to depart from evil is understanding.'"

nasb@Job:3:2" @Oh that I were as in months gone by, As in the days when God watched over me;

nasb@Job:3:6 @When my steps were bathed in butter, And the rock poured out for me streams of oil!

nasb@Job:3:7" @When I went out to the gate of the city, When I took my seat in the square,

nasb@Job:3:10 @The voice of the nobles was hushed, And their tongue stuck to their palate.

nasb@Job:3:16" @I was a father to the needy, And I investigated the case which I did not know.

nasb@Job:3:17" @I broke the jaws of the wicked And snatched the prey from his teeth.

nasb@Job:3:19 @'My root is spread out to the waters, And dew lies all night on my branch.

nasb@Job:3:25" @I chose a way for them and sat as chief, And dwelt as a king among the troops, As one who comforted the mourners.

nasb@Job:3:30" @But now those younger than I mock me, Whose fathers I disdained to put with the dogs of my flock.

nasb@Job:3:2" @Indeed, what good was the strength of their hands to me? Vigor had perished from them.

nasb@Job:3:3" @From want and famine they are gaunt Who gnaw the dry ground by night in waste and desolation,

nasb@Job:3:6 @So that they dwell in dreadful valleys, In holes of the earth and of the rocks.

nasb@Job:3:7" @Among the bushes they cry out; Under the nettles they are gathered together.

nasb@Job:3:10" @They abhor me and stand aloof from me, And they do not refrain from spitting at my face.

nasb@Job:3:13" @They break up my path, They profit from my destruction; No one restrains them.

nasb@Job:3:17" @At night it pierces my bones within me, And my gnawing pains take no rest.

nasb@Job:3:18" @By a great force my garment is distorted; It binds me about as the collar of my coat.

nasb@Job:3:20" @I cry out to You for help, but You do not answer me; I stand up, and You turn Your attention against me.

nasb@Job:3:23" @For I know that You will bring me to death And to the house of meeting for all living.

nasb@Job:3:31" @I have made a covenant with my eyes; How then could I gaze at a virgin?

nasb@Job:3:2" @And what is the portion of God from above Or the heritage of the Almighty from on high?

nasb@Job:3:6 @Let Him weigh me with accurate scales, And let God know my integrity.

nasb@Job:3:8 @Let me sow and another eat, And let my crops be uprooted.

nasb@Job:3:9" @If my heart has been enticed by a woman, Or I have lurked at my neighbor's doorway,

nasb@Job:3:11" @For that would be a lustful crime; Moreover, it would be an iniquity punishable by judges.

nasb@Job:3:12" @For it would be fire that consumes to Abaddon, And would uproot all my increase.

nasb@Job:3:14 @What then could I do when God arises? And when He calls me to account, what will I answer Him?

nasb@Job:3:17 @Or have eaten my morsel alone, And the orphan has not shared it

nasb@Job:3:18 @(But from my youth he grew up with me as with a father, And from infancy I guided her),

nasb@Job:3:19 @If I have seen anyone perish for lack of clothing, Or that the needy had no covering,

nasb@Job:3:21 @If I have lifted up my hand against the orphan, Because I saw I had support in the gate,

nasb@Job:3:22 @Let my shoulder fall from the socket, And my arm be broken off at the elbow.

nasb@Job:3:25 @If I have gloated because my wealth was great, And because my hand had secured so much;

nasb@Job:3:26 @If I have looked at the sun when it shone Or the moon going in splendor,

nasb@Job:3:28 @That too would have been an iniquity calling for judgment, For I would have denied God above.

nasb@Job:3:29" @Have I rejoiced at the extinction of my enemy, Or exulted when evil befell him?

nasb@Job:3:31" @Have the men of my tent not said, 'Who can find one who has not been satisfied with his meat'?

nasb@Job:3:34 @Because I feared the great multitude, And the contempt of families terrified me, And kept silent and did not go out of doors?

nasb@Job:3:35" @Oh that I had one to hear me! Behold, here is my signature; Let the Almighty answer me! And the indictment which my adversary has written,

nasb@Job:3:39 @If I have eaten its fruit without money, Or have caused its owners to lose their lives,

nasb@Job:3:40 @Let briars grow instead of wheat, And stinkweed instead of barley." The words of Job are ended.

nasb@Job:4:5 @And when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of the three men his anger burned.

nasb@Job:4:6 @So Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite spoke out and said, "I am young in years and you are old; Therefore I was shy and afraid to tell you what I think.

nasb@Job:4:8" @But it is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.

nasb@Job:4:10" @So I say, 'Listen to me, I too will tell what I think.'

nasb@Job:4:11" @Behold, I waited for your words, I listened to your reasonings, While you pondered what to say.

nasb@Job:4:12" @I even paid close attention to you; Indeed, there was no one who refuted Job, Not one of you who answered his words.

nasb@Job:4:20" @Let me speak that I may get relief; Let me open my lips and answer.

