* Paul , called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God , and Sosthenes our brother , * To the church of God which is at Corinth , to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus , called to be saints , with all those in every place who call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord , both their Lord and ours : * Grace to you , and peace , from God our Father , and the Lord Jesus Christ . * I thank my God always for you , because of the grace of God which has been given you in Jesus Christ ; * That in everything you have been enriched by him , in all speech , and in all knowledge ; * So the testimony about Christ has been confirmed in you : * Therefore you lack no spiritual gift ; as you await the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ : * Who shall also confirm you to the end , blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ . * God is faithful , by whom you were called into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord . * Now I urge you , brethren , by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ , that you all agree , and that there be no divisions among you ; but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment . * For it has been declared to me about you , my brethren , by Chloe 's people , that there are quarrels among you . * What I mean to say is that every one of you says , I am of Paul ; and I of Apollos ; and I of Cephas ; and I of Christ . * Is Christ divided ? was Paul crucified for you ? or were you baptized in the name of Paul ? * I thank God that I baptized none of you , except Crispus and Gaius ; * Lest anyone should say that you had been baptized in my name . * (I also baptized the household of Stephanas : besides that , I do not know whether I baptized anyone else .) * For Christ did not send me to baptize , but to preach the gospel : not with eloquent words of wisdom , lest the cross of Christ should be emptied of its power . * For the preaching of the cross is to those who are perishing foolishness ; but to those of us who are being saved it is the power of God . * For it is written , I will destroy the wisdom of the wise , and frustrate the cleverness of the clever . * Where is the wise man ? where is the scribe ? where is the debater of this age ? has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world ? * For since , in the wisdom of God , the world by its wisdom did not come to know God , it pleased God through the foolishness of our preaching to save those who believe . * For Jews require a sign , and Greeks seek after wisdom : * But we preach Christ crucified , to the Jews a stumbling block , and to the Greeks foolishness ; * But to those who are called , both Jews and Greeks , Christ the power of God , and the wisdom of God . * Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men ; and the weakness of God is stronger than men . * For consider your calling , brethren : that not many were wise according to the flesh , not many mighty , not many noble : * But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise ; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are mighty ; * And God has chosen base things of the world , and things which are despised , and things which are not , to reduce to nothing things that are : * That no flesh should boast in his presence . * But because of him you are in Christ Jesus , who became for us wisdom from God , and righteousness , and holiness , and redemption : * So that , just as it is written , Let him who boasts , boast in the Lord .
