1Corinthians:8

*
NOW as to things that have been sacrificed to idols ,
we know that we all have knowledge .
Knowledge puffs up ,
but love builds up .
*
If any one think ;
that he knows anything ,
he does not yet know as he ought to know .
*
If any one loves God ,
he is known by him .
*
Regarding the eating of things that have been sacrificed to idols ,
then ,
we know that an idol is nothing in the world ,
and that there is no God but one .
*
And though there are so-called gods in heaven and on earth ,
for there are gods many and lords many ,
*
still to us there is one God the Father ,
of whom are all things and we for him ,
and one Lord ,
Jesus Christ ,
through whom are all things and we through him .
*
But all have not this knowledge .
Some ,
having been accustomed to idols up to the present time ,
eat the food as a sacrifice to an idol ,
and their conscience being weak is stained .
*
But food does not bring us near to God ,
for neither do we lose by not eating nor gain by eating .
*
But be careful that this power of yours may not become a stumbling block to the weak .
*
For if any one sees you who have knowledge reclining at table in an idol '
s temple ,
will not the conscience of that weak one be emboldened to eat things that have been sacrificed to idols ?
*
Thus the weak man is ruined by your knowledge \'
97 the brother for whom Christ died .
*
So sinning against the brethren and wounding their weak consciences you sin against Christ .
*
Therefore if food makes my brother stumble I will not eat meat while the world stands ,
for fear of making my brother stumble .