nasb@Job:4:21" @Let me now be partial to no one, Nor flatter any man.

nasb@Job:4:22" @For I do not know how to flatter, Else my Maker would soon take me away.

nasb@Job:4:4" @The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

nasb@Job:4:11 @'He puts my feet in the stocks; He watches all my paths.'

nasb@Job:4:12" @Behold, let me tell you, you are not right in this, For God is greater than man.

nasb@Job:4:13" @Why do you complain against Him That He does not give an account of all His doings?

nasb@Job:4:17 @That He may turn man aside from his conduct, And keep man from pride;

nasb@Job:4:20 @So that his life loathes bread, And his soul favorite food.

nasb@Job:4:22" @Then his soul draws near to the pit, And his life to those who bring death.

nasb@Job:4:23" @If there is an angel as mediator for him, One out of a thousand, To remind a man what is right for him,

nasb@Job:4:26 @Then he will pray to God, and He will accept him, That he may see His face with joy, And He may restore His righteousness to man.

nasb@Job:4:27" @He will sing to men and say, 'I have sinned and perverted what is right, And it is not proper for me.

nasb@Job:4:30 @To bring back his soul from the pit, That he may be enlightened with the light of life.

nasb@Job:4:31" @Pay attention, O Job, listen to me; Keep silent, and let me speak.

nasb@Job:4:3" @For the ear tests words As the palate tastes food.

nasb@Job:4:4" @Let us choose for ourselves what is right; Let us know among ourselves what is good.

nasb@Job:4:7" @What man is like Job, Who drinks up derision like water,

nasb@Job:4:14" @If He should determine to do so, If He should gather to Himself His spirit and His breath,

nasb@Job:4:17" @Shall one who hates justice rule? And will you condemn the righteous mighty One,

nasb@Job:4:20" @In a moment they die, and at midnight People are shaken and pass away, And the mighty are taken away without a hand.

nasb@Job:4:23" @For He does not need to consider a man further, That he should go before God in judgment.

nasb@Job:4:28 @So that they caused the cry of the poor to come to Him, And that He might hear the cry of the afflicted--

nasb@Job:4:29 @When He keeps quiet, who then can condemn? And when He hides His face, who then can behold Him, That is, in regard to both nation and man?--

nasb@Job:4:30 @So that godless men would not rule Nor be snares of the people.

nasb@Job:4:32 @Teach me what I do not see; If I have done iniquity, I will not do it again'?

nasb@Job:4:33" @Shall He recompense on your terms, because you have rejected it? For you must choose, and not I; Therefore declare what you know.

nasb@Job:4:3" @For you say, ' What advantage will it be to You? What profit will I have, more than if I had sinned?'

nasb@Job:4:5" @ Look at the heavens and see; And behold the clouds--they are higher than you.

nasb@Job:4:6" @If you have sinned, what do you accomplish against Him? And if your transgressions are many, what do you do to Him?

nasb@Job:4:7" @If you are righteous, what do you give to Him, Or what does He receive from your hand?

nasb@Job:4:2" @Wait for me a little, and I will show you That there is yet more to be said in God's behalf.

nasb@Job:4:7" @He does not withdraw His eyes from the righteous; But with kings on the throne He has seated them forever, and they are exalted.

nasb@Job:4:9 @Then He declares to them their work And their transgressions, that they have magnified themselves.

nasb@Job:4:10" @ He opens their ear to instruction, And commands that they return from evil.

nasb@Job:4:16" @Then indeed, He enticed you from the mouth of distress, Instead of it, a broad place with no constraint; And that which was set on your table was full of fatness.

nasb@Job:4:18" @Beware that wrath does not entice you to scoffing; And do not let the greatness of the ransom turn you aside.

nasb@Job:4:24" @Remember that you should exalt His work, Of which men have sung.

nasb@Job:4:27" @For He draws up the drops of water, They distill rain from the mist,

nasb@Job:4:33" @Its noise declares His presence; The cattle also, concerning what is coming up.

nasb@Job:4:37" @At this also my heart trembles, And leaps from its place.

nasb@Job:4:2" @Listen closely to the thunder of His voice, And the rumbling that goes out from His mouth.

nasb@Job:4:5" @God thunders with His voice wondrously, Doing great things which we cannot comprehend.

nasb@Job:4:7" @He seals the hand of every man, That all men may know His work.

nasb@Job:4:10" @From the breath of God ice is made, And the expanse of the waters is frozen.

nasb@Job:4:12" @It changes direction, turning around by His guidance, That it may do whatever He commands it On the face of the inhabited earth.

nasb@Job:4:19" @Teach us what we shall say to Him; We cannot arrange our case because of darkness.

nasb@Job:4:20" @Shall it be told Him that I would speak? Or should a man say that he would be swallowed up?

nasb@Job:4:2" @Who is this that darkens counsel By words without knowledge?

nasb@Job:4:4" @Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding,

nasb@Job:4:6" @On what were its bases sunk? Or who laid its cornerstone,

nasb@Job:4:13 @That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, And the wicked be shaken out of it?

