* Paul , called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God , and Sosthenes our brother , * Unto the church of God which is (5752 ) at Corinth , to them that are sanctified (5772 ) in Christ Jesus , called to be saints , with all that in every place call upon (5734 ) the name of Jesus Christ our Lord , both theirs and ours : * Grace be unto you , and peace , from God our Father , and from the Lord Jesus Christ . * I thank (5719 ) my God always on your behalf , for the grace of God which is given (5685 ) you by Jesus Christ ; * That in every thing ye are enriched (5681 ) by him , in all utterance , and in all knowledge ; * Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed (5681 ) in you : * So that ye come behind (5745 ) in no gift ; waiting for (5740 ) the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ : * Who shall also confirm (5692 ) you unto the end , that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ . * God is faithful , by whom ye were called (5681 ) unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord . * Now I beseech (5719 ) you , brethren , by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ , that ye all speak (5725 ) the same thing , and that there be (5753 ) no divisions among you ; but that ye be (5753 ) perfectly joined together (5772 ) in the same mind and in the same judgment . * For it hath been declared (5681 ) unto me of you , my brethren , by them which are of the house of Chloe , that there are (5748 ) contentions among you . * Now this I say (5719 ), that every one of you saith (5719 ), I am (5748 ) of Paul ; and I of Apollos ; and I of Cephas ; and I of Christ . * Is Christ divided (5769 )? was Paul crucified (5681 ) for you ? or were ye baptized (5681 ) in the name of Paul ? * I thank (5719 ) God that I baptized (5656 ) none of you , but Crispus and Gaius ; * Lest any should say (5632 ) that I had baptized (5656 ) in mine own name . * And I baptized (5656 ) also the household of Stephanas : besides , I know (5758 ) not whether I baptized (5656 ) any other . * For Christ sent (5656 ) me not to baptize (5721 ), but to preach the gospel (5733 ): not with wisdom of words , lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect (5686 ). * For the preaching of the cross is (5748 ) to them that perish (5730 ) foolishness ; but unto us which are saved (5746 ) it is (5748 ) the power of God . * For it is written (5769 ), I will destroy (5692 ) the wisdom of the wise , and will bring to nothing (5692 ) the understanding of the prudent . * Where is the wise ? where is the scribe ? where is the disputer of this world ? hath not God made foolish (5656 ) the wisdom of this world ? * For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew (5627 ) not God , it pleased (5656 ) God by the foolishness of preaching to save (5658 ) them that believe (5723 ). * For the Jews require (5719 ) a sign , and the Greeks seek (5719 ) after wisdom : * But we preach (5719 ) Christ crucified (5772 ), unto the Jews a stumblingblock , and unto the Greeks foolishness ; * But unto them which are called , both Jews and Greeks , Christ the power of God , and the wisdom of God . * Because the foolishness of God is (5748 ) wiser than men ; and the weakness of God is (5748 ) stronger than men . * For ye see (5719 ) your calling , brethren , how that not many wise men after the flesh , not many mighty , not many noble , are called : * But God hath chosen (5668 ) the foolish things of the world to confound (5725 ) the wise ; and God hath chosen (5668 ) the weak things of the world to confound (5725 ) the things which are mighty ; * And base things of the world , and things which are despised (5772 ), hath God chosen (5668 ), yea , and things which are (5752 ) not , to bring to nought (5661 ) things that are (5752 ): * That no flesh should glory (5667 ) in his presence . * But of him are (5748 ) ye in Christ Jesus , who of God is made (5675 ) unto us wisdom , and righteousness , and sanctification , and redemption : * That , according as it is written (5769 ), He that glorieth (5740 ), let him glory (5737 ) in the Lord . * And I , brethren , when I came (5631 ) to you , came (5627 ) not with excellency of speech or of wisdom , declaring (5723 ) unto you the testimony of God .2 * For I determined (5656 ) not to know (5760 ) any thing among you , save Jesus Christ , and him crucified (5772 ). * And I was (5633 ) with you in weakness , and in fear , and in much trembling . * And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of mans wisdom , but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power : * That your faith should not stand (5753 ) in the wisdom of men , but in the power of God . * Howbeit we speak (5719 ) wisdom among them that are perfect : yet not the wisdom of this world , nor of the princes of this world , that come to nought (5746 ): * But we speak (5719 ) the wisdom of God in a mystery , even the hidden (5772 ) wisdom , which God ordained (5656 ) before the world unto our glory : * Which none of the princes of this world knew (5758 ): for had they known (5627 ) it , they would not have crucified (5656 ) the Lord of glory . * But as it is written (5769 ), Eye hath not seen (5627 ), nor ear heard (5656 ), neither have entered (5627 ) into the heart of man , the things which God hath prepared (5656 ) for them that love (5723 ) him . * But God hath revealed (5656 ) them unto us by his Spirit : for the Spirit searcheth (5719 ) all things , yea , the deep things of God . * For what man knoweth (5758 ) the things of a man , save the spirit of man which is in him ? even so the things of God knoweth (5758 ) no man , but the Spirit of God . * Now we have received (5627 ), not the spirit of the world , but the spirit which is of God ; that we might know (5762 ) the things that are freely given (5685 ) to us of God . * Which things also we speak (5719 ), not in the words which mans wisdom teacheth , but which the Holy Ghost teacheth ; comparing (5723 ) spiritual things with spiritual . * But the natural man receiveth (5736 ) not the things of the Spirit of God : for they are (5748 ) foolishness unto him : neither can (5736 ) he know (5629 ) them , because they are spiritually discerned (5743 ). * But he that is spiritual judgeth (5719 ) all things , yet he himself is judged (5743 ) of no man . * For who hath known (5627 ) the mind of the Lord , that he may instruct (5692 ) him ? But we have (5719 ) the mind of Christ . * And I , brethren , could (5675 ) not speak (5658 ) unto you as unto spiritual , but as unto carnal , even as unto babes in Christ .
