* We have heard that which was from the beginning . We have also seen it with our own eyes . We looked at it and touched it with our hands . It is the Word of life . * The life was made known and we have seen and testify about it . We declare the life to you . It is the eternal life , which was with the Father and was shown to us . * We declare to you what we have seen and heard . This way you may have fellowship with us . Yes , and our fellowship is with the Father , and with his Son Jesus Christ ! * We write these things that our joy may be made full . * This is the message we heard from him and announce to you , that God is light , and in him is no darkness at all . * If we say we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness , we lie , and do not live the truth . * If we walk in the light , as he is in the light , we have fellowship with one another , and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin . * If we say that we have no sin , we deceive ourselves , and the truth is not in us . * If we confess our sins , he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins , and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness . * If we say we have not sinned we make him a liar , and his word is not in us .