nasb@Job:4:17" @Have the gates of death been revealed to you, Or have you seen the gates of deep darkness?

nasb@Job:4:20 @That you may take it to its territory And that you may discern the paths to its home?

nasb@Job:4:21" @You know, for you were born then, And the number of your days is great!

nasb@Job:4:23 @Which I have reserved for the time of distress, For the day of war and battle?

nasb@Job:4:24" @Where is the way that the light is divided, Or the east wind scattered on the earth?

nasb@Job:4:27 @To satisfy the waste and desolate land And to make the seeds of grass to sprout?

nasb@Job:4:28" @Has the rain a father? Or who has begotten the drops of dew?

nasb@Job:4:30" @Water becomes hard like stone, And the surface of the deep is imprisoned.

nasb@Job:4:32" @Can you lead forth a constellation in its season, And guide the Bear with her satellites?

nasb@Job:4:34" @Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, So that an abundance of water will cover you?

nasb@Job:4:35" @Can you send forth lightnings that they may go And say to you, 'Here we are'?

nasb@Job:4:37" @Who can count the clouds by wisdom, Or tip the water jars of the heavens,

nasb@Job:4:39" @Can you hunt the prey for the lion, Or satisfy the appetite of the young lions,

nasb@Job:4:39" @Do you know the time the mountain goats give birth? Do you observe the calving of the deer?

nasb@Job:4:9" @Will the wild ox consent to serve you, Or will he spend the night at your manger?

nasb@Job:4:11" @Will you trust him because his strength is great And leave your labor to him?

nasb@Job:4:12" @Will you have faith in him that he will return your grain And gather it from your threshing floor?

nasb@Job:4:15 @And she forgets that a foot may crush them, Or that a wild beast may trample them.

nasb@Job:4:16" @She treats her young cruelly, as if they were not hers; Though her labor be in vain, she is unconcerned;

nasb@Job:4:18" @When she lifts herself on high, She laughs at the horse and his rider.

nasb@Job:4:22" @He laughs at fear and is not dismayed; And he does not turn back from the sword.

nasb@Job:4:23" @The quiver rattles against him, The flashing spear and javelin.

nasb@Job:4:24" @With shaking and rage he races over the ground, And he does not stand still at the voice of the trumpet.

nasb@Job:4:25" @As often as the trumpet sounds he says, 'Aha!' And he scents the battle from afar, And the thunder of the captains and the war cry.

nasb@Job:4:26" @Is it by your understanding that the hawk soars, Stretching his wings toward the south?

nasb@Job:4:27" @Is it at your command that the eagle mounts up And makes his nest on high?

nasb@Job:4:4" @Behold, I am insignificant; what can I reply to You? I lay my hand on my mouth.

nasb@Job:4:8" @Will you really annul My judgment? Will you condemn Me that you may be justified?

nasb@Job:4:14" @Then I will also confess to you, That your own right hand can save you.

nasb@Job:4:15" @Behold now, Behemoth, which I made as well as you; He eats grass like an ox.

nasb@Job:4:24" @Can anyone capture him when he is on watch, With barbs can anyone pierce his noseNULL

nasb@Job:4:41" @Can you draw out Leviathan with a fishhook? Or press down his tongue with a cord?

nasb@Job:4:3" @Will he make many supplications to you, Or will he speak to you soft words?

nasb@Job:4:8" @Lay your hand on him; Remember the battle; you will not do it again!

nasb@Job:4:9" @Behold, your expectation is false; Will you be laid low even at the sight of him?

nasb@Job:4:10" @No one is so fierce that he dares to arouse him; Who then is he that can stand before Me?

nasb@Job:4:11" @Who has given to Me that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is Mine.

nasb@Job:4:16" @One is so near to another That no air can come between them.

nasb@Job:4:17" @They are joined one to another; They clasp each other and cannot be separated.

nasb@Job:4:21" @His breath kindles coals, And a flame goes forth from his mouth.

nasb@Job:4:26" @The sword that reaches him cannot avail, Nor the spear, the dart or the javelin.

nasb@Job:4:29" @Clubs are regarded as stubble; He laughs at the rattling of the javelin.

nasb@Job:4:34" @He looks on everything that is high; He is king over all the sons of pride."

nasb@Job:4:2" @I know that You can do all things, And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.

nasb@Job:4:3 @'Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?' "Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know."

nasb@Job:4:7 @It came about after the LORD had spoken these words to Job, that the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, "My wrath is kindled against you and against your two friends, because you have not spoken of Me what is right as My servant Job has.

nasb@Job:4:8" @Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job, and offer up a burnt offering for yourselves, and My servant Job will pray for you. For I will accept him so that I may not do with you according to your folly, because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has."

nasb@Job:4:9 @So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the LORD told them; and the LORD accepted Job.

nasb@Job:4:10 @The LORD restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the LORD increased all that Job had twofold.

nasb@Job:4:11 @Then all his brothers and all his sisters and all who had known him before came to him, and they ate bread with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversities that the LORD had brought on him. And each one gave him one piece of money, and each a ring of gold.

nasb@Job:4:12 @The LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; and he had 14,000 sheep and 6,000 camels and 1,000 yoke of oxen and 1,000 female donkeys.

nasb@Job:4:15 @In all the land no women were found so fair as Job's daughters; and their father gave them inheritance among their brothers.

nasb@Job:4:16 @After this, Job lived 140 years, and saw his sons and his grandsons, four generations.

nasb@Psalms:1:1 @How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!

nasb@Psalms:1:2 @But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.

nasb@Psalms:1:3 @He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers.

nasb@Psalms:2:1 @Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing?

nasb@Psalms:2:4 @He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them.

nasb@Psalms:2:8 @'Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession.

nasb@Psalms:2:9 @'You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.'"

nasb@Psalms:2:12 @Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!

nasb@Psalms:3:7 @Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God! For You have smitten all my enemies on the cheek; You have shattered the teeth of the wicked.

nasb@Psalms:3:8 @Salvation belongs to the LORD; Your blessing be upon Your people! Selah.

nasb@Psalms:4:2 @O sons of men, how long will my honor become a reproach? How long will you love what is worthless and aim at deception? Selah.

nasb@Psalms:4:3 @But know that the LORD has set apart the godly man for Himself; The LORD hears when I call to Him.

nasb@Psalms:4:4 @Tremble, and do not sin; Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

nasb@Psalms:5:3 @In the morning, O LORD, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch.

nasb@Psalms:5:5 @The boastful shall not stand before Your eyes; You hate all who do iniquity.

nasb@Psalms:5:7 @But as for me, by Your abundant lovingkindness I will enter Your house, At Your holy temple I will bow in reverence for You.

nasb@Psalms:5:9 @There is nothing reliable in what they say; Their inward part is destruction itself. Their throat is an open grave; They flatter with their tongue.

nasb@Psalms:5:11 @But let all who take refuge in You be glad, Let them ever sing for joy; And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may exult in You.

nasb@Psalms:6:1 @O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger, Nor chasten me in Your wrath.

nasb@Psalms:6:3 @And my soul is greatly dismayed; But You, O LORD-- how long?

nasb@Psalms:6:5 @For there is no mention of You in death; In Sheol who will give You thanks?

nasb@Psalms:6:9 @The LORD has heard my supplication, The LORD receives my prayer.

nasb@Psalms:6:10 @All my enemies will be ashamed and greatly dismayed; They shall turn back, they will suddenly be ashamed.

nasb@Psalms:8:8 @The birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea, Whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

nasb@Psalms:9:4 @For You have maintained my just cause; You have sat on the throne judging righteously.

nasb@Psalms:9:5 @You have rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wicked; You have blotted out their name forever and ever.

nasb@Psalms:9:13 @Be gracious to me, O LORD; See my affliction from those who hate me, You who lift me up from the gates of death,

nasb@Psalms:9:14 @That I may tell of all Your praises, That in the gates of the daughter of Zion I may rejoice in Your salvation.

nasb@Psalms:9:20 @Put them in fear, O LORD; Let the nations know that they are but men. Selah.

nasb@Psalms:10:5 @His ways prosper at all times; Your judgments are on high, out of his sight; As for all his adversaries, he snorts at them.

nasb@Psalms:10:6 @He says to himself, " I will not be moved; Throughout all generations I will not be in adversity."

nasb@Psalms:10:8 @He sits in the lurking places of the villages; In the hiding places he kills the innocent; His eyes stealthily watch for the unfortunate.

nasb@Psalms:10:9 @He lurks in a hiding place as a lion in his lair; He lurks to catch the afflicted; He catches the afflicted when he draws him into his net.

nasb@Psalms:10:10 @He crouches, he bows down, And the unfortunate fall by his mighty ones.

nasb@Psalms:11:5 @The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked, And the one who loves violence His soul hates.

nasb@Psalms:12:2 @They speak falsehood to one another; With flattering lips and with a double heart they speak.

nasb@Psalms:12:3 @May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, The tongue that speaks great things;

nasb@Psalms:12:5" @Because of the devastation of the afflicted, because of the groaning of the needy, Now I will arise," says the LORD; "I will set him in the safety for which he longs."

nasb@Ecclesiastes:1:15 @Then I said to myself, " As is the fate of the fool, it will also befall me. Why then have I been extremely wise?" So I said to myself, "This too is vanity."

nasb@Ecclesiastes:1:17 @So I hated life, for the work which had been done under the sun was grievous to me; because everything is futility and striving after wind.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:1:23 @Because all his days his task is painful and grievous; even at night his mind does not rest. This too is vanity.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:1:24 @There is nothing better for a man than to eat and drink and tell himself that his labor is good. This also I have seen that it is from the hand of God.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:1:25 @For who can eat and who can have enjoyment without Him?

nasb@Ecclesiastes:1:26 @For to a person who is good in His sight He has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, while to the sinner He has given the task of gathering and collecting so that he may give to one who is good in God's sight. This too is vanity and striving after wind.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:2:2 @A time to give birth and a time to die; A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:2:5 @A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:2:8 @A time to love and a time to hate; A time for war and a time for peace.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:2:9 @What profit is there to the worker from that in which he toils?

nasb@Ecclesiastes:2:11 @He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:2:12 @I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good in one's lifetime;

nasb@Ecclesiastes:2:13 @moreover, that every man who eats and drinks sees good in all his labor--it is the gift of God.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:2:14 @I know that everything God does will remain forever; there is nothing to add to it and there is nothing to take from it, for God has so worked that men should fear Him.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:2:15 @That which is has been already and that which will be has already been, for God seeks what has passed by.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:2:16 @Furthermore, I have seen under the sun that in the place of justice there is wickedness and in the place of righteousness there is wickedness.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:2:17 @I said to myself, " God will judge both the righteous man and the wicked man," for a time for every matter and for every deed is there.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:2:18 @I said to myself concerning the sons of men, "God has surely tested them in order for them to see that they are but beasts."

nasb@Ecclesiastes:2:19 @For the fate of the sons of men and the fate of beasts is the same. As one dies so dies the other; indeed, they all have the same breath and there is no advantage for man over beast, for all is vanity.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:2:21 @Who knows that the breath of man ascends upward and the breath of the beast descends downward to the earth?

nasb@Ecclesiastes:2:22 @I have seen that nothing is better than that man should be happy in his activities, for that is his lot. For who will bring him to see what will occur after himNULL

nasb@Ecclesiastes:3:1 @Then I looked again at all the acts of oppression which were being done under the sun. And behold I saw the tears of the oppressed and that they had no one to comfort them; and on the side of their oppressors was power, but they had no one to comfort them.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:3:2 @So I congratulated the dead who are already dead more than the living who are still living.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:3:3 @But better off than both of them is the one who has never existed, who has never seen the evil activity that is done under the sun.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:3:4 @I have seen that every labor and every skill which is done is the result of rivalry between a man and his neighbor. This too is vanity and striving after wind.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:3:7 @Then I looked again at vanity under the sun.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:3:8 @There was a certain man without a dependent, having neither a son nor a brother, yet there was no end to all his labor. Indeed, his eyes were not satisfied with riches and he never asked, "And for whom am I laboring and depriving myself of pleasure?" This too is vanity and it is a grievous task.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:3:16 @There is no end to all the people, to all who were before them, and even the ones who will come later will not be happy with him, for this too is vanity and striving after wind.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:4:1 @Guard your steps as you go to the house of God and draw near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools; for they do not know they are doing evil.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:4:2 @Do not be hasty in word or impulsive in thought to bring up a matter in the presence of God. For God is in heaven and you are on the earth; therefore let your words be few.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:4:4 @When you make a vow to God, do not be late in paying it; for He takes no delight in fools. Pay what you vow!

nasb@Ecclesiastes:4:6 @Do not let your speech cause you to sin and do not say in the presence of the messenger of God that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry on account of your voice and destroy the work of your hands?

nasb@Ecclesiastes:4:7 @For in many dreams and in many words there is emptiness. Rather, fear God.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:4:8 @If you see oppression of the poor and denial of justice and righteousness in the province, do not be shocked at the sight; for one official watches over another official, and there are higher officials over them.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:4:9 @After all, a king who cultivates the field is an advantage to the land.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:4:11 @When good things increase, those who consume them increase. So what is the advantage to their owners except to look on?

nasb@Ecclesiastes:4:12 @The sleep of the working man is pleasant, whether he eats little or much; but the full stomach of the rich man does not allow him to sleep.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:4:14 @When those riches were lost through a bad investment and he had fathered a son, then there was nothing to support him.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:4:15 @As he had come naked from his mother's womb, so will he return as he came. He will take nothing from the fruit of his labor that he can carry in his hand.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:4:16 @This also is a grievous evil--exactly as a man is born, thus will he die. So what is the advantage to him who toils for the wind?

nasb@Ecclesiastes:4:17 @Throughout his life he also eats in darkness with great vexation, sickness and anger.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:4:18 @Here is what I have seen to be good and fitting- to eat, to drink and enjoy oneself in all one's labor in which he toils under the sun during the few years of his life which God has given him; for this is his reward.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:4:19 @Furthermore, as for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, He has also empowered him to eat from them and to receive his reward and rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:5:2 @a man to whom God has given riches and wealth and honor so that his soul lacks nothing of all that he desires; yet God has not empowered him to eat from them, for a foreigner enjoys them. This is vanity and a severe affliction.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:5:3 @If a man fathers a hundred children and lives many years, however many they be, but his soul is not satisfied with good things and he does not even have a proper burial, then I say, "Better the miscarriage than he,

nasb@Ecclesiastes:5:7 @All a man's labor is for his mouth and yet the appetite is not satisfied.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:5:8 @For what advantage does the wise man have over the fool? What advantage does the poor man have, knowing how to walk before the living?

nasb@Ecclesiastes:5:9 @What the eyes see is better than what the soul desires. This too is futility and a striving after wind.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:5:10 @Whatever exists has already been named, and it is known what man is; for he cannot dispute with him who is stronger than he is.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:5:11 @For there are many words which increase futility. What then is the advantage to a man?

nasb@Ecclesiastes:5:12 @For who knows what is good for a man during his lifetime, during the few years of his futile lifeNULL He will spend them like a shadow. For who can tell a man what will be after him under the sunNULL

nasb@Ecclesiastes:6:1 @A good name is better than a good ointment, And the day of one's death is better than the day of one's birth.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:6:2 @It is better to go to a house of mourning Than to go to a house of feasting, Because that is the end of every man, And the living takes it to heart.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:6:8 @The end of a matter is better than its beginning; Patience of spirit is better than haughtiness of spirit.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:6:10 @Do not say, "Why is it that the former days were better than these?" For it is not from wisdom that you ask about this.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:6:12 @For wisdom is protection just as money is protection, But the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the lives of its possessors.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:6:13 @Consider the work of God, For who is able to straighten what He has bent?

nasb@Ecclesiastes:6:14 @In the day of prosperity be happy, But in the day of adversity consider-- God has made the one as well as the other So that man will not discover anything that will be after him.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:6:18 @It is good that you grasp one thing and also not let go of the other; for the one who fears God comes forth with both of them.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:6:21 @Also, do not take seriously all words which are spoken, so that you will not hear your servant cursing you.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:6:22 @For you also have realized that you likewise have many times cursed others.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:6:24 @What has been is remote and exceedingly mysterious. Who can discover it?

nasb@Ecclesiastes:6:25 @I directed my mind to know, to investigate and to seek wisdom and an explanation, and to know the evil of folly and the foolishness of madness.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:6:26 @And I discovered more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, whose hands are chains. One who is pleasing to God will escape from her, but the sinner will be captured by her.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:6:27" @Behold, I have discovered this," says the Preacher, "adding one thing to another to find an explanation,

nasb@Ecclesiastes:6:29" @Behold, I have found only this, that God made men upright, but they have sought out many devices."

nasb@Ecclesiastes:7:1 @Who is like the wise man and who knows the interpretation of a matter? A man's wisdom illumines him and causes his stern face to beam.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:7:2 @I say, "Keep the command of the king because of the oath before God.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:7:3" @Do not be in a hurry to leave him. Do not join in an evil matter, for he will do whatever he pleases."

nasb@Ecclesiastes:7:4 @Since the word of the king is authoritative, who will say to him, "What are you doing?"

nasb@Ecclesiastes:7:7 @If no one knows what will happen, who can tell him when it will happen?

nasb@Ecclesiastes:7:8 @No man has authority to restrain the wind with the wind, or authority over the day of death; and there is no discharge in the time of war, and evil will not deliver those who practice it.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:7:9 @All this I have seen and applied my mind to every deed that has been done under the sun wherein a man has exercised authority over another man to his hurt.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:7:12 @Although a sinner does evil a hundred times and may lengthen his life, still I know that it will be well for those who fear God, who fear Him openly.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:7:14 @There is futility which is done on the earth, that is, there are righteous men to whom it happens according to the deeds of the wicked. On the other hand, there are evil men to whom it happens according to the deeds of the righteous. I say that this too is futility.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:7:15 @So I commended pleasure, for there is nothing good for a man under the sun except to eat and to drink and to be merry, and this will stand by him in his toils throughout the days of his life which God has given him under the sun.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:7:17 @and I saw every work of God, I concluded that man cannot discover the work which has been done under the sun. Even though man should seek laboriously, he will not discover; and though the wise man should say, "I know," he cannot discover.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:8:1 @For I have taken all this to my heart and explain it that righteous men, wise men, and their deeds are in the hand of God. Man does not know whether it will be love or hatred; anything awaits him.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:8:2 @It is the same for all. There is one fate for the righteous and for the wicked; for the good, for the clean and for the unclean; for the man who offers a sacrifice and for the one who does not sacrifice. As the good man is, so is the sinner; as the swearer is, so is the one who is afraid to swear.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:8:3 @This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that there is one fate for all men. Furthermore, the hearts of the sons of men are full of evil and insanity is in their hearts throughout their lives. Afterwards they go to the dead.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:8:6 @Indeed their love, their hate and their zeal have already perished, and they will no longer have a share in all that is done under the sun.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:8:7 @Go then, eat your bread in happiness and drink your wine with a cheerful heart; for God has already approved your works.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:8:10 @Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:8:11 @I again saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift and the battle is not to the warriors, and neither is bread to the wise nor wealth to the discerning nor favor to men of ability; for time and chance overtake them all.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:8:12 @Moreover, man does not know his time- like fish caught in a treacherous net and birds trapped in a snare, so the sons of men are ensnared at an evil time when it suddenly falls on them.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:8:14 @There was a small city with few men in it and a great king came to it, surrounded it and constructed large siegeworks against it.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:8:15 @But there was found in it a poor wise man and he delivered the city by his wisdom. Yet no one remembered that poor man.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:9:3 @Even when the fool walks along the road, his sense is lacking and he demonstrates to everyone that he is a fool.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:9:4 @If the ruler's temper rises against you, do not abandon your position, because composure allays great offenses.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:9:14 @Yet the fool multiplies words. No man knows what will happen, and who can tell him what will come after him?

nasb@Ecclesiastes:9:15 @The toil of a fool so wearies him that he does not even know how to go to a city.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:9:17 @Blessed are you, O land, whose king is of nobility and whose princes eat at the appropriate time--for strength and not for drunkenness.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:9:20 @Furthermore, in your bedchamber do not curse a king, and in your sleeping rooms do not curse a rich man, for a bird of the heavens will carry the sound and the winged creature will make the matter known.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:10:1 @Cast your bread on the surface of the waters, for you will find it after many days.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:10:2 @Divide your portion to seven, or even to eight, for you do not know what misfortune may occur on the earth.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:10:4 @He who watches the wind will not sow and he who looks at the clouds will not reap.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:10:5 @Just as you do not know the path of the wind and how bones are formed in the womb of the pregnant woman, so you do not know the activity of God who makes all things.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:10:8 @Indeed, if a man should live many years, let him rejoice in them all, and let him remember the days of darkness, for they will be many. Everything that is to come will be futility.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:10:9 @Rejoice, young man, during your childhood, and let your heart be pleasant during the days of young manhood. And follow the impulses of your heart and the desires of your eyes. Yet know that God will bring you to judgment for all these things.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:11:1 @Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near when you will say, "I have no delight in them";

nasb@Ecclesiastes:11:3 @in the day that the watchmen of the house tremble, and mighty men stoop, the grinding ones stand idle because they are few, and those who look through windows grow dim;

nasb@Ecclesiastes:11:4 @and the doors on the street are shut as the sound of the grinding mill is low, and one will arise at the sound of the bird, and all the daughters of song will sing softly.

nasb@Ecclesiastes:11:6 @Remember Him before the silver cord is broken and the golden bowl is crushed, the pitcher by the well is shattered and the wheel at the cistern is crushed;

nasb@Songs:0:6" @Do not stare at me because I am swarthy, For the sun has burned me. My mother's sons were angry with me; They made me caretaker of the vineyards, But I have not taken care of my own vineyard.

nasb@Songs:0:7" @Tell me, O you whom my soul loves, Where do you pasture your flock, Where do you make it lie down at noon? For why should I be like one who veils herself Beside the flocks of your companions?"

nasb@Songs:0:8" @ If you yourself do not know, Most beautiful among women, Go forth on the trail of the flock And pasture your young goats By the tents of the shepherds.

nasb@Songs:0:12" @ While the king was at his table, My perfume gave forth its fragrance.

nasb@Songs:0:3" @ Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest, So is my beloved among the young men. In his shade I took great delight and sat down, And his fruit was sweet to my taste.

nasb@Songs:0:7" @ I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, By the gazelles or by the hinds of the field, That you do not arouse or awaken my love Until she pleases."

nasb@Songs:0:9" @My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Behold, he is standing behind our wall, He is looking through the windows, He is peering through the lattice.

nasb@Songs:0:14" @O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, In the secret place of the steep pathway, Let me see your form, Let me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet, And your form is lovely."

nasb@Songs:0:15" @ Catch the foxes for us, The little foxes that are ruining the vineyards, While our vineyards are in blossom."

nasb@Songs:1:3" @ The watchmen who make the rounds in the city found me, And I said, 'Have you seen him whom my soul loves?'

nasb@Songs:1:5" @ I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, By the gazelles or by the hinds of the field, That you will not arouse or awaken my love Until she pleases."

nasb@Songs:1:6" @ What is this coming up from the wilderness Like columns of smoke, Perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, With all scented powders of the merchant?

nasb@Songs:1:8" @All of them are wielders of the sword, Expert in war; Each man has his sword at his side, Guarding against the terrors of the night.

nasb@Songs:1:10" @He made its posts of silver, Its back of gold And its seat of purple fabric, With its interior lovingly fitted out By the daughters of Jerusalem.

nasb@Songs:1:4" @ How beautiful you are, my darling, How beautiful you are! Your eyes are like doves behind your veil; Your hair is like a flock of goats That have descended from Mount Gilead.

nasb@Songs:1:3" @Your lips are like a scarlet thread, And your mouth is lovely. Your temples are like a slice of a pomegranate Behind your veil.

nasb@Songs:1:9" @You have made my heart beat faster, my sister, my bride; You have made my heart beat faster with a single glance of your eyes, With a single strand of your necklace.

nasb@Songs:1:13" @Your shoots are an orchard of pomegranates With choice fruits, henna with nard plants,

nasb@Songs:1:15" @You are a garden spring, A well of fresh water, And streams flowing from Lebanon."

nasb@Songs:1:16" @ Awake, O north wind, And come, wind of the south; Make my garden breathe out fragrance, Let its spices be wafted abroad. May my beloved come into his garden And eat its choice fruits!"

nasb@Songs:1:5" @ I have come into my garden, my sister, my bride; I have gathered my myrrh along with my balsam. I have eaten my honeycomb and my honey; I have drunk my wine and my milk. Eat, friends; Drink and imbibe deeply, O lovers."

nasb@Songs:1:7" @The watchmen who make the rounds in the city found me, They struck me and wounded me; The guardsmen of the walls took away my shawl from me.

nasb@Songs:1:8" @I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, If you find my beloved, As to what you will tell him- For I am lovesick."

nasb@Songs:1:9" @ What kind of beloved is your beloved, O most beautiful among women? What kind of beloved is your beloved, That thus you adjure us?"

nasb@Songs:1:11" @His head is like gold, pure gold; His locks are like clusters of dates And black as a raven.

nasb@Songs:1:12" @His eyes are like doves Beside streams of water, Bathed in milk, And reposed in their setting.

nasb@Songs:1:6" @ Where has your beloved gone, O most beautiful among women? Where has your beloved turned, That we may seek him with you?"

nasb@Songs:1:2" @ My beloved has gone down to his garden, To the beds of balsam, To pasture his flock in the gardens And gather lilies.

nasb@Songs:1:5" @Turn your eyes away from me, For they have confused me; Your hair is like a flock of goats That have descended from Gilead.

nasb@Songs:1:7" @ Your temples are like a slice of a pomegranate Behind your veil.

nasb@Songs:1:10 @'Who is this that grows like the dawn, As beautiful as the full moon, As pure as the sun, As awesome as an army with banners?'

nasb@Songs:1:11" @I went down to the orchard of nut trees To see the blossoms of the valley, To see whether the vine had budded Or the pomegranates had bloomed.

nasb@Songs:1:13" @ Come back, come back, O Shulammite; Come back, come back, that we may gaze at you!" " Why should you gaze at the Shulammite, As at the dance of the two companiesNULL

nasb@Songs:1:2" @Your navel is like a round goblet Which never lacks mixed wine; Your belly is like a heap of wheat Fenced about with lilies.

nasb@Songs:1:4" @Your neck is like a tower of ivory, Your eyes like the pools in Heshbon By the gate of Bath-rabbim; Your nose is like the tower of Lebanon, Which faces toward Damascus.

nasb@Songs:1:5" @Your head crowns you like Carmel, And the flowing locks of your head are like purple threads; The king is captivated by your tresses.

nasb@Songs:1:7" @Your stature is like a palm tree, And your breasts are like its clusters.

nasb@Songs:1:8" @I said, 'I will climb the palm tree, I will take hold of its fruit stalks.' Oh, may your breasts be like clusters of the vine, And the fragrance of your breath like apples,

nasb@Songs:1:12" @Let us rise early and go to the vineyards; Let us see whether the vine has budded And its blossoms have opened, And whether the pomegranates have bloomed. There I will give you my love.

nasb@Songs:1:8" @Oh that you were like a brother to me Who nursed at my mother's breasts. If I found you outdoors, I would kiss you; No one would despise me, either.

nasb@Songs:1:2" @I would lead you and bring you Into the house of my mother, who used to instruct me; I would give you spiced wine to drink from the juice of my pomegranates.

nasb@Songs:1:5" @ Who is this coming up from the wilderness Leaning on her beloved?" " Beneath the apple tree I awakened you; There your mother was in labor with you, There she was in labor and gave you birth.

nasb@Songs:1:6" @Put me like a seal over your heart, Like a seal on your arm. For love is as strong as death, Jealousy is as severe as Sheol; Its flashes are flashes of fire, The very flame of the LORD.

nasb@Songs:1:7" @Many waters cannot quench love, Nor will rivers overflow it; If a man were to give all the riches of his house for love, It would be utterly despised."

nasb@Songs:1:8" @ We have a little sister, And she has no breasts; What shall we do for our sister On the day when she is spoken for?

nasb@Songs:1:9" @If she is a wall, We will build on her a battlement of silver; But if she is a door, We will barricade her with planks of cedar."

nasb@Songs:1:11" @Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon; He entrusted the vineyard to caretakers. Each one was to bring a thousand shekels of silver for its fruit.

nasb@Songs:1:12" @My very own vineyard is at my disposal; The thousand shekels are for you, Solomon, And two hundred are for those who take care of its fruit."
